A first stage can include a seek area (120), which displays a subset of letters or other symbols to represent the full range of symbolic elements that are available, in a compressed form. The user can identify an intended target range (128) by touching an area at or around the letter or other symbol of interest. That input triggers the display of a second stage of the interface in a separate selection area (122), in which all letters or other symbols in the target range are expanded and displayed. The user can then touch and lift off the letter or other symbol they wish to choose, for example, to insert in a message or application.

Abstract: Example embodiments disclosed herein relate to touch screen selection. A device displays a plurality of touch elements on a touch-enabled display. The device receives a touch input via the touch-enabled display. Further, the device determines an ambiguity based on the touch selection input. The device magnifies an area associated with the touch selection input based on the ambiguity determination. Moreover, the area includes a set of the touch elements associated with the ambiguity termination. The device receives another touch input at the area via the touch-enabled display. Then, the device determines one of the touch dements based on the other touch input.

Abstract: A touch controller processes a captured data frame and detects the presence of touch points in the data frame. The data frame includes a plurality of digital capacitance values organized as groups of sense line data and the touch controller determines for each digital capacitance value in a group of sense line data the difference between the digital capacitance value and an associated no-touch threshold to generate a baseline delta value for each digital capacitance value in the group. The touch controller selects the minimum baseline delta and adjusts each digital capacitance value in the group by the minimum baseline delta to generate adjusted sense line data. The touch control generates adjusted sense line data for each group of sense line data in the data frame and thereafter processes the groups of adjusted sense line data to detect the presence of touch points in the data frame.

Abstract: According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, a touch controller includes a touch frame processing component adapted to receive sensor signals containing information about a touch point on a touch screen. The touch frame processing component processes the sensor signals to generate touch information associated with each touch point. A touch coordinate processing component is coupled to receive touch information from the touch frame processing component and includes virtual area parameters that define a plurality of virtual areas on the touch screen. The touch coordinate processing component is operable to identify which one of the plurality of virtual areas contains the current touch point and to report or filter the current touch point as a function of the identified virtual area.

Abstract: A touch panel and a method of manufacturing same are disclosed. The touch panel includes a backlight module, an LCD display unit disposed in a receiving space enclosed in a raised wall portion of the backlight module, a capacitive sensing layer arranged on one side of a first glass substrate of the LCD display unit, and a transparent substrate bonded by an adhesive layer to one side of the LCD display unit opposite to the backlight module. Any extra amount of the adhesive layer flowing out from between the LCD display unit and the transparent substrate forms an overflowed adhesive portion, which is also located in the receiving space and shielded by the raised wall portion of the backlight module. Therefore, the step of removing the overflowed adhesive portion can be saved to reduce the labor and time cost for assembling the touch panel.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention generally provide an input device with display screens that periodically update (refresh) the screen by selectively driving electrodes corresponding to pixels in a display line. In addition to updating the display, the input device may perform capacitive sensing using the display screen as a touch area. To do this, the input device uses common electrodes for both updating the display and performing capacitive sensing, and interleaves periods of capacitive sensing between periods of updating the display lines (and pixels) based on a display frame. To avoid noise and mitigate interference during capacitive sensing, the input device may change the capacitive frame rate relative to the display frame rate based on measurements of interference. The changed capacitive frame rate may result in re-timed periods of capacitive sensing based on each display frame.
