Abstract: Combined phosphatization acid solution suitable for producing on a metallic substrate a concomitent deposit of at least two metallic ions, of which at least one is generally selected from the group comprising zinc, manganese and iron, said solution being characterized by the fact that it containsa polyphosphate having the formula (XPO.sub.3).sub.n wherein n.gtoreq.3 and X represents an alkaline, alkaline-earth metal or ammonium, anda chelating agent.

Abstract: A procedure for the application of PTFE-based, self-lubricating coating on a steel bearing element whose chrome and nickel contents are less than 5%, is disclosed. The procedure is characterized by a working process whereby the element undergoes a preparatory treatment during which crystal nuclei form, followed by phosphatization treatment which forms a microcrystalline layer composed of an iron and manganese compound, then by the application of PTFE on the surface and between the crystals.
Abstract: An aqueous solution of a reducing agent is applied to a chromate coated metal surface to reduce the extent to which the chromate coating undergoes dissolution during a subsequent cleaning process.
Abstract: A vegetable tannin is condensed with formaldehyde and an amine to provide an acid soluble product which is useful in a metal treatment solution to enhance corrosion resistance and paint adhesion characteristics of a metal surface.
Abstract: An aqueous surface treatment composition for forming a hydrophilic coating comprising: (a) alkali metal silicate, (b) aminoalcohol, and (c) a water-soluble resin selected from the group consisting of a water-soluble nylon, a natural polysaccharide and a water-soluble, natural protein, and/or a water-soluble silane coupling agent. This aqueous surface treatment composition is used to form a hydrophilic coating on an aluminum surface having a corrosion-resistant coating layer. The hydrophilic coating prepared from this compositon has good hydrophilic nature and corrosion resistance with substantially no unacceptable odor.
Abstract: Substrates such as steel or galavanized steel are treated with aminophosphonic acid compounds so as to permit better adhesion of aromatic polyether based coating formulations such as phenoxy resins.
