Abstract: Various methods and systems are provided for blocking backflow of exhaust through an exhaust gas recirculation system. In one embodiment, a method comprises flowing exhaust gas through an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) passage in a first direction from at least a first cylinder group of an engine to an intake manifold of the engine, the exhaust gas flowing in the first direction through a filter arranged in the EGR passage prior to reaching the intake manifold, and blocking flow of gas through the filter in a second, opposite direction with a mechanical one-way valve positioned in the EGR passage between the filter and the intake manifold.

Abstract: An exhaust gas system includes a reducing agent preparation section having a first cylindrical exhaust gas line pipe section opening approximately perpendicularly into a second exhaust gas line pipe section via an opening in a cylinder lateral surface of the second exhaust gas line pipe section. An injector unit for introducing the reducing agent into the exhaust gas is situated at the first exhaust gas line pipe section, upstream from the opening. The opening in the cylinder lateral surface of the second exhaust gas line pipe section has a larger extension in the direction of the longitudinal extent of the second exhaust gas line pipe section than transversely thereto. In a method using the reducing agent preparation section a rotating exhaust gas flow is formed within the second exhaust gas line pipe section.

Abstract: A method for cleaning an SCR system, wherein reducing agent is supplied to an exhaust flow upstream of an SCR catalyst (260), NOx contents of the exhaust flow are determined upstream and downstream of the SCR catalyst (260) and reducing agent crystals are removed by a high-temperature procedure. The steps are determining (s430) a ratio (K1) between NOx contents downstream and upstream of the SCR catalyst (260), raising the temperature (s440) of the exhaust flow to vaporise reducing agent crystals with a view to cleaning, determining (s450) a ratio (Kn) between respective NOx contents determined downstream and upstream of the SCR catalyst (260) at a temperature (T2) of the SCR catalyst (260) at which reducing agent crystals vaporise, comparing (s460) the ratios (K1, Kn) and using this comparison as a basis for deciding whether reducing agent crystals have been removed to an intended extent.

Abstract: An exhaust aftertreatment system may include a reductant supply and diluent supply conduits, an injector and a control module. The reductant supply conduit includes a first valve controlling a flow of reductant through the reductant supply conduit. The diluent supply conduit includes a second valve controlling a flow of diluent through the diluent supply conduit. The injector is in fluid communication with the reductant supply conduit and the diluent supply conduit and is configured to provide fluid to an exhaust stream. The control module may control the first valve to provide a targeted amount of reductant through the injector. The control module may control the second valve to maintain a fluid flow rate through the injector that is at or above a minimum flow rate threshold of the injector based on a difference between a flow rate through the reductant supply conduit and the minimum flow rate threshold.

The components of the dosing system mounted on the component carrier and in thermal contact with the component carrier are heated by heat transfer from the heated component carrier.

Abstract: A vehicle and a method of updating efficiency of a selective catalytic reduction filter (SCRF) of an exhaust treatment system of the vehicle are disclosed. The method includes obtaining an initial calculated efficiency of the SCRF, via a controller, regarding one of a NOx conversion, a reductant absorption, a reductant desorption and a reductant oxidation. The method also includes determining a soot mass estimate in the SCRF representative of an amount of soot collected inside the SCRF and determining a soot correction factor from the soot mass estimate. The method further includes calculating, via the controller, an updated efficiency value of the SCRF by multiplying the soot correction factor and the initial calculated efficiency to update efficiency of the SCRF.

Abstract: A system and method for converting pressure differentials to electricity is disclosed. Initially, a first chamber is empty and a second chamber holds compressed air/fluid. When the device is disposed in the large bodies of water, due to pressure difference inside the first chamber and the ambient pressure, water fills the first chamber. As the water passes through the first chamber, it turns the turbine or creates pressure difference in transducer to produce electricity. The device descends itself in the deeper water column due to added water in first chamber. When the device obtains equilibrium, the compressed air/fluid from second chamber is allowed to flow to the first chamber to evacuate the filled water. The evacuating water again turns the turbine or creates pressure difference in transducer to produce electricity. After evacuation of water, the device will ascend itself to a shallower depth and the process repeats.
