Abstract: The invention concerns a device for stiffening a flat component, a process for the production of a flat component, in particular a fiber composite component, and a fiber composite component. The device has a portion for producing a space for receiving a mold core for the transmission of a pressure for pressing the flat component and the device. It is characterised by means for positively lockingly and/or frictionally lockingly positioning the mold core in the space of the device. The process according to the invention includes the following steps: introducing the mold core into the portion of the device, positively lockingly and/or frictionally lockingly positioning the mold core in the portion of the device by means of the means, applying the device including the mold core to the non-hardened material layer or layers, pressing the material layers, and hardening the material layer or layers and joining the device to the material layer or layers.

Abstract: The process and the apparatus serve for the blow moulding of containers (2). A parison (1) composed of a thermoplastic material is first subjected to heat conditioning along a transport path in the region of a heating section (30). The parison is then subjected to a forming process within a blow mould with exposure to blowing pressure to give heat container. The heat conditioning of the parisons is carried out by a plurality of mutually superposed radiant heaters (41). The blow moulding of the container is followed by wall-thickness measurement at at least one level within the height of the container. The heating power of a radiant heater associated with this height level is controlled. The control system receives a prescribed wall-thickness value as required value and the measured wall thickness as actual value.

Abstract: A media handling device includes a media shingling mechanism having a roller actuator located adjacent an upper portion of a media stack and downstream thereof relative to a predetermined direction of an uppermost sheet from the stack toward a media restraint dam located upstream thereof. Abstract: To secure stability of the stacked sealing devices, a magnetic encoder-equipped sealing device has the slinger attached to either of two relatively rotating members and the lip seal attached to the other, the slinger has a magnetic encoder at one end face in the axial direction, the lip seal is formed by attaching a seal lip to an attachment ring and is slidably in contact with the slinger, an adhesion prevention projection, formed from a rubbery elastic body, is provided on the other end face in the axial direction of the attachment ring to prevent mutual adhesion of sealing devices when they are stacked, and the adhesion prevention projection (7) has a tapered cross-sectional shape in which an inner peripheral side-face (7a) of the projection (7) tilts relative to a rotation axis (O) at an angle greater than the tilt angle of an outer peripheral side-face (7b).

Abstract: This invention relates to a method of forming brush seals and to brush seals themselves. Thus a back plate 10, which defines an anchor recess 11, a reservoir recess 12 and a land 13 is laid horizontally A bristle pack 14 is then laid on top of the back plate 10, so that one end 15 overlies a recess 11 and the other, 16, projects beyond the land 13. The bristles are then clamped in position by clamp 21 and epoxy resin is poured into the recess 11 as indicated by the arrows. A mould is introduced over the recess. Once the resin is cured, the mould can be removed and it will be noted that excess epoxy resin has fallen into the recess 12 preventing resin wicking beyond the land 13 and interfering with the performance of the bristles.

Abstract: A seal assembly which, among other applications, may be used for sealing fluid leakage between a steam or combustion (gas) turbine rotor and a turbine stator body. The seal assembly includes elements having a plurality of spaced leaf seal members with slots therebetween. Each leaf seal member is angled out-of-plane between a fixed end and a free end thereof, and the free ends slidably engage the rotatable component. A support may be provided supporting the free end such that it contacts a distal end of the support in an operative state and is out of contact with the distal end in an inoperative state. Seal members may include two different materials having different coefficients of thermal expansion. In one embodiment at least one damping leaf can be provided on a low pressure side of a leaf seal member.

Abstract: A bit holder includes a shank, and a bit sleeve. The shank has a first end portion of a non-circular geometric equiangular cross-section for combining a hand tool, and a second end portion formed with a combining hole having female threads in its wall. The bit sleeve has a through hole for a bit to extend therein, male threads and a circular circumference. The bit sleeve is combined with the shank by engagement of the male threads with the female threads, and the bit sleeve may be rotated to fix with or loosen from the shank by an auxiliary tool for changing the bit. In assembling, the bit is inserted through the through hole of the bit sleeve, and then the male threads of the bit sleeve are engaged with the female threads of the shank by an auxiliary tool fitted with the circular circumference and rotated to keep the bit combined with the shank, with the bit sleeve pressing the bit so as to minimize the tolerance of the gap between them, thus enabling the bit to drive a screw smoothly into an object.
