Patent number: 12172152Abstract: There is disclosed photoactive, one-dimensional zinc and cobalt-based bimetallic oxide and sulfide nanorods (ZnCo2O4 NRs, ZnCo2S4 NRs) and their heterojunction composites (1D/1D ZnCo2O4/ZnCo2S4) to be used as photocatalysts for hydrogen production and carbon dioxide reduction using solar energy. Also disclosed herein, is a method of synthesizing these compounds via hydrothermal processes and a self-assembly approach. 1D/1D heterojunctions of ZnCo2O4/ZnCo2S4 composites exhibit favourable interface interactions. The photocatalytic performance of both pure and composite materials is evaluated through water splitting to produce hydrogen and CO2 reduction to yield CO and CH4 using slurry phase and fixed bed photoreactor systems. ZnCo2S4 NRs demonstrate superior hydrogen production whereas CO2 reduction is more pronounced with ZnCo2O4. The highest photocatalytic efficiency is achieved using the heterojunction composites attributed to efficient charge carrier separation facilitated by a suitable band structure.Type: GrantFiled: May 10, 2024Date of Patent: December 24, 2024Assignee: UNITED ARAB EMIRATES UNIVERSITYInventor: Muhammad Tahir

Patent number: 12172193Abstract: A system and method for scanning, sorting, repairing and packaging hardwood flooring pieces is provided. The system provides a scanning section, a sorting section, an assessment section and a packaging section. The scanning section identifies problematic pieces. The sorting section automatically sorts and completes rows of hardwood flooring pieces. The assessment section filters and repairs identified pieces and the packaging section packages rows of hardwood flooring pieces. The use of manpower may be limited to certain tasks only, such as the analysis of the identified boards, the repairing or the packaging. An algorithm is tracking each of the pieces of the system and may thus manage the optimal functioning of the system. A method for scanning, sorting, assessing and packaging hardwood flooring pieces is further provided.Type: GrantFiled: February 16, 2023Date of Patent: December 24, 2024Assignee: MEKANIKA INC.Inventors: Patrice Faucher, Richard Audet
