  • Patent number: 7413595
Abstract: An improved control scheme is set forth for an adsorption process that removes water and carbon dioxide (CO2) from a feed gas using a hybrid of both temperature swing (i.e. TSA) and pressure swing (PSA) to regenerate the adsorbent. The control scheme comprises adjusting the quantity of heat to be provided by the regeneration gas as a function of temperature data taken within a strategic portion of the water selective adsorbent zone. The strategic portion corresponds to the location for the desired transition from regeneration by temperature swing, to regeneration by pressure swing. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, said quantity of regeneration heat is also adjusted as a function of the water content of the feed gas.

  • Patent number: 7413596
Abstract: The present invention provides methods and apparatus for the production of liquids and vapors that are free of, or substantially free of, dissolved or trapped gases. In one embodiment, a liquid is placed in a sealed vessel and subjected to a temperature below the freezing point of the liquid for sufficient time to substantially, if not completely, turn the liquid into a solid. Concurrent with or subsequent to the cooling of the liquid, the interior of the vessel is subjected to a vacuum so as to evacuate all or substantially all of the gaseous atmosphere. Thereafter, the vessel is heated to a temperature above the melting point of the liquid, allowing the frozen material to return to its liquid form or sublimate to form a vapor.

  • Patent number: 7413613
Abstract: A method for activating surface of electron emission source of a field emission display. After a cathode structure is fabricated and sintered with high temperature, the surface of electron emission source is activated by employing a spray coating technology. The spray coating technology includes a spraying device. The spraying device employs compressed air to homogeneously spray the solution onto the surface of the cathode structure. The solution will then cover the gate electrode layer and permeate into the hole and sagged area on the surface of electron emission source to form a covering layer. The covering layer is then dried and peeled off using a roller peeling device. The roller peeling device includes two rollers, one of which includes a heating unit to heat and soften the covering layer when rolled on the covering layer of the cathode structure. The other roller can thus peel off the covering layer easily.

  • Patent number: 7413616
Abstract: An active rinse shield designed to protect electrofill chemical baths from excessive dilution during rinse sprays on the semiconductor wafer. The shield uses overlapping blades to cover the bath, making a physical barrier between the bath chemistry and the wafer rinse water. The blades are interconnecting ribs that actuate around a common pivot axis. A linear mechanical actuator controls the blade movement, moving the top-most blade, which in turn, moves an adjacent lower blade. Each upper blade is interconnected to an adjacent lower blade by upper and lower ledges, a pivot boss and interlocking cut, and a curved ledge on each blade's body surface. The interconnecting features allow the blades to move one another out for extension or in for retraction. The interlocking blades are inclined above one another, forming grooves to redirect the rinse water away from the chemical bath.

  • Patent number: 7413634
Abstract: A multiple effect distillation chamber includes a plurality of separate distilling chambers and a drain chamber at a downstream end of the distilling chambers. The drain chamber functions to create a vacuum to draw volatile gases and impurities collected at the end of the distilling chambers into the drain chamber. The drain chamber cools the volatile gases via cooling water, whereby the cooling water and volatile gases are not mixed during the cooling process, such that the cooling water may be recycled and reused. The drain chamber may include two heat exchangers, each receiving cooling water from a separate water source. Utilizing separate water sources in conjunction with the dual heat exchangers of the drain chamber enables the flow rates of the cooling water sources to be adjusted to enable the disposal of waste water from the distiller at any desired temperature without affecting other functions of the distillation system.

  • Patent number: 7413636
Abstract: A dual spin valve (SV) sensor is provided with a longitudinal bias stack sandwiched between a first SV stack and a second SV stack. The longitudinal bias stack comprises an antiferromagnetic (AFM) layer sandwiched between first and second ferromagnetic layers. The first and second SV stacks comprise antiparallel (AP)-pinned layers pinned by AFM layers made of an AFM material having a higher blocking temperature than the AFM material of the bias stack allowing the AP-pinned layers to be pinned in a transverse direction and the bias stack to be pinned in a longitudinal direction. The demagnetizing fields of the two AP-pinned layers cancel each other and the bias stack provides flux closures for the sense layers of the first and second SV stacks.

Abstract: An improved structure of a protective cover assembly of a gas sensor is provided. The protective cover assembly is of a double-walled structure made up of an inner and an outer cylindrical cover with gas holes. A sensing element is disposed within the inner cover. At least one of the gas holes of the outer cover partially faces a side wall of the inner cover. A top end surface of the inner cover lies within a range defined between opposed portions of a perimeter of the at least one of the gas holes of the outer cover closest to a top and a base end of the cover assembly, respectively. • Patent number: 7413642
Abstract: A separating device for use in separating electrically charged components, e.g., by electrophoresis, comprises a channel branched at a branch point to provide a main feed channel (105) connected to at least two subsidiary channels (110, 115). In use, different components (120, 125, 130) show differential migration along the feed channel (105) so they can be separated into different subsidiary channels (110, 115) at the branch point. To support this separation, the separating device is provided with switchable voltage control means for controlling local voltages in a region of the branch point to provide potential differences of opposing polarity along the respective subsidiary channels (110, 115) such that a component to be separated (125) can be caused to migrate from the feed channel into a different subsidiary channel (115) from one or more other components.
