  • Patent number: 11951518
Abstract: A sticker for spacing wood is extruded from an aluminum alloy. The sticker can have different configurations. In a first configuration, the sticker has a width about the same as its height, with longitudinal ridges on all sides that grip wood when wood is stacked on the sticker. In a second configuration, the sticker has a width significantly greater than its height, with longitudinal ridges on the top and bottom surfaces, and with smooth side surfaces. The longitudinal ridges have a height within a specified range and are spaced at a distance peak-to-peak within a specified range. The ridges provide good grip of lumber stacked on the sticker yet do not easily plug with wood fibers through repeated use. The extruded aluminum sticker is very rugged and can be used for hundreds or even thousands of drying cycles.

Abstract: A jig that allows a user to simultaneously cut two workpieces using a router table. The jig includes a first base positioned horizontally on a work surface that is pivotally attached to a second base positioned vertically on a work surface. The first and second base each include an adjustable clamp thereon that can be used to hold a workpiece in place on the router table. The first base further includes a handle thereon. A first workpiece can be positioned horizontally adjacent to the first base, and a second workpiece can be positioned vertically and flush against the second base. The user can move the jig and workpieces towards a router bit so that the workpieces come in contact therewith so as to cut both workpieces successively. In this way, the user can accurately cut two workpieces that fit together to form a right angle.

Abstract: The present invention concerns a method for forming longitudinal undercut grooves in wood products. It also concerns a cutting blade (5, 12, 14, 15) that could be used in the method. According the invention a longitudinal straight groove (4) is formed in a wooden work piece (1) in a first step, for instance by means of a circular saw blade (2). In a second step the work piece (1) is moved pass the cutting blade (5, 12, 14, 15) to form an undercut groove (7, 8, 9, 10), which undercut groove is either symmetric or asymmetric. The cutting blade (5, 12, 14, 15) has a number of cutting heads (6). The cutting width of the cutting heads increase from a first cutting head (6a) to a last cutting head (6b).

Abstract: The preferred embodiment utilizes a key-shaped tenon on a rail that is designed to enter the lock-shaped mortise hole of the stile at the top or bottom of the stile. The key-shaped tenon slides into the top or bottom of the mortise holes of the stiles (i.e. the tenons on the top rail slide into the top of the mortise holes on the top of the left and right stiles while the tenons of the bottom rail slide into the bottom of the mortise holes on the bottom of the left and right stiles). A protrusion on the end of each of the key-shaped tenons of the rails permits it to lodge underneath a lip within each of the lock-shaped mortise holes. Abstract: A component mill for producing wooden construction components has a pair of input rollers spaced from a pair of output rollers, wherein each comprises a pair of vertically-stacked pinch rollers. The mill has an overhead X- and Y-axis track system for scrolling a high speed router bit dangling underneath a high speed motor in X- and Y-directions as the input and/or output rollers pass a board for trimming by the spinning, and perhaps scrolling and not stationed still, router bit. A control system controls the input and output rollers, and X- and Y-axis track system in concert to form a selected design of a wooden construction component output from an inputted board.

Abstract: A system and method for cutting a profile along a linear edge of a wooden workpiece utilizes two spaced-apart rotatable cutting tools whose cutting edges mirror one another and which are mounted for rotation about parallel axes. The cutting tools are rotated in opposite rotational directions, and a support surface supports the workpiece for movement along each of the two cutting tools. By positioning the workpiece upon the support surface so that the linear edge thereof extends between the two cutting tools, the workpiece can be moved in one direction into cutting engagement with a first of the rotating cutting tools and subsequently in the opposite direction into cutting engagement with the second of the rotating cutting tools. By halting and subsequently reversing the movement of the workpiece along the first cutting tool before the cutting edges thereof exit a trailing (side) edge of the workpiece, the likelihood that the workpiece will be damaged from the profile-forming process is reduced.

Abstract: A device that includes a plurality of routers, where the plurality of routers are independently positioned and can be placed in various orientations relative to the object being cut. The plurality of routers can be mounted on the same side, opposite side, or at any angle in between. The plurality of routers can also be positioned in three dimensions such that many different cuts can be made at the same time on objects of various shapes and sizes. Further, each router is easily removed from the device for handheld use, yet easily reattached to the device such that the router is returned to the same position it was in before removal. This creates a device that can make multiple cuts from multiple angles on objects of various shapes and sizes during one pass through the device.

The bit mount is configured to hold a router bit such that the router bit extends from the table top defining a bit axis. The drive train is positioned under the table top and is operably connected between the bit mount and a drive coupling. The drive coupling is configured to engage a driven member, with the drive coupling defining a drive axis that is not coaxial with the bit axis. The driven member may be provided by a drive bit on a portable router secured to the table top. Operation of the portable router results in rotation of the driven member. Rotation of the driven member and associated drive coupling operates the drive train and results in rotation of the bit mount and associated router bit.

Abstract: A variable depth router and base assembly can include a ring-type, depth-adjustment mechanism. The base assembly can be a two-piece base wherein one piece is disposed inside the other. One of the pieces can include an annular lip or recess that can cooperate with levers on the adjustment ring to secure the router to the base assembly. The two-piece base assembly can facilitate the manufacture of the base assembly, can allow the use of different materials for different portions of the base assembly, and can provide a more economical base assembly. The use of differing materials can facilitate the using of more wear-resistant materials where needed while avoiding the costs of such materials in locations where it is not needed. The two-piece base assembly may allow various features to be economically incorporated into one of the pieces, thereby facilitating the manufacturing and assembly of the base assembly.

Abstract: An adjustable scale typically used with a router table may be reset at any time to facilitate determining the change in height of the router regardless of where the scale is positioned when the router is at a given height. When used with a router table having a table plate with a height adjustment screw for adjusting the height of the router, the scale includes a marker carried by the table plate or the adjustment screw. When carried by the adjustment screw, the marker is rotatable relative to the adjustment screw to align markings thereon with a reference mark on the table plate to reset the scale. Thus, a zero marking may be aligned with the reference mark at any height of the router, and the adjustment screw and marker may then be rotated together to adjust the height of the router and simultaneously measure the height change.
