Publication number: 20140049613Abstract: Systems and methods for processing a pair of 2-D images are described. In one example, a stereoscopic set of images is converted into a collection of regions that represent individual 3-D objects in the pair of images. In one embodiment, the system recovers the 3-D point P for each point p that appears in both images. It estimates the 3-D orientation of the floor plane, and the image capture planes and their height from the floor. The system then identifies the collection B of points P that do not represent points on the floor and generates a projection C of B onto a plane parallel to the floor. It blurs the projection C and identifies peaks in the blurred image, then fits symmetric figures to the points in C around the identified peaks. The system projects the 3-D figures associated with the symmetric figures back onto the 2-D images.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 24, 2012Publication date: February 20, 2014Applicant: PURDUE RESEARCH FOUNDATIONInventors: Zygmunt Pizlo, Tadamasa Sawada, Yunfeng Li

Publication number: 20140049622Abstract: The present technology relates to a display device, a method, and a program for allowing a high quality stereoscopic image to be presented more easily. A display unit is a display device for four viewpoints, including a parallax barrier, and a plurality of block regions, each including pixels in channels CH0 to CH3 arranged in a parallax direction, are arranged on the display unit in the parallax direction. An assignment control unit assigns a parallax image for a left eye or for a right eye to a pixel in each channel in a block region according to the viewpoint position of a user. For example, the same parallax image is assigned to pixels in two different channels that are adjacent to each other in the parallax direction. A generation unit generates a combined image by combining parallax images for a left eye and for a right eye according to the assignment by the assignment control unit, and causes the combined image to be stereoscopically displayed on the display unit.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 17, 2012Publication date: February 20, 2014Inventors: Shingo Tsurumi, Noriyuki Yamashita, Masaya Igarashi

Publication number: 20140049631Abstract: The present invention discloses a microscopy imaging structure with phase conjugated mirror and the method thereof. The afore-mentioned imaging structure produces a reverse focusing conjugated probe beam together with an original probe beam. These two probe beams meet at the focal point in the object body to be probed, and an interference pattern is produced. The interval between any two consecutive wave fronts in the interference pattern is then half of the wavelength of the original probe beam, and hence the vertical resolution of the image is improved. The present invention also applies a light modulator module on the probe beam to easily adjust the depth of the focal point of the probe beam and the phase conjugated reverse focusing probe beam in the object body. With the adoption of this invention, the size or position limitation of the target object is eliminated and the imaging resolution is also improved.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 15, 2012Publication date: February 20, 2014Applicant: NATIONAL CENTRAL UNIVERSITYInventors: Ching-Cherng SUN, Yeh-Wei YU, Che-Chu LIN, Szu-Yu CHEN

Publication number: 20140049652Abstract: Provided are a method of controlling photographing in a camera device such as a portable terminal, which automatically sets a photographing mode using at least one of location information of the device and subject information, and a camera device thereof. A camera captures an image during a photographing mode of the device. A controller acquires meta data corresponding to the image based on at least one of the location information and subject information included in the image. A camera setting value is determined based on the acquired meta data, and the camera is automatically set according to the determined camera setting value.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 3, 2013Publication date: February 20, 2014Applicant: Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.Inventors: Kyungchun MOON, Taekeun OH, Woonggyu PARK

Publication number: 20140049653Abstract: A method, system, and processor-executable software for processing images or video captured by a smartphone or other digital image capture device for subsequent validation and authentication captures not only the image, but also metadata relevant to the authenticity of validity of the image, such as position, time, camera movement and orientation, image parameters, and so forth. The image is watermarked and both the watermarked image and the metadata, as well as a symmetric key used in the watermarking, are digitally signed and transmitted or uploaded to a web server or authentication centric entity for authentication and storage. When a third party submits an image to the web server or authentication centric entity, the submitted image is compared with the stored watermarked image for authentication and validation of the submitted image, and the metadata is then retrieved to enable analysis of the contents of authenticated and validated image.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 20, 2013Publication date: February 20, 2014Inventors: Jon N. Publication number: 20140049656Abstract: Provided is an image capture apparatus that can perform focus detection based on a focus evaluation value indicating contrast of a subject image included in a focus detection area using an image signal output from an image sensor. In accordance with the extent of a blur amount of the subject image, the image capture apparatus determines how to use a method for performing focus detection through a reciprocating motion of a focus lens and a method for performing focus detection by moving the focus lens in a direction toward which the focus evaluation value increases. Focus detection is performed based on the determination.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 12, 2013Publication date: February 20, 2014Applicant: CANON KABUSHIKI KAISHAInventor: Satoshi Kimoto

Publication number: 20140049657Abstract: An image processing apparatus obtains a motion vector between at least three images including first, second, and third images obtained through continuous shooting under different exposure conditions and computes a first motion vector between the first and second images and a second motion vector between the first and third images in a plurality of positions on the first image. A reliability level of the motion vector is determined, and an estimated motion vector between the first and second images is computed for the first motion vector having low reliability based on the second motion vector computed in the corresponding position and the shooting interval between the images. In a case where the second motion vector computed in a position corresponding to that of the first motion vector having low reliability has high reliability, the first motion vector having low reliability is substituted with the estimated motion vector.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 23, 2013Publication date: February 20, 2014Inventor: Munenori Fukunishi

Publication number: 20140049661Abstract: Technologies are generally described herein for generating a higher resolution still frame. Some example technologies may configure a video camera at a first configuration, which the video camera to capture video at a first pixel offset. The technologies may capture a first frame of al field-of-view through the video camera configured at the first configuration. The first flame may contain the field-of-view captured at the first pixel offset. The technologies may adjust the video camera from the first configuration to a second configuration, which adapts the video camera to capture the video at a second pixel offset, the adjustment using a hardware mechanism. The technologies may capture a second frame of the field-of-view through the video camera configured at the second configuration.
