  • Patent number: 6945858
Abstract: A method is disclosed for constructing non-seamed stone corners for use on outside edges formed by joining thin stone walls at right angles. Thin stone is used to lay the field of the walls. Then a building stone is oriented and fed down a chute, having perpendicular sides, through two stone cutting saws at right angles to one another, where the distance between the saw blades and the sides of the chute correspond to the thickness of the respective thin stone walls, and where the cutting edges of the saw blades have a clearance between them of about one-eighth of an inch. A residual piece is removed from the cut building stone, leaving a corner stone. These corner stones are laid on the corner formed by the right angle joint between the walls, giving the illusion of a thick building stone wall with nearly the low cost and easy laying of thin stone. Where the residual piece is large enough, it is used to cut a second corner stone in the same manner.

  • Patent number: 6939199
Abstract: Improperly mounted wafer saw blades can damage wafers cut or diced with the blades. Embodiments of this invention employ sensors to measure a distance to the blade to help indicate if the blade is improperly mounted. In one method of the invention, a the distance to the blade face is measured as the blade is rotated and a variance in this measured distance is determined. If the variance is no greater than a predetermined maximum, the blade may be used to cut the wafer. In one apparatus of the invention, a wafer saw include a blade and a sensor. The sensor is adapted to monitor a distance to a face of the rotating blade. Abstract: A masonry cutter comprising a tripod having legs for straddling the masonry to be cut and a cutting assembly mounted between the legs. The cutting assembly comprises a cutting element, preferably a circular saw, and a means for operating the cutting element. The legs may be vertically adjustable. Adjustment of the legs permits changing the angle between a plane parallel to the cutting element and a plane parallel with the masonry to be cut. The tripod may be mounted to a frame by means of a pivot with a vertical pivot axis passing through the pivot. This allows the tripod legs to be positioned and the cutting assembly to be oriented so that the first and second axes are in a desired direction with reference to the masonry to be cut. In one embodiment, the masonry to be cut is a sidewalk slab and the apparatus is used to remove trip hazards from the sidewalk slab. The masonry cutter may be removably mounted to a vehicle.

Abstract: Base seat of a pneumatic grinder, including an air way and a water way disposed in the base seat to respectively communicate with an air chamber and a water chamber formed in the base seat. Several water outlets and a predetermined number of air rooms are disposed on a bottom face of the base seat. The water outlets communicate with the water chamber, while the air rooms communicate with the air chamber. Multiple ball bodies are respectively rollably disposed in the air rooms, the bottom edge of the ball bodies protrude from the bottom face of the base seat. When high pressure air and water are conducted into the air way and water way, the air is conducted by the air way to flow into the air chamber and to blow to the ball bodies in the air rooms making the ball bodies rolling easily. The water flows through the water way into the water chamber and then flows through the water outlets out of the bottom face of the base seat to reduce frictional force against the bottom face of the base seat.

Abstract: The multi-blade concrete cutting saw cuts blocks of concrete or aerated concrete into equal sized slates with one pass through the saw. The cutting saw is supported by a frame having a base, an upper support structure and a pair of guide rails. A conveyor track transports the concrete blocks through the cutting saw. A concrete block is forced along the conveyor track and passes through six equally spaced, diamond tipped cutting blades. Each of the resultant slates have equal dimensions and weight. The cutting blades are disposed along a drive shaft and are arranged across the width of the conveyor track. The cutting blades are driven in a counterclockwise direction by a drive belt that connects the drive shaft to a motor. The conveyor track may be automatically driven by a pair of belt drives.

  • Patent number: 6826986
Abstract: A sawing system (200) incorporates a vision zone (220) between a loading/unloading zone (115) and a sawing zone (210). This arrangement allows a dual spindle counter rotating saw assembly (230) to be more rigidly mounted, which reduces the displacement of the saw assembly during the sawing process. This, advantageously reduces the variation in the cut made by the saw blades of the saw assembly to comply with a predetermined required tolerance. In addition, with the vision zone (220) located between the loading/unloading zone (115) and the sawing zone (210), a semiconductor wafer or substrate is transported from the loading/unloading zone (115) to the vision zone (220) without passing the sawing zone (210). Consequently, exposure of a semiconductor wafer or substrate to water or debris from the sawing process is avoided, and imaging can be performed at the vision zone (220) without water or debris adversely affecting the imaging.

Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to provide a method for slicing a hard and brittle material having a crystal structure, such as a silicon ingot, and more particularly a hard and brittle material cutting method which solves the problem of worsening variance in thickness, nanotopography, and wafer warpage. The inventors perfected the present invention upon discovering that when retainer plates are bonded to or pressed against the ends of an ingot, and simultaneous slicing with a wire saw is performed along with the retainer plates, a portion of increasing variance in the warpage, nanotopography, and thickness will appear in the portions corresponding to the retainer plates, resulting in a decrease in variance in wafer warpage, nanotopography, and thickness at the ends of the targeted ingot.
