Abstract: A digital wearable monitoring device with dual locking system allows parents to monitor and locate a missing or wandering child. The monitoring device is secured to a child and can be removed through biometric signatures of a parent or authorized guardians. The monitoring device is preferred to be a wrist strap; however, the present invention may take the form of a belt, necklace, bracelet, earring, or any other applicable clothing accessory. The monitoring device includes a tactile sensor and at least one input device. The tactile sensor allows the wearer to write, draw, or tap a message to be processed and transmitted to a parent or authority. A location device then allows the parent or authority to locate and rescue the wearer.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a cluster application generates navigation-related data based on observations received from vehicles. In operation, the cluster application computes an oriented distance between two observed object positions based on a heading, where each observed object position is associated with a different one of two observations. The cluster application then generates a cluster that includes the two observations based on the oriented distance. Subsequently, the cluster application computes an object position that is associated with the cluster based on the two observations. The cluster application transmits the object position and at least one characteristic associated with the observations to a update application that generates an update to a road database. Because the cluster application computes the object position based on multiple observations that are likely of a single object, the object position associated with the cluster may be more reliable than the observed object positions.

Abstract: The present invention extends to methods, systems, and computer program products for using virtual data to test and train parking space detection systems. Aspects of the invention integrate a virtual driving environment with sensor models (e.g., of a radar system) to provide virtual radar data in relatively large quantities in a relatively short amount of time. The sensor models perceive values for relevant parameters of a training data set. Relevant parameters can be randomized in the recorded data to ensure a diverse training data set with minimal bias. Since the driving environment is virtualized, the training data set can be generated alongside ground truth data. The ground truth data is used to annotate true locations, which are used to train a parking space classification algorithms to detect the free space boundaries.

Abstract: An inter-vehicle management apparatus acquires scene information about a driving scene of a host vehicle, estimates the driving scene based on the scene information acquired, acquires behavior information about a driving behavior of the host vehicle driven by the user, determines a driving risk of the host vehicle driven by the user, based on the driving scene estimated and on the behavior information acquired, and controls a presentation of assist information by an information presentation unit in order to prompt the user to address the driving risk. When the driving scene estimated represents a follow-up traveling state of the host vehicle following the preceding vehicle, the assist information to be presented by the information presentation unit is selected based on a magnitude of the driving risk determined before the operation by an emergency control unit.

Abstract: A lane assistance system of a host vehicle for reacting to fast and extremely fast approaching vehicles includes a rear radar sensing unit having a sensor and an electronic controller. The electronic controller determines the distance and relative velocity of the fast approaching vehicle to the host vehicle. Further, depending on the closeness of the approaching vehicle, the lane of the approaching vehicle is determined from angular resolution of the radar signal. When the vehicle is approaching at an extremely fast rate and the angular resolution of the radar signal is not capable of determining an exact relative lane of the approaching vehicle due to the vehicle being too far away, the assistance system warns against or prevents lane changes by the host vehicle.

Abstract: A vehicle monitoring and traffic enforcement system in which a wireless communication device is associated with motor vehicles. The device will transmit vehicle identification data which is relayed to a database which maintains current information concerning insurance law compliance, motor vehicle registration and licensing compliance, traffic citations and other information If a violation or compliance failure is noted, this is transmitted to a law enforcement agency and a nearby law enforcement vehicle A law enforcement officer may be required to pursue the vehicle depending on the violation and traffic conditions The system uses GPS and GIs technology to provide law enforcement with a real time display which will not only show the vehicle being tracked but also a map of the area showing roads, traffic conditions and even the location of other law enforcement or emergency vehicles so that officials may make a safe and fast response to situations.
