In one embodiment, the securing device extends between opposite end portions of the elongate body, in another the elongate body has tail portions that wrap over and conceal the securing device, and in still another an elastic strap is routed through the teeth.

  • Patent number: 7461661
Abstract: A hair retaining clip includes a base, a locking arm, a hinge, and a locking mechanism. The base includes a first end, a second end and a first elongate section that is resiliently movable relative to the base. The locking arm includes a first end, a second end, and a second elongate section that operatively engages the first elongate section in a closed position. The hinge is disposed on and pivotally connects the first ends of the base and the locking arm. The locking mechanism is disposed on the second ends of the base and the locking arm for locking the clip in a closed position. At least one of the first and second elongate sections are entirely constructed from a high friction material.

Abstract: A hair retaining clip includes clip members that are pivotally connected to one another and movable between a generally open configuration and a generally closed configuration. A hair gripping component is fixedly attached to one of the clip members and is made from a relatively soft material. The hair gripping component is generally shielded from contact with hair within the hair retaining clip when the clip members are in the generally open configuration, and the hair gripping component contacts hair within the hair retaining clip when the clip members are in the generally closed configuration.

  • Patent number: 7326223
Abstract: A polymeric, surgical clip having first and second curved legs with each having a pair of opposing side surfaces joined at their proximal ends by a flexible hinge section and movable from an open position to a closed position for clamping a vessel between curved opposing inner surfaces. The first leg terminates at its distal end in a female locking member, and the second leg member terminates in a male locking member complimentary to the female locking member such that when the first and second leg members are moved from an open position to a closed position about the hinge section the male member is lockingly engaged in the female locking member. The clip has at least one cutting guide extending outward from and disposed along at least a portion of the length of at least one of the side surfaces of at least one of the first and second legs. The cutting guide aids in cutting the ligated tissue a safe distance from the clip such that a tissue cuff is formed.

The first leg terminates at its distal end in a female locking member comprising a resilient inwardly turned hook having a recess in the mouth of the hook, and the second leg member terminates in a male locking member complimentary to the female locking member and comprising a detent such that when the first and second leg members are moved from an open position to a closed position about the hinge section the hook member will deflect about the distal end of the second leg member thereby engulfing the male locking member in the mouth of the hook and matingly engaging the detent in the recess thereof, thus securely locking the clip in the closed position. The locking feature provides greater closure security to the clip when clamping large diameter or uncompressible tissue.

  • Patent number: 6981507
Abstract: Fine or short hair is held in place by a barrette having a fastener material known as Velcro®, comprising hook and loop portions. The barrette comprises a flat strip of flexible material having a decorative upper surface and a lower surface. One end of the strip's lower surface is attached to the hook portion of the fastener material. The loop portion of the fastener material is attached to the lower surface of the other end of the strip. Releasable contact between the hook and loop portions of the fastener material is achieved by bending the strip about a line perpendicular to its length, with the short, fine, curly or kinky hair being trapped by and held between the complementary surfaces of the fastener material. The hooks and loops of the fastener material are closely spaced so that constraining forces are applied to individual hair filaments or small hair filament groups. Fastening is facilitated, optionally by a snap attachment.
