Abstract: A power tong continuously rotates tubulars for spinning and torquing threaded connections. Continuous rotation is achieved through a rotating jaw having grippers that grip the tubular and continuously rotate with it. Hydraulic and electrical power necessary for actuating the grippers is generated on board. A serpentine belt system turns the motors of the on-board hydraulic power unit and electric generators to supply the grippers with hydraulic and electrical power. The serpentine belt system is driven by a secondary drive mounted on a fixed frame. The rotating jaw is rotatably mounted to the fixed frame and driven during continuous three hundred and sixty degrees of rotation by a primary drive, mounted on the fixed frame. A fixed jaw is also mounted to the frame. Tubular grippers on the fixed jaw grip a first side of a tubular joint. The grippers on the rotating jaw grip the opposite second side of the tubular joint. High torque low-rotational speed applied to the rotating jaw torques the joint.

Abstract: In a bent axis hydraulic machine, a back plate and cylinder barrel vary in distance from a drive plate as a stroke angle of the cylinder barrel changes, thereby minimizing unswept fluid volume in the cylinders of the barrel at any stroke angle. Distance is controlled by one or more rollers, engaging respective tracks that define a profile of contact that determines the distance as a function of the stroke angle. Telescoping fluid supply channels are employed to maintain a fluid supply to the cylinder barrel as the distance changes.

Abstract: A hydraulic system with an adjustable hydrostatic machine is provided that includes an adjustment mechanism. The adjustment mechanism interacts with an actuating device which has at least one actuating piston delimiting an actuating pressure space. The system has a regulating valve with which, for the displacement of the actuating piston and therefore for the actuation of the adjustment device, the supply and removal of pressure medium into and from the actuating pressure chamber can be controlled, wherein the regulating valve has a valve piston which is subjected to a force of a feedback spring, which force is dependent on the position of the adjustment mechanism. The valve piston is additionally subjected to a counterforce acting counter to the force of the feedback spring, and an actuating component is provided, with which the valve piston can be subjected to a control force acting in the same direction as the counterforce or to a control force acting counter to the counterforce.
