Particle mats are formed on the screens on the upper stretch. A press along the upper stretch downstream of the mat-former compresses the mats into rigid panels. A screen changer includes a unit for removing a bad screen from the conveyor and a unit for feeding a fresh screen to the conveyor and thereby replacing the bad screen with the fresh screen. One of the units is generally entirely within the path, below the upper stretch and above the lower stretch.

Abstract: A non-rotating mining cutter pick has a shank portion with a non-circular cross-section, a head portion including a tip region distal from the shank portion, a shoulder portion separating the shank portion from the head portion, and a cutting insert mounted at a front end of the tip region. The cutting insert includes a body formed of tungsten carbide and an element formed of a superhard material, such as PCD or other material having a prescribed knoop hardness. At least a portion of a first surface of the element is exposed on a cutting surface of the cutting insert, which improves wear properties of the mining cutter pick. The element is fused to the body of the cutting insert, preferably in a high pressure-high temperature (HPHT) process. A method of manufacture and a cutting machine incorporating the non-rotating mining cutter pick on the rotatable element are also disclosed.

Abstract: A filter medium (100) having an inflow side (110) and an outflow side (120) defining a flow direction (190). The filter medium comprises at least n consecutive layers Lx of fiber media, x varying from 1 to n, n being more than or equal to 2. Ll (101) is the layer of the n consecutive layers closest to the inflow side of the filter medium and Ln (103) is the layer of the n consecutive layers closest to the -outflow side of the filter medium. For all layers Lx of the at least n consecutive layers, the ratio Hx/(kx*Ax) is substantially identical, wherein Hx is the average thickness of the layer Lx in flow direction, Ax is the average surface area of cross sections according to planes perpendicular to the flow direction, and kx is the permeability coefficient of this layer Lx. The fiber media of at least part of the layers of the filter medium comprises metal fibers.

Abstract: Process for manufacturing a composite block of closed geometry, in the form of a continuous ring, based on reinforcing fibres and on a cross-linkable resin, by continuously winding in superposition a predetermined number Nc of layers of a tape of the reinforcing fibres embedded in a matrix based on a composition comprising the cross-linkable resin, the method comprising, from the upstream end downstream, the steps of: producing a rectilinear arrangement (12) of reinforcing fibres (11), and conveying this arrangement in a feed direction (F); degassing the arrangement of fibres (12) under the action of a vacuum (13); after degassing, impregnating the arrangement of fibres (12) with the resin composition in the liquid state (17); passing the pre-preg thus obtained through a die (20) to impose on the per-preg the shape of a tape (21) consisting of the reinforcing fibres (11) in their liquid resin matrix (17), the thickness (Er) of the tape being between 0.1 mm and 0.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing metal-coated base laminates having a support (51) made of an electrically nonconductive material (37), which is coated on at least one side with a metal layer (25, 53). In a first step, a base layer (11) is applied onto a substrate (3) with a dispersion (5), which contains electrolessly and/or electrolytically coatable particles in a matrix material. The matrix material is at least partially cured and/or dried. A metal layer is subsequently formed on the base layer (11) by electroless and/or electrolytic coating. The support (51) made of the electrically nonconductive material (37) is laminated onto the metal layer (25). The support (51) laminated with the metal layer (25) and at least a part of the base layer (11) are subsequently removed from the substrate (3).

Abstract: This invention relates to a particle agglomeration process of wood and cork which uses an agglomerating system consisting of a pre-polymer of hydroxyl terminated polybutadiene (HTPB), a di-isocyanate and possibly a catalyst in order to obtain agglomerations of cork and/or wood particles with new characteristics and with new particle compositions. These products are used in the particle agglomeration industry in the wood sector (wood particles boards), specifically in the panels and veneers sub-sector and in the cork agglomeration industry sub-sector. This process enables the industrial reprocessing of residues and sub-products of sectors of wood and cork and at the same plays its part towards solving environmental problems by creating a viable and profitable alternative to storage and/or burning and/or depositing in the ground, in particular for what is referred to as cork powder and ‘terras’ and some wood residues, in particular fibre and polishing dust.
