Abstract: The image display device includes a front CF-less liquid crystal panel, a first light guide plate, a PDLC panel, and a rear CF-less liquid crystal panel that are arranged sequentially, and a light-guide plate light source unit. At an image displaying time, the PDLC panel becomes in a spreading state. At this time, light source light emitted by the light-guide plate light source unit is guided to the first light guide plate, and is applied to the PDLC panel. The light source light spread by the PDLC panel is applied to the front CF-less liquid crystal panel and the rear CF-less liquid crystal panel. At an image non-displaying time, the PDLC panel becomes in a transmittance state, and transmits background light.

Abstract: An electro-optic display has a plurality of pixels, each of which is capable of displaying two extreme optical states and at least one intermediate gray level. Each pixel is driven from an initial intermediate gray level to one extreme optical state and then to a first desired intermediate gray level, so producing a first image on the display. The pixel then remains at this first desired intermediate gray level for a finite length of time. The pixel is then driven from this first desired intermediate gray level to the opposed extreme optical state and then to a second desired intermediate gray level, so producing a second image on the display.

  • Patent number: 9620060
Abstract: A source-drain voltage of one of two transistors connected in series becomes quite small in a set operation (write signal), thus the set operation is performed to the other transistor. In an output operation, two transistors operate as a multi-gate transistor, therefore, a current value can be small in the output operation. In other words, a current can be large in the set operation. Therefore, the set operation can be performed rapidly without being easily influenced by an intersection capacitance and a wiring resistance which are parasitic on a wiring and the like. Further, an influence of variations between adjacent ones can be small as one same transistor is used in the set operation and the output operation.

Abstract: An underwater image projection system submerged in a body of water and projecting an image within said body of water is provided having an enclosure with a lens assembly. A projection element has a light source projecting an image within the body of water from the projection element with an at least one light source steering the image. A system controller is coupled to and controls the projected light source, the projected light source steering device and the further image steering device. A user inputs image data to the controller through the user input device and the controller interprets the image data into a set of image control variables and executes control of the projected light source and image source and further image steering device in coordination and projects the image through the projection element to project from underwater a static or animated image on an underwater surface of the body of water.

Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods for synchronizing backlight adjustments to frame updates in a display pipeline. A change in the ambient light is detected and as a result, backlight settings are adjusted. To offset a reduction in the backlight, the color intensity in the frames is increased. While the change in ambient light is detected asynchronously, the adjustment to the backlight settings and color intensity is synchronized to a frame update via a virtual channel for the auxiliary channel of the display interface.

Abstract: Various approaches for selection of graphical objects in a web browser-based application are described. In one approach, a selection overlay is stored in a web document. The selection overlay encompasses a plurality of user-selectable graphical objects in the web document occupies a highest position in layers of graphical objects in the web document and includes a plurality of selection regions. Each selection region is respectively associated with one of the plurality of graphical objects and defines a region of selectability for the associated graphical object. In response to the web browser-based application detecting entry of a user-directed pointer into one of the selection regions in the selection overlay, the graphical object associated with the one selection region is selected for user manipulation and displayed.

Abstract: Various embodiments present a combined visual entity that represents overlapping visual entities. The combined visual entity can include a primary visualization that represents one of the overlapping visual entities and annotations that represent others of the overlapping visual entities. For example, a map view can include multiple geographical entities that overlap. A primary visualization can be rendered that represents one of the multiple geographical entities. The primary visualization can be visually annotated (e.g., with symbols, letters, or other visual indicators) to indicate others of the multiple geographical entities. In some embodiments, a zoom operation can cause visual entities to be added and/or removed from the combined visual entity.

Abstract: A multimedia interaction system includes: multiple electronic devices and a location detection circuit. The location detection circuit dynamically detects respective electronic device's spatial position and orientation. When an user instructs a source electronic device of the multiple electronic devices to transmit a target image object toward a selected direction, the source electronic device decides a target direction according to a location of a first candidate electronic device and the selected direction if a relative position between the first candidate electronic and the selected direction satisfies a first predetermined condition. The source electronic device transmits a target command corresponding to the target image object to a second candidate electronic device to perform corresponding multimedia interaction operations only if a relative position between the second candidate electronic and the target direction satisfies a second predetermined condition.

  • Patent number: 9620088
Abstract: Technologies for low-power display refresh standby include a computing device with a display such as an LCD panel. The computing device may include a system-on-a-chip (SoC) with a processor, I/O subsystem, display controller, and memory. When the computing device determines that a display image is static, the computing device enters a low-power display refresh standby mode, powering down unneeded components of the SoC such as processor cores, peripheral devices, and memory other than a dedicated display buffer. The display controller may access the dedicated display buffer via the I/O subsystem and output the image to the display. The computing device may power down the I/O subsystem and the dedicated display buffer when a display controller FIFO is full of image data, and periodically power on the I/O subsystem and display buffer to fill the display controller FIFO. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

  • Patent number: 9620093
Abstract: Musical instruments are circumscribed to their physical boundaries. They produce sound through vibrations at different frequencies constraint by the instruments themselves. The representation of these frequencies, rather than geometrical and mathematically simple, is the result of very complex vibration patterns. Some instruments get away with arranging individual notes to the player's convenience by the inclusion of multiple individual instruments within one body. The piano is a prominent example of an instrument with manipulated note architecture. It has an individual musical instrument for each sound although still circumscribed to a common body with its sound implications. However it follows a chromatic pattern, including consecutive series of each musical note according to its pitch rather than taking full advantage of its opportunity to translate the complex frequency behavior of notes into geometrical, visual patterns.
