  • Patent number: 8735738
Abstract: A printed circuit board grounding structure for use with a communication apparatus is configured for use with a printed circuit board to contact a grounded casing and thereby form a grounded circuit capable of electromagnetic wave shielding. The printed circuit board ground structure includes a copper conductive layer and a plurality of solder contacts. The copper conductive layer is circumferentially disposed along the periphery of the printed circuit board. The solder contacts are disposed on the copper conductive layer and used for electrically contacting with the casing. The printed circuit board grounding structure prevents deterioration of electromagnetic wave shielding despite oxidation of the copper conductive layer. The circumferentially-disposed copper conductive layer blocks electromagnetic wave generated from inside the printed circuit board, prevents leakage of the electromagnetic wave, and ultimately prevents the electromagnetic wave from interfering with other electronic apparatuses.

  • Patent number: 8735740
Abstract: A method and apparatus for filling a via with transparent material is presented, including the steps of providing a panel having a via, occluding the via with transparent material in a workable state so that a portion of the occluding material is internal to the via and a portion of the material is external to said via. The external and internal portions are separated so the transparent filler material, when set, forms a smooth and featureless surface. This causes the filled via to have a substantially even and uniform appearance over a wide range of viewing angles when lit.

  • Patent number: 8735746
Abstract: A method for operating a weighing apparatus and system contemplates that the system is operated in a ratio of two modes of operation, including a first, non-sampling mode, and a second, sampling mode. Operating in the first mode, wherein verification of a dose weight is not effected, promotes high cycle rates. Operation in the second, sampling mode requires operation at a slower cycle rate, but permits optimization of the accuracy of the overall weighing process. Operation in the two modes of operation, and adjustment of the ratio of the modes of operation, promotes optimization of weighing accuracy and cycle speeds.

Abstract: A debris collection slot or groove formed near the exit of a vent channel in a circuit breaker. Debris is produced during a circuit interruption, causing the debris to travel into the vent channel toward an opening where it exits the circuit breaker. Too much accumulated debris can lead to a ground strike or a cross-phase condition. The debris collection groove, formed near the exit opening of the vent channel, has no significant effect on the internal pressure generated during the circuit interruption. Multiple grooves can be formed near the exit opening for trapping more debris. When the vent channel is bent, the grooves are positioned on the outer curve of the last bend of the vent channel to trap the higher-density debris traveling around the curve.

Abstract: In order to detect a machining state of a wire electric discharge machine, the state of a machining gap is classified into three categories; an open-circuit state in which electric discharge does not occur after a first predetermined level is reached or surpassed by a machining-gap voltage, an electric discharge state in which electric discharge occurs after a second predetermined level is reached or surpassed by the machining-gap voltage, whereby the machining-gap voltage becomes lower than the second predetermined level, and a short-circuit state wherein a third predetermined level is not reached or surpassed by the machining-gap voltage. An average voltage in the machining gap is determined based on voltages in these states and the number of cycles of voltage application to the machining gap, number of open-circuits, number of discharges, and number of short-circuits per unit time.

  • Patent number: 8735763
Abstract: A switching element operates to be turned on or off at a frequency in the order of megahertz. A reactor supplies a resonance current generated by resonance of the reactor with a floating capacitance between electrodes to between the electrodes. The resonance current does not flow in a direct-current power supply. By turning a capacitor and a floating inductance into a serial resonant state, the reactor ideally supplies the resonance current to between the electrodes without influence of the floating inductance. A high-frequency voltage asymmetric in positive and negative polarities is applied to between the electrodes and a current pulse can be made into a short pulse. Therefore, finish machining with high surface roughness can be performed.

  • Patent number: 8735771
Abstract: A laser processing method which can reduce the chipping generated when a plate-like object to be processed formed with a modified region is turned into small pieces in steps other than its dividing step. In a part extending along a line to cut in an object to be processed, laser light is oscillated in a pulsing fashion in an intermediate portion including an effective part, and is continuously oscillated in one end portion and the other end portion on both sides of the intermediate portion. Since the laser light intensity becomes lower in continuous oscillation than in pulse oscillation, modified regions can be formed in the intermediate portion but not in one end portion and the other end portion. This keeps the modified regions from reaching the outer face of the substrate, thus making it possible to prevent particles from occurring when forming the modified regions.

  • Patent number: 8735774
Abstract: A laser beam propagates along a beam axis for incidence on a work surface mounted on a support. The support operatively connects to a positioning system moving at least one of the laser beam and the target specimen relative to each other to position the laser beam at selected locations on the work surface. At least one force reaction compensation motor is located in a common force plane with, and as close as possible to, a corresponding stage motor. Any moment arm between the compensation motor and the corresponding stage motor is reduced or eliminated, allowing the compensation motor to directly couple and react to stage forces with virtually zero moment arm. Six degrees of freedom can be controlled with only four motors, since each compensation motor is directly coupled and aligned to a corresponding stage motor.

  • Patent number: 8735778
Abstract: A convection oven having a vapor collection system; water injection system; easily accessible electrical components; and a variable-speed, reversible blower. The vapor collection system collects vapor from the cooking chamber during a cooking event, condenses the vapor, and drains the condensed vapor. The water injection system injects water for impact against a blower wheel for dispersion into the air circulating through the cooking chamber. The electrical components are housed within a housing that in a closed position conceals the components and in a closed position exposes the components for easy access. The rotational speed and direction of the variable-speed, reversible blower is controlled during a cooking event according to predetermined speed curves which may include one or more reversal events to achieve more uniform cooking of food. A main controller is programmable via an operator input (e.g., liquid crystal display touch screen) to control operating parameters of the oven.

  • Patent number: 8735779
Abstract: Methods and devices for securing an item of cookware to the burner of a stove top by use of magnetism. The magnet(s) may be permanent magnets or electromagnets. The cookware may comprise a permanent magnet disposed on or in the base of the cookware. The burner comprises a magnetic material such as steel or iron. The magnetic material may be in the grate of the cook top, in the electric coil of an electric burner, in the surface of a smooth-top stove top, or any other component of the cook top which is in close proximity to the bottom of the cookware when it is placed on the cooking surface. When the cookware is placed on the stove top, the magnetic field of the permanent magnet creates a force on the magnetic material biasing the cookware against the stove top and securing the cookware to the cook top.
