Publication number: 20080137252Abstract: A current protection circuit that uses a sequence of bipolar transistors to provide or draw current from a protected circuit node. An initial bipolar transistor has its emitter terminal coupled to the protected circuit node, with its collector terminal coupled to a current source or sink. One or more additional intermediary bipolar transistors are also provided in the sequence. Each additional intermediary bipolar transistor has its emitter terminal coupled to the base terminal of the previous bipolar transistor in the sequence, and has its collector terminal coupled to the current source or sink. To complete the sequence, a reverse-biased diode is coupled between the base terminal of the final intermediary bipolar transistor and the current source or sink. This allows for effective triggering of current protection for a protected circuit node without requiring a zener diode.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 6, 2006Publication date: June 12, 2008Applicant: AMI Semiconductor, Inc.Inventors: Matthew A. Publication number: 20080137256Abstract: Within a group of components in a circuit, each component in the group has a thermal detector that describes whether that component is operating at a temperature that is normal, high or fatal. A first signal representing a first component's temperature is sent downstream to a second component in the group. If the second component is operating at the first component's temperature or lower, then the first signal is passed on downstream from the second component. However, if the second component is at a higher temperature, then the second component generates a second signal that represents the second component's temperature, and sends that second signal downstream. A signal representing the highest temperature detected in the group eventually reaches a master controller that, depending on the signal received from the group, lets the group continue to operate normally, throttles the group down, or else shuts the group down.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 15, 2008Publication date: June 12, 2008Applicant: IBM CORPORATIONInventor: Jimmy Grant Foster

Publication number: 20080137293Abstract: A heat-dissipating fan fixing device used for accommodating and fixing a fan and mounted on a case is provided, which includes a frame, a plurality of hooks and an elastic buckle piece. The frame has a first end and a second end being opposite to each other. Between the first end and the second end, an accommodating space through the frame is formed for accommodating and fixing the fan. The hooks extend from one side edge of the first end, and the elastic buckle pieces are formed by bending along another side wall of the first end. Thus, when the frame is joined with the case, firstly, each hook catches the case, and then, the elastic buckle piece is embedded into the case, thereby mounting the fixing device with the fan on the case.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 8, 2006Publication date: June 12, 2008Applicant: INVENTEC CORPORATIONInventor: Chun-Ying Yang

Publication number: 20080137294Abstract: A heat-dissipating fan fixing device, for accommodating and fixing a fan and mounted on a case is provided, which includes a frame, a plurality of hooks, and a stopping piece. The frame has a first end and a second end being opposite to each other. Between the first end and the second end, an accommodating space through the frame is formed for accommodating and fixing the fan. The hooks are formed on the first end and extend towards a protruding direction. The stopping piece is formed on a side edge of the first end. Thus, when the frame is joined with the case and moves along the protruding direction of the hooks, each hook catches the case, and then, the stopping piece is embedded into the case, so as to stop the frame form sliding along the opposite direction, thereby fixing the frame on the case.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 11, 2006Publication date: June 12, 2008Applicant: INVENTEC CORPORATIONInventor: Chun-Ying Yang

Publication number: 20080137296Abstract: An outdoor enclosure for electronic equipment is described. A shroud mounted around the enclosure provides a plenum for external air, as well as protection from solar loading. A fan located inside the equipment enclosure circulates the air inside the equipment enclosure downward along the sides of the enclosure to accomplish heat exchange with external air. Another fan draws external air upwardly across the surfaces of the equipment enclosure. The heated external air is exhausted at the top of the shroud.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 18, 2007Publication date: June 12, 2008Applicant: WESTELL TECHNOLOGIES, INC.Inventors: Ed DuQuette, Minesh Patel, Anthony Walker, Craig Cors, Greg Lantz, Daniel Wynard

Publication number: 20080137298Abstract: The invention relates to an air-cooled frequency converter, especially for construction site equipment, such as internal and external vibrators which are operated at a higher frequency than the existing electricity supply, said frequency converter comprising a housing and preferably being connected to a separation transformer for producing a protective extra-low voltage. The housing is divided into a converter receiving element surrounding a plate chamber, and a housing section connected to the receiving element and used as a cooling region, inside which cooling air channels and a fan for conveying the cooling air through the cooling air channels are arranged. The configuration of the housing in the cooling region are created by annular profiled elements which are cross-cut as desired, surround each other in an interspaced manner, and are coaxially arranged in relation to each other.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 22, 2008Publication date: June 12, 2008Applicant: WACKER CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT AGInventors: Matthias Meyer, Christian Glanz
