Abstract: Chimneys include several combinable parts usable in nuclear reactors. The parts are modular and removably joinable without destruction for use in directing flow in an operating nuclear reactor and directly fit in storage area during non-operation. Chimney parts are joinable through flanges and connecting structures. Chimney parts may include partitions that divide or direct energetic coolant flow from a nuclear core as well as steam separating and drying structures. The parts each individually fit within storage areas of the nuclear plant, including equipment or buffer pools in the refueling floor of the plant. Methods move the chimney parts between the reactor and storage areas, and multiple parts may be stacked or nested in such moves. Methods are usable underwater and with storage pools to prevent exposure of chimney parts during an outage. During operation, chimneys are usable in place of existing single-piece chimneys.

Abstract: A manufacturing method for a magnet is provided which includes molding, under pressure, magnetic powder in a form of secondary particles resulting from aggregation of primary particles, to obtain a molding. A ratio of an average particle size of the primary particles to a maximum particle size of the secondary particles is 1:150 to 1:200. The magnet in the invention is manufactured by the manufacturing method for a magnet in the invention. The invention allows manufacture of the molding and the magnet in both of which the magnetic powder is densely compressed. The magnet has a high residual magnetic flux density.

Abstract: The variation between different product lots is reduced for plating growth dimensions of plated films to serve as external electrodes. The correlation is grasped in advance among the surface resistance value of a ceramic body, the applying charge amount for electrolytic plating, an actual plating growth dimension obtained when the ceramic body with the surface resistance value is subjected to plating with the foregoing applying charge amount. The surface resistance value is measured for the ceramic body on which plated films to serve as external electrodes are to be formed by applying electrolytic plating, and the applying charge amount required for plating is determined by applying the surface resistance value and a designed value for an intended plating growth dimension to the correlation mentioned above. Thereafter, in order to form the plated films, the ceramic body is subjected to electrolytic plating, with the applying charge amount determined.
