Abstract: A clamping device for securely engaging one or more objects through the application of force. The clamping device includes a primary member having opposed interior and exterior surfaces. The primary member has a generally cylindrical shape such that the interior surface defines a generally circular space about the center axis of the primary member. The clamping device can receive an elongated member through the generally circular space circumscribed by the primary member. The primary member is adapted for clamping and releasing. The clamping device further incorporates a means for releasably engaging the elongated member. The means for releasably engaging the elongated member is attached to the primary member such that when the means for releasably engaging the elongated member is in the closed position, the elongated member is securely retained by the clamping device through the application of pressure.

Abstract: A hand held exercise and fitness device includes a head section and a handle section. The head section has a variably Tillable hollow core portion and a handle attachment portion, an added weight being disposed within the head section and shifting with movement of the head section. The handle section has a head attachment portion and a gripping portion, and is made from a a couple of shells that are joined to one another to form an elongated member. The head section and the handle section are locked to one another by causing retainers protruding from the head attachment portion of the handle section to engage depressions defined on the handle attachment portion of the head section.

Abstract: A yoga mat comprising at least one folding depression which enables folding and rolling of a yoga mat so that the width of the mat is typically less than the shoulder width of the user of the yoga mat. The at least one folding depression is typically on the upper, user-contacting surface of the yoga mat. In instances where the overall thickness of the yoga mat is greater than about 0.35 inches, it is advisable to use a location matching folding depression on each side of the yoga mat. The folding depression may be deeper on the user-contacting surface than on the floor contacting surface of the yoga mat. In an alternative embodiment, the upper surface of the yoga mat may be a solid layer, with at least two underlying spaced lower sections to permit folding inward upon the solid layer.

Abstract: Provided is an impact point estimation apparatus for estimating an impact point on a face surface of a head when a golf club having a grip, a shaft and the head is swung and hits a golf ball. The apparatus has an acquisition unit, a calculation unit, and an estimation unit. The acquisition unit is configured to acquire time series sensor data that is output from at least one of an angular velocity sensor and an acceleration sensor that is attached to at least one of the grip and the shaft. The calculation unit is configured to calculate a characteristic value of an initial stress wave that occurs due to impact from the sensor data acquired in an analysis period including an initial period after impact. The estimation unit is configured to estimate the impact point on the face surface, according to the characteristic value. The analysis period is before a predetermined short time period has elapsed from impact.

Abstract: A system and method for tracking running activity that includes an activity monitor device with an inertial measurement system, a communication module, a processor configured to generate a set of biomechanical signals from kinematic data collected from the inertial measurement system, a housing that internally contains the inertial measurement system, the communication module, and the processor, and an electrical interface exposed on the external side of the housing; and a user application operable on a second computing device distinct from the activity monitor device; wherein communication and generation of biomechanical signals are operable in many modes.

Abstract: A system and method for customizing biomechanical wearable sensors can include a customizable biomechanical processing layer, activity model layer, and/or device communication and processing management. The system and method can include monitoring biomechanical signals at a first set of wearable sensors configured in an initial biomechanical processing configuration; selecting a configuration option for the first set of wearable sensors; delivering the configuration option to the at least one wearable sensor; and monitoring biomechanical signals according to an altered biomechanical processing configuration that is altered according to the configuration option.

The device includes: a user output arm movably attached to a base frame; an actuator attached between the user output arm and the base frame, the actuator including a motor and an output shaft connected to the user output arm; at least one position sensor attached to the actively controlled exercise device adjacent to the user output arm for detecting a position and velocity of the output arm; a load cell attached to the actively controlled exercise device adjacent to the actuator for detecting a force exerted on the user output arm; and a force controller in communication with the position sensor, the load cell, and the actuator for activating the actuator to impart a force on the user output arm during an exercise repetition.

Abstract: This device is a balance board used for core exercise, balance training, and training for rotational motion applicable to various board sports. The invention consists of a board or deck upon which the user stands having the shape and contours of a traditional skateboard deck. On the underside of the board are three half spherical fulcrum points fixed at specific locations. The primary fulcrum point is the largest and is located in the center of the board. The additional two fulcrum points are smaller and are located one each at the nose and tail of the board. This orientation allows the user to spin freely on the board on a horizontal axis. Rotational motion is possible on any of the three fulcrum points depending on the user's ability.

The method includes choosing control points of a polyhedron, generating an irregular domain based on those control points, packing the irregular domain with dimples, and tessellating the irregular domain to cover the surface of the golf ball. The control points include the center of a polyhedral face, a vertex of the polyhedron, a midpoint or other point on an edge of the polyhedron and others. The method ensures that the symmetry of the underlying polyhedron is preserved while minimizing or eliminating great circles due to parting lines.

Abstract: Multi-piece golf balls containing a dual-layered core structure are provided. The core structure includes a small, heavy inner core (center) having a relatively high specific gravity, and a surrounding outer core layer. The layers of the core structure may have different hardness gradients. The center of the core comprises a metal material such as copper, steel, brass, tungsten, titanium, aluminum, and alloys thereof preferably dispersed in a thermoplastic polymeric matrix. Different plasticizer such as fatty acid esters may be used. The outer core layer is preferably formed from a thermoset composition such as polybutadiene. The resulting ball has high resiliency and good spin.

Abstract: Multi-layered golf balls containing a three-layered cover assembly are provided. For example, a cover assembly having an inner cover, intermediate cover, and outer cover layer may be prepared. At least one of the cover layers is formed from a thermoplastic composition that preferably comprises: a) thermoplastic non-acid polymer, and b) plasticizer. A fatty acid ester such as ethyl oleate is preferably used as the plasticizer. Suitable non-acid polymers include, for example, polyesters, polyamides, polyolefins, and polyurethanes. The cover assembly has good impact durability and helps provide the ball with relatively high resiliency at given compressions.

Where the total weight of the practice ball is greater than that of a corresponding regulation ball, the player will also be benefitting from strength training.

Abstract: A ball holder for a table tennis table designed for non-intrusive mounting under a corner of a table tennis table. The ball holder can be manufactured in two parts for ease of sale and construction, with the two halves being easily assembled and secured by the user. The two halves can connect using a set of male and female tabs, and secure using a set of bolts. The full assembly can attach to the table tennis table through the use of four screws. Properly assembled, the ball holder can contain multiple table tennis balls in an easily accessible position, but without obstructing the players' range of motion or creating a hazard.

Abstract: A co-forged iron type golf club is disclosed. More specifically, the present invention discloses a co-forged iron type golf club with the body portion made out of a first material and at least one weight adjustment portion monolithically encased within the body portion of the co-forged iron type golf club head without the need for secondary attachment or machining operations. The present invention creates of an iron type golf club head from a pre-form billet that already contains two or more materials before the actual forging process resulting in a multi-material golf club head that doesn't require any post manufacturing operations such as machining, welding, swaging, gluing, and the like.

The playing system has a first surface with a shooting region and a scoring region, and a second surface parallel to the first and has substantially the same dimensions. The first and second surfaces each have a circular hole with a center located within about 12 inches of one end of the first and second surfaces. The first surface has a goal disposed substantially on one end of the first surface. The goal has at least two vertical side posts, a horizontal crossbar, and a mesh net connected to the side posts and crossbar extending within the entire goal and configured to trap a ball within the goal. The portable playing system has a first playing position with the first surface up, and a second playing position with the second surface up.

The processor is configured to compute one or more shot statistics from the tracked flight of the golf ball and display the one or more computed shot statistics within the field of view of the user via the heads up display. The one or more shot statistics include at least one of an initial ball speed, a spin rate, a carry, and a remaining distance to the pin.

The method may include detecting a first characteristic of a signal responsive to a CC timing of a user that repeats at a frequency that corresponds to a heart rate of the user; detecting a second characteristic of a signal responsive to a rhythmic musculoskeletal cycle activity (MSKC) timing of the user that repeats at a frequency that corresponds to the MSKC rate of the user; determining a value representative of an actual timing relationship between the first characteristic and the second characteristic; detecting a third characteristic of a signal corresponding to a physiological metric that varies with the actual timing relationship between the first and second characteristics; and determining a target value representative of a preferred timing relationship between the first and second characteristics.

Abstract: Various embodiments provide a system including connected system nodes, the system configured to provide timing and scoring for aquatic sports in pools. The spatial location of the nodes relative to the pool and pool reference points may be retrieved from the system and representations can be created. The representations may be used to first select the desired nodes for one or several sports events and then execute those sports events with the selected nodes. Electrical connections may be made from materials that withstand aggressive pool chemicals, such as titanium, Hastelloy or Inconel.

A Civil war game designed for at least two players who each control an army, and an Arbiter. The arbiter decides the results of challenges between opposing playing pieces. Abstract: An electronic word game uses a plurality of tiles and electronic rack to make one or more words. The tiles are received in a plurality of receivers in the rack enabling electronic communication between the tiles and rack. Each tile includes a display screen, a microprocessor, and communication means. The rack includes an on-off switch, microprocessor, speaker, power source, and a means of communicating with each tile. A capacitor in each tile provides power to keep the display screen on temporarily after the tile is removed from the rack. The microprocessor includes a means for selecting a word to be spelled based on the number of tiles selected to play the game (between 3 and 7 tiles), a means for determining whether a word has been formed, and a means to signal the player that a word has been formed.
