Publication number: 20140059930Abstract: A coal gasifier is retrofitted to achieve multiple advantages such as reduced oxygen consumption, reduced CO2 and NOx emissions, better H:C ratio, better carbon conversion etc. This is achieved by dividing the coal into at least two zones and modifying the gasifier and operating it as described. The coal is injected into a first zone, configured to devolatilize a substantial portion of the injected coal to produce coal char and volatiles. The operation is tuned to substantially consume the oxidant injected in the first zone. A low-calorific-value, high oxidant feedstock is injected in second zone of the gasifier. The devolatilization of the low-calorific-value, high oxidant content feedstock provides the oxygen containing compounds which gasify at least a portion of the coal char generated in the first zone.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 17, 2013Publication date: March 6, 2014Applicant: General Electric CompanyInventors: Vladimir Zamansky, Vitali Victor Lissianski, Boris Nikolaevich Eiteneer, Wei Wei, Ravichandra Srinivasa Jupudi, Ramanathan Subramanian

Publication number: 20140059975Abstract: Disclosed a reinforcement structure for reinforced concrete and methods for manufacturing thereof. In one aspect, the reinforcement structure includes a rod comprising a spiral strip having a pitch between 1.0 and 10.0 times a width of the strip and a ratio of thickness of the strip to the width of the strip in a range of 1:4 to 1:10. The surface of the spiral strip may be entirely or partially corrugated with ribs of arbitrary shape and having height in a range of 0.05% to 0.30% of the thickness of the strip. In another aspect, method for manufacturing a reinforcement structure comprises flattening a wire rod into a flat strip, corrugating it with ribs, and twisting the ribbed strip into a spiral of the specified pitch.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 24, 2013Publication date: March 6, 2014Inventors: Chester Wright, III, Nicolai Boguslavschi, Arkady Zalan

Publication number: 20140059977Abstract: In the method for producing a package for bar-shaped smoking articles that has at least one outer layer intended to receive the bar-shaped smoking articles and to hold the package together, a foil strip that is suitable for the outer layer and is taken from a reel is embossed and/or provided with creasing breaks online in time with the work cadence (P) of the packaging machine and subsequently cut to size. The resulting blank is then folded around the bar-shaped smoking articles in the packaging machine. On one hand, this method allows packaging the cigarettes directly in the outer wrapper without an innerliner, and on the other hand, to strongly rationalize and simplify the entire packaging process and to apply a large variety of signs of all kinds that are perceptible visually, tactually, acoustically or by olfaction.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 10, 2012Publication date: March 6, 2014Inventor: Charles Boegli
