Abstract: A belt containing steel cords, the steel cords containing strands made of steel filaments wherein the largest diameter filaments are at least intermittently positioned at the radially outer side of the steel cord. Such a configuration can be obtained by using steel cord constructions wherein the thickest filaments are positioned outside of the steel cord which is contrary to the current practice. In a further embodiment the largest diameter filaments fill up some or all of the valleys of the strands at their radially outer side. These monofilaments thus have the same lay length and direction as the strands in the steel cord. The advantage of putting the largest filaments at the outside is that they will break first and thus will be readily detectable by electrical, magnetic or visual means. In this way a belt is provided that can be monitored easier and more conveniently than prior art belts.

At least one of the load bearing members (32-38) has a load carrying capacity that is different than at least one other of the load bearing members (32-38). A disclosed example includes equal numbers of load bearing members (32, 38) having a first load carrying capacity and equal numbers of load bearing members (34, 36) having a second, different load carrying capacities. Another example includes at least three different load carrying capacities. With the disclosed examples, the aggregate load carrying capacity of an elevator load bearing assembly (30) can more closely meet the load carrying requirements for a given elevator system without over-roping the system.

  • Patent number: 9695012
Abstract: An elevator includes at least one elevator car and a counterweight which are at least partly suspended on hoisting ropes and a drive machine driving a traction sheave engaging the hoisting ropes for moving the elevator car along guide rails in an elevator shaft, which elevator further includes a compensation rope. The compensation rope is led upwards to an upper part of the elevator shaft and from there aside to a balancing area located aside of the travel paths of the car and counterweight. This solution is particularly adapted for high travel elevators facing horizontal forces during operation as e.g. ship elevators. Collision of compensation ropes are avoided in the area below the car and counterweight paths which could affect the elevator safety when subjected to high horizontal forces, e.g. during rough sea.

Abstract: An elevator system constructed in accordance to one embodiment of the present disclosure includes an elevator car, a counterweight, a sheave assembly, a suspension rope, a compensation rope, a first optical sensor assembly and a controller. The suspension rope has a first suspension end coupled to the elevator car and a second suspension end coupled to the counterweight. The first compensation rope has a first compensation end coupled to the elevator car and a second compensation end coupled to the counterweight. The first optical sensor assembly can have a first optical sensor pair including a first emitter and a first receiver. The first emitter is configured to emit a first beam to be received by the first receiver. The first optical sensor pair is configured to detect interruption of the first beam by the first compensation rope. The controller controls movement of the elevator car based on the detected interruption.

  • Patent number: 9631772
Abstract: A ready-to-stop elevation carrier platform includes an inner frame, an outer frame, and a support correction mechanism. The inner frame includes two cam plates and two primary support springs. The outer frame is arranged outside the inner frame and is vertically movable in a linear way. The outer frame and the support correction mechanism are rotatably coupled to each other and the support correction mechanism is arranged, in a rotatable manner, between the two cam plates of the inner frame. The support correction mechanism includes a four bar linkage that is rotatably coupled to the two cam plates of the inner frame. The support correction mechanism includes two secondary support springs. The outer frame is movable in unison with the support correction mechanism for ascending and descending. Due to the spring forces of the primary and secondary support springs, a display device mounted to the outer frame can be supported.

Abstract: An elevator renovation method, which is capable of reducing a renovation period and enabling effective use of a space when an existing hydraulic elevator is renovated to a non-hydraulic elevator. The elevator renovation method involves renovating a hydraulic elevator in which a plunger provided integrally with a car is hydraulically driven to a non-hydraulic elevator. The elevator renovation method includes; providing a driving device for generating a driving force for raising the car; leaving the plunger so that the plunger can be raised and lowered inside an existing jack; and obtaining the non-hydraulic elevator by exerting the driving force of the driving device in a direction in which the plunger is moved up to raise the car.
