Abstract: In a transmission power amplifier apparatus, a signal calculator divides an input signal into a plurality of N constant amplitude signals having a substantially identical predetermined constant amplitude value and having predetermined phases different from each other, and N power amplifiers amplify electric powers of the N constant amplitude signals under same predetermined operating condition. A power combiner combines the electric powers of the N power-amplified constant amplitude signals, and outputs a combined output signal. A controller controls the signal calculator to detect an amplitude value of the input signal, to detect an average value and one of a maximum value of the amplitude value of the input signal and a peak-to-peak value of the amplitude value for a unit time interval based on the detected amplitude value of the input signal, and to divide the input signal into the N constant amplitude signals having a constant amplitude value and different phases.

Abstract: This object is to conclude an agreement for making an insertion interval of a pilot signal variable between radio communication apparatuses and improve a throughput of a communication. A pilot signal insertion interval acquiring unit 3 acquires the insertion interval of the pilot signal (known reference signal) which is optimal in a propagation path to a predetermined radio communication apparatus, from a signal sent through an antenna 9 and a receiving RF unit 1, or information sent from a higher layer. Then, in accordance with the insertion interval of this pilot signal, the pilot signal is inserted into a transmission data, and it is transmitted, or the insertion interval of the pilot signal is reported as the transmission data to a different radio communication apparatus. Thus, the insertion interval of the pilot signal in the propagation path can be made optimal.

Abstract: The present invention provides a ‘411xx’ value added service to wireless users. The disclosed ‘411xx’ service allows a mobile user who may be unfamiliar with their current geographic location to nevertheless obtain quick, accurate, and current information relating to the geographic area, e.g., different services in their current location, stores, libraries, gas stations, etc., via a mobile terminated (MT) short message system (SMS) message. In addition to the traditional ‘4-1-1’ dialed digits, a mobile user would also dial a number (or numbers) representing a feature code for a particular service, e.g., nearby ATMs, or traffic information. Upon receiving a 411xx call, the MSC generates an ORREQ/TCAP trigger based on a translation of the requested service represented by the extra ‘xx’ digits. The 411xx call is terminated on the MSC after an audible whisper notice plays to the caller, e.g., “thank you for calling, your requested information will be sent momentarily”.

Abstract: A portable electronic device includes an interface unit for connection to a removable storage medium; at least one data item store; a group of application handling units, at least one application handling unit in the group of application handling units providing an application handling user data; at least one access control module; and an access setup unit configured to receive a user identity from the removable storage medium via the interface unit, locate a user access control module associated with the received user identity, and force user data handling applications that view, read, or write data items to access data item stores in the portable electronic device via the user access control module. The user access control module restricts viewing, reading, and writing of data items to data areas provided for the user identity in data item stores in the portable electronic device.

Abstract: A portable communication device is equipped with profile tracking functionality. A method of generating a profile for the user of the portable communication device includes tracking user activities and user preferences based on the user's use of the portable communication device. The tracked user activities and user preferences are indexed and a user profile is created based on the indexed user activities and user preferences. Profile tracking allows for the creation, viewing and exchange of profiles among users with similar interests.

Abstract: A system and method is provided for establishing a call to a wireless directory number (982) which is either a non-geographic directory number or a non-dialable directory number. A call is initiated from a wireline telephone (155) to a geographic-based local access directory number (994, 996). An originating switching node (810) recognizes the local access directory number (994, 996) as an AIN trigger, and thereafter identifies a signaling node (820) that is associated with the dialed local access DN (994, 996). The signaling node (820) sends a location request that includes the local access DN (994, 996) to an HLR (130). The HLR (130) obtains the wireless DN (982) from an internal database (990) in which the wireless DN (982) is associated with the local access DN (994, 996). The HLR (130) utilizes the wireless DN (982) to receive a temporary local directory number (TLDN) from visitor location register (140).

Abstract: There is disclosed a system and method for transferring a mobile handheld device between mobile carriers. In an embodiment, a system for transferring a handheld device between mobile carriers comprises a provisioning system for receiving from a first mobile carrier a request to register the device on the first mobile carrier's wireless network; a database uniquely identifying the device to determine if the device has been previously registered; deactivation means for deactivating the device from the second mobile carrier's wireless network if the device has been previously registered to a second mobile carrier; and registration means for registering the device on the first mobile carrier's wireless network upon confirmation that the device has been deactivated from the second mobile carrier's wireless network. The device may be uniquely identified by a unique electronic serial number (ESN) or a unique product identification number (PIN).

Abstract: In a telecommunications system, such as E-UTRAN, a User Equipment 6 is connected to a base station eNB 8 by an early radio bearer, which is established using preset values stored at the UE 6 and at the eNB 8. This enables data to be transferred over the radio link prior to formal establishment of a radio bearer between the UE 6 and the eNB 8.

Abstract: A method uses inter-base station control messages to provide neighbor base station information to mobile subscriber stations in a mobile communication system. The method includes obtaining, at a serving base station, physical channel information of neighbor base stations over a backbone network via, either directly or via a server; periodically transmitting the obtained physical channel information from the serving base station to a mobile subscriber station connected to the serving base station; and measuring, based on the updated physical channel information, signal quality of the at least one neighbor base station at the mobile subscriber station. Thus, the serving base station receives from the neighbor base stations the inter-base station control messages containing the neighbor base station information, updates the information, and provides the updated information to the corresponding mobile subscriber station(s), to be used for a specific purpose such as handover or network entry.

To a first set of subscribers associated with a mobile network operator, access to a mobile network is provided via base transceiver stations associated with a first mobile network identifier associated with the mobile network operator but not via base transceiver stations associated with a second mobile network identifier associated with the mobile network operator. To each of a second set of subscribers associated with the mobile network operator, access to the mobile network is provided via a corresponding subset of a set of base transceiver stations associated with the second mobile network identifier, the subset including for each subscriber in the second set one or more base transceiver stations with respect to which that subscriber is an authorized user.

The present invention is a mobile communication system that is constituted comprising an MN, a plurality of AI each constituting an interface for the connection to a core network at the MN, and a control device (MMF), wherein the MMF dynamically changes the AI adopted as the connection interface when a predetermined condition is satisfied on the basis of the connection status to the core network at each AI or the prediction information for a subsequent handover.
