A base set-point value (FBB*) is supplied to a bending controller to determine a resultant set-point value (FB*). An actual value (FB) of the bending force is also supplied to the bending controller to determine a base controlled variable (SB) for the bending system so that, when the bending system is actuated with (SB), (FB) is brought as close as possible to (FBB*). From a stabilisation time (t3) after an entry time (t2), the bending controller determines (FB*), additionally taking an actual rolling force (F) into consideration. During an entry time period before (t2) and ending at (t3), an additional set-point value (FBZ*) is supplied to the bending controller for determining (FB*). (FB) is thus greater than (FBB*).

Abstract: A method may include coating a substrate with a solution, where the solution includes one or more metal salts and a first solvent. The one or more metal salts may be configured to dissolve in the first solvent. The method may further include adding a second solvent to the coated substrate until one or more metal salt crystals precipitate over a surface of substrate. The second solvent may include an antisolvent where the one or more metal salts of the solution are insoluble in the second solvent. The method may further include performing a microwave heating process to apply microwave heat to the substrate while the second solvent is present to induce thermal decomposition of the one or more metal salts until one or more metal nanostructures are formed on the surface of the substrate.

Abstract: A method of additive manufacturing an article from a feed material in a chamber includes evacuating at least some of a first gas from the chamber, thereby reducing a pressure therein from a first pressure to a second pressure and reducing the first gas from a first concentration to a second concentration. At least some of the first gas is then gettered from the chamber using a getter, thereby lowering the first gas concentration to a third concentration. The article is then additive manufactured from the feed material in the chamber using the getter as a substrate. The gettering comprises heating the getter at least in part using a fusion source, and the additive manufacturing comprises heating the feed material at least in part using the fusion source.

Abstract: A method of automated alignment of scanning optics includes the steps of irradiating an object area of a layer of a powdered material provided on a building platform with at least one irradiation beam and irradiating a calibration area of the layer with at least one irradiation beam. A first irradiation beam is guided with a first scanning optic over an intermediate top face thereby melting a first calibration pattern into the intermediate top face and a second irradiation beam is guided with a second scanning optic over the intermediate top face thereby melting a second calibration pattern into the intermediate top face. At least one image is acquired of the intermediate top face and image points related to the geometrical features of the calibration patterns are identified so that a spatial offset between the geometrical features can be derived. Based on the spatial offset, the scanning optics are aligned.
