Abstract: A multi-element electrostatic chicane energy filter, with the addition of electrostatic quadrupole and hexapole excitations to the dipole elements. A charged particle energy filter according to the present invention with a combination of dipole, quadrupole, and hexapole elements capable of producing a line focus at an aperture reduces space-charge effects and aperture damage. A preferred embodiment allows the filter to act as a conjugate blanking system. The energy filter is capable of narrowing the energy spread to result in a smaller beam.

Abstract: A charged particle optical system includes: a member 112 likely deforming due to heat; and an electrostatic deflector 113 deflecting a charged particle beam 1 and fixed to the member 112. An electrode supporting portion 5 is placed on the fixing portion 7 so as to reduce a transmission of a deforming stress from the member 112 to the electrode supporting portion 5 in a direction of the electric field through the fixing portion 7. The transmission of the stress from the member that causes deformation to the electrode supporting portion of the electrostatic deflector is suppressed, and the dispersion of the deflections of a plurality of the charged particle beams is reduced.

Abstract: Provided is a charged particle beam device that prevents the increase in processing trouble caused by deterioration in the reviewing performance (e.g., overlooking of defects) by detecting an operation abnormality affecting the performance of the device or a possibility of such an abnormality in the middle of a processing sequence of a sample and giving a feedback in real time. In each processing step of the charged particle beam device, monitoring items representing the operating status of the device (control status of the electron beam, an offset amount at the time of wafer positioning, a defect coordinate error offset amount, etc.) are monitored during the processing sequence of a sample and stored as history information. In the middle of the processing sequence, a comparative judgment between the value of each monitoring item and the past history information corresponding to the monitoring item is made according to preset judgment criteria.

Abstract: Water is mixed with fire suppressant polymer in a mixer absent a power source. The mixer receives water through a water inlet with water exhibiting high velocity and associated hydrodynamic force. Such velocity is achieved by locating the water inlet connected to a float or other part of an aircraft so that when the aircraft flies over water with the float dipping into the water, water is driven through the opening and into the water inlet of the mixer. A polymer inlet passes into the mixer. A bend is located downstream of the water inlet and the polymer inlet. The bend exhibits sufficient resistance to fluid flow direction therethrough that the polymer is sheared and thoroughly mixed and activated with the water. A colorant inlet is optionally provided within the mixer and the water and polymer mixture is then discharged into a tank for later utilization at a firefighting location.

The carboxylic acid content is preferably in a range of 20% by mass to 60% by mass, both inclusive, of the total amount of the raw materials used to prepare the precursor solution. The carboxylic acid component prevents the hydrolysis due to the moisture in the air when the carboxylic acid content is equal to or more than 20% by mass. When the carboxylic acid content is equal to or less than 60% by mass, furthermore, the resulting precursor film will have a sufficiently large thickness.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a chain load binder in the field of mechanics, which addresses the problem existing in conventional load binders for which larger goods could not be reliably bound by ropes such as ribbons. The chain load binder of the present invention comprises a body, a handle, a tooth stop plate, a catch, a chain and a rotation shaft. The body is linked with a first hook. A spring is provided between the tooth stop plate and the body, which tends to press the tooth stop plate against the ratchet wheel. A positioning member is further provided at the body. The two ends of the spring can act against the positioning member and the tooth stop plate respectively. The positioning member is separate from the body, so that both the body and the positioning member can be easily processed.

Abstract: A nanoscale switching device has an active region disposed between two electrodes of nanoscale widths. The active region contains a switching material that carries mobile ionic dopants capable of being transported over the active region under an electric field to change a resistive state of the device. The switching material further carries immobile ionic dopants for inhibiting clustering of the mobile ionic dopants caused by switching cycles of the device. The immobile ionic dopants have a charge opposite in polarity to the charge of the mobile ionic dopants, and are less mobile under the electric field than the mobile ion dopants.
