  • Patent number: 6776865
Abstract: The invention is to perform operations from sealing of a honeycomb core with a thermosetting sealing material having an adhesive property to its hardening in one step, prevent a resin from flowing into cells of the honeycomb core during resin impregnating operation, and thereby mold low-cost honeycomb sandwich components by using RTM technique which is adopted in molding solid materials, for instance. Dry fabric sheets are stacked on both sides of a honeycomb core with thermosetting sealing members having an adhesive property placed in between, and the sealing members and the dry fabric sheets are heated at the curing temperature of the sealing members to cause initial hardening of the sealing members and to dry the dry fabric sheets. Then, the dry fabric sheets are impregnated with a thermosetting resin and the resin impregnated into the dry fabric sheets is hardened by hot-pressing an entire assembly thus prepared under specific conditions.

Abstract: The invention relates to a glass fibre-reinforced plastic-plate which is provided with an anti-slip coating, consisting of resin and sand, as well as a production process of such a plate. The process according to the invention is a continuous one and does not require manual production steps. Initially, for the production a resin is bonded (10) with glass-fibre mats to a glass fibre-reinforced laminate as base material (20) and heated. As is conventional, the plate (20) is covered on both sides with carrier films (11, 12). In the subsequent phase of cooling-down (13) the point in time is waited for in which the plate (20) is in actual fact partly gelatinized, but the surface which is supposed to be coated is not yet completely cured. In this stage the upper carrier film (11) is pulled-off and a premixed coating compound consisting of resin and sand is applied (18) from above onto the base material (20). Alternative to the application of a premixed coating material, the resin and sand can be applied separately.

  • Patent number: 6527904
Abstract: The method of producing a two-disc laminated optical video disc, includes first forming, on a first substrate, a first reflecting film capable of partially reflecting and partially transmitting a laser beam. Next on a second substrate, a second reflecting film is formed having a reflectance higher than that of the first reflecting film. A liquid ultraviolet-setting resin is applied to the first reflecting film and/or the second reflecting film. The above treated first substrate and the second substrate are bonded together, with a light-transmissible middle layer interposed therebetween. The liquid ultraviolet-setting resin is solidified by means of an ultraviolet light directed from below the first substrate.

Abstract: In a film with metal foil of the present invention, a metal foil is stuck to the surface of a resin film via an adhesive layer. The adhesive is formed by crosslinking an acrylic polymer obtained by the copolymerization of a (meth)acrylic acid ester with a carboxyl group-containing radically polymerizable monomer, with a polyfunctional compound having a functional group reactive with the carboxyl group. The film with metal foil is very useful for producing a multi-layer wiring board by the so-called transfer method. By using this film, there can be produced a multi-layer wiring board having a fine and highly dense wiring/circuit layer and having a very excellently flat surface.

  • Patent number: 6517658
Abstract: A method for fabricating a fiber-resin composite body for providing electromagnetic shielding. The body has a resin-impregnated fiber fabric and an electrically conductive fiber fabric, wholly or partially impregnated with resin material, one surface of the conductive fiber fabric having an uninsulated area wholly or partly covered with an electrical contact strip made of a wire mesh, which provides an electrical connection with the electrically conductive fiber fabric. The method includes placing the electrically conductive fiber fabric and the resin-impregnated fiber fabric in a mold, placing the wire mesh of the contact strip directly on the electrically conductive fiber fabric, covering the wire mesh of the contact strip with a sealing tape, and filling up the wire mesh of the contact strip completely with uncured resin material from the resin-impregnated fiber fabric so that only a front side thereof forms a contact surface free of resin.

Abstract: An apparatus for producing a hybrid boron reinforced polymer matrix composite from precursor tape and a linear array of boron fibers. The boron fibers are applied onto the precursor tapes and the precursor tape processed within a processing component having an impregnation bar assembly. After passing through variable-dimension forming nip-rollers, the precursor tape with the boron fibers becomes a hybrid boron reinforced polymer matrix composite. A driving mechanism is used to pulled the precursor tape through the method and a take-up spool is used to collect the formed hybrid boron reinforced polymer matrix composite.

Abstract: The present invention is to provide a base material for a laminate having a high strength, reduced thickness, and light weight. In the present invention, a base material is prepared by incorporating a thermosetting resin binder into a non-woven fabric of para-aramid fibers prepared by a wet type paper making, and then heating a plurality of the resultant non-woven fabric sheets under pressure. The non-woven fabric sheet comprises 95 to 70 mass % of the para-aramid fibers and 5 to 30 mass % of the thermosetting resin binder.

Abstract: A method for fabricating composite light-weighted glass ceramics, suitable for use as, e.g. mirror blanks or microlithography stages, at low temperatures is disclosed. Component pieces are polished then joined at low temperature using a silicate-containing joining liquid. Assembly is then performed in such a way that the joining liquid forms an interface between each component. After a period of low or slightly elevated temperature curing, rigid joints are formed throughout and the composite is dimensionally, vibrationally, and temperature stable and can withstand tensile stresses >4000 psi. The room-temperature cured composite can be heat treated using a slow, systematic temperature increase to dehydrate the joints. A sealing coating may optionally be provided to prevent excess dried joining liquid from flaking off the formed joint.
