Abstract: Offsets in the transmit clock in a wireless communication system are corrected by using data distributed over many frequencies. In the time domain the system uses separate copies of the same signal transmitted with a known spacing in terms of transmit clock signals. The variation of timing between the received signals yields an initial estimate that then is used in a closed loop tracking arrangement to yield and compensate for unpredictable rate changes caused by, for example, jitter, Doppler or thermal drift. The frequency offset for one channel can then be used to calculate the offset for other channels.

Abstract: In order to minimize the overall delay when transmitting data via the HS-DSCH in UMTS, provisions should be made that an RLC entity on the UE side receives RLC PDUs carried by the HS-DSCH as early as possible from the MAC-hs layer, while at the same time keeping the right sequence of these RLC PDUs. In accordance with the present invention, the scheduler in Node B is allowed to send a list of TSNs of MAC-hs PDUs which are still under retransmission to the receiver, such as a mobile station. Such a list may also be sent for MAC-hs PDUs for which the transmission was aborted but a new transmission is intended. Advantageously, this may allow to avoid “useless gaps” in a reordering buffer of the receiver and, as such, may allow for an efficient data transmission.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for transporting data across an air interface using a blending of protocol layers to achieve reduced bandwidth. Advantage is taken of the fact that the extra overhead from, for example, the Ethernet protocol is addressing information pertaining to the destination of the packet. This destination information (for example, the Ethernet address) can be stripped from the transmission prior to the air interface and recreated after the air interface. In one embodiment, the concepts of a proper Layer 2 CS are merged on top of the 802.16 protocol and still retain the benefits of a Layer 2 transparent bridged service layer to the network layer. In one embodiment, the MAC address of the destination is used for the air interface and the Ethernet address is recreated and added on the far side of the air interface.

Abstract: Mobile node registration with the home network of the mobile node is delayed when the mobile node moves to a foreign network. The mobile node has a home network in which the mobile node has a home address. In response to the mobile node moving to a foreign network (such as by being turned on in the foreign network), the mobile node receives a care-of address. Where the mobile node has no ongoing communication sessions, the mobile node waits to register its care-of address with its home agent in the home network until the mobile node initiates a communication session within the foreign network, which may not ever occur. The mobile node by registering the care-of address with the home agent informs the home agent where to forward data sent to the mobile node's home address.

Abstract: It is an object of the present invention that a suitable correspondent router or suitable route is found when route will be optimized between a mobile node (MN) or a mobile router (MR) and a correspondent node (CN) by using a correspondent router (CR). MN 125, the home agent (HA) 140 of MR 120 or a plurality of CRs forms collaborating relation in advance. A member of the collaborating relation maintains addresses of other members belonging to the same collaborating relation. When the address of CN 160 is embedded in the header portion (mobility header) of data 201 from MN or MR, HA refers to its list of other members to search a suitable CR 142 for CN 160. HA sends RBU message 204 including binding information of MN or MR to the found suitable CR 142. Thereby, MN or MR can establish a tunnel with CR and route is optimized.

Abstract: The method allows communications means to be listed, for end-to-end broadcasting of information other than that required for managing multimedia sessions. After a selection (52) of communications channels through an infrastructure for managing multimedia sessions, the method provides via the application level, the establishment of a communication specifically using the selected communications channel(s). Purely descriptive/explanatory fields of characteristics of a session may be selected at an application level and used for conveying additional information in addition to the signaling protocol. It is thus possible to change the conditions for consuming/using the multimedia contents or the established flux. Instantaneity of the services and service use conditions may be obtained by requesting for example renegotiation in real time of a service when the conditions of use are modified (iconification of a TV/Video streaming flux in order to reduce the bandwidth used).

Abstract: Provided are a beacon scheduling system and method for preventing beacon overlapping in a ZigBee network including routers each with a beacon slot number according to a specific time slot. The system includes: a first router periodically transmitting beacons at a beacon interval according to a specific time slot; and a second router finding the beacon interval by scanning the beacons transmitted by the first router and transmitting beacons within the beacon interval in consideration of a superframe period for transmitting data. When a router in a sensor network operates, the router can efficiently select the beacon transmission time, and a sink node manages beacon overlapping between all the routers. Therefore, stable, low-energy consumption, and excellent performance sensor networking environments can be established in a beacon mode.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an uplink framing method and apparatus in a mobile communication system. After a mobile terminal and a base station are connected to each other in a wireless manner, the base station allocates an uplink radio resource to a medium access control (MAC) layer of the mobile terminal, and then scheduling is performed for each connection in a buffer. Next, a packet data unit (PDU) is generated to satisfy the uplink time constraint and then transmitted to the base station. Therefore, hardware implementation complexity can be minimized in a mobile communication system that should support fast data transmission, and at the same time, a required uplink framing time can be minimized in a system that supports a short frame period.
