Publication number: 20200263445Abstract: Although Fiber Reinforced Polymers (FRPs), as alternatives for the corrosive steel reinforcement in concrete structures, have shown promising performance under gravity loads, their performance under reversal cyclic loading is still one of the main concerns. The linear behavior of FRP reinforcement has a two-sided effect on the seismic performance of FRP-reinforced concrete (RC) moment-resisting frames. Although the linear nature of FRP reinforcement could be advantageous in terms of limiting the residual damage after an earthquake event, it lowers the energy dissipation of the structure which can compromise its seismic performance. Disclosed herein is the addition of steel plates at selected locations in moment-resisting frames to improve seismic performance of FRP-RC structures while still being able to take advantage of its linear behaviour (minimal residual damage after earthquake). The effectiveness of the proposed solution was tested both experimentally and analytically.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 13, 2018Publication date: August 20, 2020Inventors: Ehab El-Salakawy, Shervin Khalili Ghomi

Publication number: 20200263470Abstract: A drive device for a movable furniture part includes an ejection force accumulator which can be tensioned, and an ejection element mechanically loaded by the ejection force accumulator and used to carry out an ejection movement of the moveable furniture part from a closed position into an open position. The ejection movement can be initiated by a compression movement of the movable furniture part into a compression position which is behind the closed position. The drive device also comprises a tensioning device for tensioning the ejection force accumulator with energy which can be emitted by the ejection movement. During the compression movement, at least 50% of the energy emitted by the ejection force accumulator during the ejection movement can be introduced into the ejection force accumulator by the tensioning device.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 8, 2020Publication date: August 20, 2020Inventors: Fredi DUBACH, Marco RUECKER

Publication number: 20200263472Abstract: The present invention pertains to the technological sector of household items and refers, more specifically, to a passive safety device applied to doors in order to prevent them, when closing unexpectedly, from causing accidents to body parts of humans or animals. Since the safety devices applied for this purpose present the obstacle of being removed or disarmed when the user wishes to close the door (7), the present invention presents a passive combination (1) endowed with rod (2) and fastening element (4) that should be attached to the handle (5) present on the door (7) in such a way as to move together with it (5). This causes the rod (2) endowed or not with a stop (3) to stand between the door (7) and the frame (6) passively in order to prevent the unexpected closing of the door and preserve the security space (8) preventing body parts of people or animals from being crushed.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 31, 2018Publication date: August 20, 2020Inventor: Daniel PRUJA

Publication number: 20200263475Abstract: A fenestration assembly includes an operator assembly having an escutcheon configured for coupling with the fenestration assembly. A handle linkage is coupled with the escutcheon and rotatable relative to the escutcheon. The handle linkage includes a handle arm rotatably coupled with the escutcheon and a handle knob rotatably coupled with the handle arm. An articulating joint is between the handle arm and the handle knob. The handle linkage is movable between stowed and operational configurations. In the stowed configuration the handle linkage is seated along the escutcheon, and the handle arm and the handle knob are aligned. In the operational configuration the handle linkage is unseated from the escutcheon, the handle knob and the handle arm are misaligned with the handle knob at an operating angle relative to the handle arm, and the handle linkage is configured to open and close a fenestration panel.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 18, 2020Publication date: August 20, 2020Inventor: Ross Michael Hollermann
