Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods for treating a glaucomatous eye are provided. An amount of pulsed laser energy is delivered to the pars plana of the eye by a hand-holdable device which comprises a hand-holdable elongate member and a contact member disposed on an end of the elongate member. A contact surface of the contact member is placed in direct contact with the eye so that a reference edge of the contact member aligns with the limbus and a treatment axis defined by the elongate member is angularly offset from the optical axis of the eye. The amount of pulsed laser energy delivered is insufficient to effect therapeutic photocoagulation but is sufficient to increase uveoscleral outflow so as to maintain a reduction from pre-laser treatment intraocular pressure. Amounts of pulsed laser energy will be transmitted to a circumferential series of tissue regions of the eye.

Abstract: The present pair of eye pieces may have a rotatable adjuster on the super structure of the eye pieces or on the headband between the eye pieces. When the rotatable adjuster is rotated one way, the headband decreases in effective length and tightens about the head of a user. When the rotatable adjuster is rotated the other way, the headband increases in effective length and loosens about the head of the user. With a rotatable adjuster, increases and decreases in length may be made in minute increments.

Abstract: The invention provides a pressure equalization or tympanostomy tube for draining and ventilating the middle ear. The tube comprises a short cylindrical body having a first planer extension or flange and a second planer extension or flange. The first flange being equipped with segments which may be trimmed to size to allow for in-theater sizing by a surgeon. In one embodiment, the tube includes a cylindrical bore and in another embodiment, the tube includes a square bore which includes a flap valve for regulating pressure in a patient's middle ear.

The apparatus comprises an absorbent layer for absorbing wound exudate, a liquid impermeable, gas permeable filter layer over the absorbent layer, a cover layer comprising at least one orifice and a first liquid and gas permeable transmission layer underlying the absorbent layer. The transmission layer is in fluid communication with the filter layer.

Abstract: A compression garment for providing an adjustable pressure towards a body part is disclosed. The compression garment comprises a unitary single sheet of elastic material arranged to encircle the full circumference of a body part, such as a limb or the head. The sheet is folded or arranged to be folded in at least one predefined way, so that the folding forms one or more defined overlap(s) forming at least two overlaying layers of the sheet encircling the full circumference of a part of the body part. Hereby, the pressure profile of the garment can easily be adjusted by making use of the garment in different folded configurations. Markings may further be provided to provide guidance towards the predefined ways of folding.

Abstract: An absorbent article includes bond seams that are positioned forwardly towards the article central longitudinal direction from the lateral-most side edges of the article, and which are aligned with the highest point of high rise leg openings on the article. The absorbent article is conformable on both front and back panels, with the front panel being narrower in dimension than the back panel. The bond seams and leg openings can be seen on the front surface of the relaxed and flattened absorbent article. Such absorbent article may be manufactured along the article transverse direction by use of differential tension during manufacture, or differential retractive properties of elastic base materials.

Abstract: The present invention comprises methods and devices for collection of fluids, including cells and cellular materials, from the uterus. A device of the present invention comprises a central tubing member to which, at least, a flexible tubing member and an absorbable member are connected at least at one point. The absorbable member is connected to at least one portion of the central tubing member and to at least one portion of the flexible tubing member. The devices of the present invention are useful in methods of collection of uterine fluids, including blood, cells and cellular material.

The patient support apparatus also comprises a lift assembly that operates to lift and lower the support frame relative to the base. The lift assembly comprises lift members that extend and collapse to lift and lower the support frame. A timing link is pivotally connected to one of the lift members and pivotally connected to the base. Guides operate to guide movement of the lift members during operation. In some cases guided bodies coupled to the lift members move passively in the guides. In other embodiments, driven members coupled to the lift members move actively in the guides to cause lifting and lowering of the support frame.

The bed also has a foot board assembly connected to the foot section, the foot board assembly having a foot board separately moveable about a longitudinal axis of the bed toward the head end and the foot end of the bed.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing traction to the lower back, where in one embodiment, a lumbar traction device has a back support, a base and a movable support structure connected between the base and the underside of the back support. The support structure enables the back support to move with respect to the base. When a user lies on the lumbar traction device, the user's weight causes the back support to move with respect to the base to apply tension to the user's back. The back support may have two separate portions on which the upper and lower back rest. The two portions of the back support move in opposite directions to provide traction on the back.

Abstract: A method for inducing knee flexion is described that includes securing a knee rehabilitation device to a leg, the rehabilitation device includes a frame with a handle on a proximal end, a pad piece on a distal end, and a strap between the proximal end and the distal end. The method further includes positioning the knee rehabilitation device on the person's leg such that the handle is above a knee on the leg, the pad piece is on an ankle of the leg, and the strap is located behind the person's leg between the knee and ankle. A first force is then applied to the handle in a first direction. The pad piece is actuated in response to the first force to move in a second direction which applies a second force to the ankle of the leg in a direction to cause flexion of the knee.

The upper-body apparatus is mounted above the lower-body exercise equipment for adding pull-up and pull-out functionality thereto. The upper-body apparatus has two tension elements depending from and spaced apart along a mounting surface above the lower-body exercise equipment. Each tension elements terminates in a swivel-connected handle just above the head of the user. An elastic cord interconnects the cuffs of the handles. The handles and elastic cords facilitate the pull-up and pull-out functionality for the user of the lower-body exercise equipment.

Abstract: A rejuvenation and massage device is provided for treating mucosa tissue, such as vaginal tissue, affected by Vaginal Relaxation Syndrome (VRS) or other conditions, through vibration, thermal loading, and light emittance for a duration of time. In one embodiment, the device is an insertable device that includes Low-Level Laser Light (LLLT) therapy to treat the vaginal tissue. The light emittance by one or more light emitters is in a range sufficient to provide therapeutic effects through light radiation. A Graphical User Interface (GUI) is provided for presenting on a computing device a listing of bathing unit systems owned and operated by different customers. The GUI is also configured for displaying operational status indicators associated with at least some of the bathing unit systems presented in the listing of bathing unit systems. Data conveying updated operational status information pertaining to one or more of the bathing unit systems in the listing of bathing unit systems is received over a communication network and, in response, the GUI is dynamically adapted to display updated operational status indicators. User operable inputs may also be provided by the GUI to allow a user to add a new entry to the listing of bathing unit systems.
