A fixed relationship between a moving distance between subsequent spatial pattern positions, and a scanning distance between subsequent scanning positions exists. The light reflected by the surface is detected in scanning positions with the spatial pattern having corresponding spatial pattern positions. From the detected light for each spatial position of the surface, an envelope curve of intensity values corresponding to scanning positions is determined.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 3, 2015Publication date: August 6, 2015Applicant: MITUTOYO CORPORATIONInventors: Han HAITJEMA, Frans de NOOIJ, Lukasz REDLARSKI

Publication number: 20150219443Abstract: Under a known pressure is externally applied to a reference member to which an optical fiber is fixed, test light is allowed to enter the optical fiber, and at least one of a reference Brillouin measurement for determining a reference Brillouin frequency shift amount based on the Brillouin scattering phenomenon, and a reference Rayleigh measurement for determining a reference Rayleigh frequency shift amount based on the Rayleigh scattering phenomenon is performed. A Brillouin measurement coefficient or a Rayleigh measurement coefficient is determined from these calculation results. An optical fiber is fixed to a sample member, the volumetric change of which is unknown, and the same sample Brillouin measurement or sample Rayleigh measurement is performed to determine the frequency shift amount. The volumetric change of the sample member is determined from the sample Brillouin or the sample Rayleigh frequency shift amount, and from the Brillouin or the Rayleigh measurement coefficient.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 10, 2012Publication date: August 6, 2015Applicants: NEUBREX CO., LTD., RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY FOR THE EARTHInventors: Ziqiu Xue, Yoshiaki Yamauchi, Kinzo Kishida

Publication number: 20150219444Abstract: A method for determining residual stresses of a component (14), in particular a component of an aircraft engine, while it is being manufactured by an additive manufacturing process. The method includes the following steps: creating at least one local melt pool (26) in a surface (24) of the component (14) to be manufactured after a predetermined portion of the component is completed; optically detecting surface distortions and/or elongations occurring at least in a region around the created melt pool (26); and determining the residual stresses of the component (14) which are present at least in the region around the created melt pool (26) based on the optically detected surface distortions and/or elongations. Further an apparatus for determining residual stresses of a component (14) while it is being manufactured by an additive manufacturing process is provided.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 4, 2015Publication date: August 6, 2015Inventors: Joachim Bamberg, Roland Hessert

Publication number: 20150219445Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method for sensing one or more selected parameters related to a structure of interest, for example, the shape of an isolated structure. A cable is attached to the structure of interest at one or more attachment points. The cable contains one or more optical fibers. One or more light signals are transmitted into the one or more optical fibers and then detected to form a data set. The data set is compared with information known about the one or more attachment points to determine error values. The error values are then combined with the data set to determine the selected parameters associated with the structure.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 6, 2014Publication date: August 6, 2015Applicant: BAKER HUGHES INCORPORATEDInventors: Roger Glen Duncan, Matthew Thomas Raum, Christopher H. Publication number: 20150219446Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for measuring parameters of integrated circuit devices may be provided. The methods may include performing detecting operations on samples to obtain a set of data. Each detecting operation may include irradiating a light beam to the samples using a light irradiation part and detecting reflected light from the samples using a light detector. The samples may have values of a parameter different from one another. The method may also include obtaining a principal component based on the set of data and obtaining a regression model for the parameter using the principal component and values of the parameter of the samples.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 5, 2015Publication date: August 6, 2015Inventors: Choon-Shik LEEM, Woo-Jin Jung, Ji-Hye Lee, Deok-Yong Kim, Chul-Gi Song, Soo-Bok Chin
