Abstract: A trouser belt is provided having a strap, a buckle and a keeper. The strap has a first and a second end and includes two substantially nonelastic portions and a short elastic portion. The short elastic portion is located between the two nonelastic portions and provides a limited amount of lengthwise expansion to the strap. The buckle is attached to the first end of the strap to secure a portion of the strap adjacent to the second end of the strap. The keeper is mounted adjacent to the buckle to hold the second of the belt to the first end of the belt. Preferably, the keeper is secured to the strap adjacent to the buckle and the short elastic portion is located substantially beneath the keeper.

Abstract: A head support device for supporting the head of a person in an upright position against the back support of a chair. The head support device includes a flexible panel having a first side and a second side. The panel has a first edge, a second edge, a third edge, and a fourth edge wherein the first and second edges are positioned opposite of each other. The third and fourth edges extend outward in opposite directions at junctures with the first and second edges such that four flaps are defined. A fastening means removably fastens two flaps on the third edge together and the two flaps one the fourth edge together. A securing means removably secures the first side of the panel to the chair.

Abstract: Disclosed is an article and system useful as a body wearable and attachable personal information and valuables carrier adapted to be placed on a body member such as an arm or wrist or leg, for example, comprising a continuous loop of web material having attached thereto a protruding flap, the flap having fastening means thereon for releasably securing the carrier to a body member. The continuous loop of web material has a complimentary attachment means attached to the outside thereof for joining with the fastening means on the flap. A pocket is formed within the width of the web, the pocket having a securable flap to securely contain the contents of the pocket.

Abstract: This present invention relates to a novel belt-like extension corset providing for anterior to posterior traction from the sides to the back at waist level comprising two longitudinally expandable front and back belt members each having an inner and outer surface, means to attach said belt members at their longitudinal centers, means for attaching the longitudinal ends of the front belt member, two direction changing means for said back belt member located on the outer surface of the front belt member positioned so as to be present on the left and right side when worn, and means for attaching the longitudinal ends of the back belt member to the outer surface of the back belt member lateral to its middle portion. The corset can shorten a number of days of treatment, for example, a number of days required for treatment of muscular low back pain.

Abstract: An item of clothing the width of a component part of which can be adjusted by the user, the clothing item having a line or cord (1) at least partly encircling the relevant part, which cord can be pulled by the wearer to adjust the width or tightness of the part by means of gathering of the material of the part around the line or cord. For the part of the circumference of the relevant part the cord is concealed under the material but emerges at a desired point and them passes again to the inside of the item of clothing so as to form a cord pull section (6) on the inside of the clothing. The clothing item includes means (5) for holding the component part in its tightened or gathered condition about the cord, the cord pull section (6) being used by the wearer for adjustment of the width of the relevant part.

Abstract: A tandem riding vehicle safety device is disclosed. The safety device comprises an elongate tension bearing member having a width sufficient for providing a reasonable force per unit area upon a tandem riding vehicle operator when engaged therewith and supporting a passenger of the tandem riding vehicle including a first end and a second end for, in use, being pulled about a front of an operator from both sides to releasably secure a passenger to the operator; a first handle connected to the member and a second handle connected to the member the handles for grasping by the passenger and for use in pulling of the elongate tension bearing member for providing tension therein; and absent a fastener proximate opposing ends of the member for coupling the member to form a closed loop.

Abstract: A martial arts belt having a pre-tied knot which is secured with hook and loop fastening material. The martial arts belt includes a belt portion and a knot portion which are fixedly attached to one another. The belt portion has a length sufficient to encircle the waist of a wearer twice. The knot portion is a facsimile of the knot in a hand-tied belt which includes a centrally positioned knot and a first end portion and a second end portion depending freely from the knot. The knot portion is fixedly attached to the front surface of the belt portion proximate to the first end of the belt portion. The martial arts belt includes at least one securement to fasten the belt around the waist of a wearer. The securement can include mated portions of hook and loop fastening material. When worn, the belt of the present invention has the appearance of a martial arts belt which has been hand-tied in the traditional manner.

Abstract: A band having an eyelet and a housing for stays for use in clothing and orthopedic items is disclosed that includes a double band having lateral seams, a tension resistant lace positioned on one side of the double band, the tension resistant lace connected at a spacing to the double band at points, and at least one half-wave shaped segment formed of the tension resistant lace between the points.

Abstract: Dyed, colorless transparent, or semi-transparent yarns or dyed transparent or semi-transparent yarns are used in combination as composition yarns of a belt to be woven or knitted. Consequently, color of the dyed yarns can be seen through the transparent yarns at intersections of the both yarns, so that beautiful intersections are produced. Further, the belt having a specific color tone produced by mixing various colors may be obtained. If it is intended to change the color of the belt, the belt having a desired color can be produced easily only by changing part of the composition yarns.

Abstract: Promotional strips for martial arts belts comprised of a thin flexible vinyl sheet material of specifically designed properties and characteristics to easily and attractively mark a uniform belt. The strips are pre-cut and releaseably attached to a carrier sheet. Each strip is coated with a thin film of pressure sensitive adhesive on one side for securely attaching to a belt. A wide variety of colors as well as printable surface are available.

Abstract: An exercise harness connected to an unweighting system with shoulder straps. The exercise harness having a waist belt suspended by the shoulder straps which belt may be secured to a user. The exercise harness further having left and right legs or knee bands connected to the waist strap with a left front strap and a right front strap, respectively. A strap is provided forming a sliding “W” connection between the waist belt and the two leg bands to allow for freedom of leg movement when walking, running or jogging. The exercise harness is also provided with a gait modification strap having one end secured to the waist belt and the other end secured to one of the leg bands after wrapping the gait strap partially around a leg of the user.

Abstract: A belt to be worn around the waist that contains microfilmed or reduced pages of the Bible on the surface of the belt. The reduced pages can be either applied to the surface of the belt or the microfilmed pages can be fitted into laminated grooves so that the film can be seen from the outside of the belt. The pages of the Bible can be photographically reduced onto paper, microfilm, plastic or metal and then can be adhered to the belt surface. A bracelet can also be fitted with the same reduced pages. A thick magnifying glass is fitted into the buckle in order to read the reduced pages.

Abstract: A formable plastic polyolefin material being sold by the Trademark VOLARA® relates to the back support product of the invention. The formable material, with the fabric laminated preferably to both surfaces, is either cut to shape by standard clickers, heat cutting, or other means and then inserted into a die mold where it is formed by compression and heat. The compression and heat are primarily directed to forming channels for stays to be later inserted, and also to form the lateral edge tongues and pockets for securement of the inner wrap ends. The VOLARA® material is desirably laminated on both sides with the external laminate being a nylon, a mesh, sewable fabric. On the other hand, the inside laminate is a coated non-slip copolymer material.

Abstract: A novel form of belt is presented where the two ends of the belt can be attached directly to a wearer's clothing instead of the belt closing on itself like a conventional belt. Two fastening means such as commercially available vest-clips are attached to the two extremities of a flexible length of belting material. A buckle or other adjusting means may be provided for varying the length of the wrap belt. In use, the wearer first attaches one end of the belt to a selected position on her article of clothing; she then wraps the belt around her torso one or more times; finally, she fastens the other end of the belt to a second selected position on her clothing. She may adjust the length of the belt before, or during or after wearing the belt.

A pair of strips of leather are fixedly secured, e.g., adhesively bonded, onto the inner surface of said elongated strap and they extend parallel to and equidistantly spaced from each other on opposite sides of the fold line. Abstract: Disclosed is a traveler's head support sleeping and resting mechanism for a seated person. The seat and/or chair being used may include a headrest. The present invention includes a band comprising two separate sections, a seat harness and a head harness. When the two separate sections are in contact with each other's highly adhesive sides, a single band is formed. When the seat harness is wrapped around the top section of the seat and/or chair to overlap on itself, creates a strong anchoring seat harness section around such seat an/or chair. The head harness, the remaining length of band section, may be further wrapped around the seated person's forehead and the seat anchoring harness section itself. The two separate sections are strongly bonded on contact with each other and themselves so as to form a comfortable, complete head support harness.

Abstract: A support harness for a child to be used when learning activities such as skating, in-line skating, and bicycling. The support harness comprises a length adjustable chest strap having a releasable fastener, a left and right length adjustable shoulder strap, each of the shoulder straps being connected by slidable loops to the length adjustable chest strap at anterior and posterior chest strap regions; and a length adjustable handle strap with a grasping region. The handle strap is connected to the left and right shoulder straps at left and right posterior shoulder strap positions. The design and the materials used in its construction allows this support harness to be manufactured at minimal cost. It has been found that the points of support, near the shoulders and approximately aligned to the back of the neck region of the child allow the child to maintain an appropriate posture for skating and bicycling.

In situations where one is jogging, the pouch is slipped over the wrist with an arching strap inserted between the fingers of the hand. The pouch has many other uses, such as carrying pepper spray or pagers.

The lumbar support member has a first and a second D-ring attached to its outer surface, and the abdominal support pad and the abdominal support band have single D-rings attached to their outer surfaces. The straps are independently threaded through the abdominal support system's D-ring and then turned back and threaded through the D-rings of the lumbar support member. The support brace is selectively tightened by pulling on the ends of the straps and cinching the brace to the optimal tightness, while maintaining the desired compression about the wearer's mid-section.

By wearing the article of clothing a person is provided with a patterned suntan or sunburn. The patterned sunburn may also be entertaining to oneself when looking (her or his) in a mirror. Also, a sharp patterned sunburn, similar to a tattoo, can be formed on the wear's skin.

Secondary fasteners such as mateable strips of Velcro.RTM. material are provided on the opposing faces of the free end and face of the loop so that the free end can be secured to the loop. The elongate member may be a belt or waistband, a collar for an animal, or a hat band or sweatband of a cap or hat.

Abstract: An undergarment is disclosed having a front fabric panel and a back fabric panel fixed together to form an undergarment having a hollow tubular shape. The undergarment is open at a top end to define an open waist opening and open at a bottom end to define an open hip opening. The front fabric panel has a width longer than a width of the back fabric panel. An elastic waist band having a width of at least one and one-half inches is disposed around the circumference of the waist opening. The elastic waist band has an elasticity effective to constrain and shape the waistline of a wearer. A pair of elastic leg straps are disposed at the hip opening. Each elastic leg strap has a first end fixed to the front fabric panel and a second end fixed to the back fabric panel.

The second predetermined width of the second non-woven layer preferably is narrower than the first predetermined width of the first non-woven layer. The upper surface of at least a second portion of the first elongate layer preferably is folded to overlie and to be secured to the upper surface of the second elongate layer.

Abstract: An athletic sock garter and method of using a garter are provided which preferably include an elongate strap arranged for encircling a portion of a sock wearer's leg when an athletic sock is positioned thereon so that an inner surface of the elongate strap abuttingly contacts a leg portion of the sock. The elongate strap has at least a portion thereof formed of elastic material. An adjustable fastener is connected to the elongate strap for adjustably fastening the elongate strap about the leg portion of the sock when positioned on a wearer's leg. The adjustable fastener preferably includes a ring member connected to a first end of the elongate strap, a pile fastener material secured to a portion of the outer surface of said elongate strap, and a mating hook fastener material secured to a portion of the outer surface of the elongate strap extending from closely adjacent a second end thereof toward the first end of the elongate strap.

Abstract: An apparel belt includes a body encircling member for fastening around the torso of the wearer and decorative strips which are attachable to the outer side of the body encircling member. Each of the decorative strips includes a pair of socket elements which are engageable with stud elements located along the length of the body encircling member. The decorative strips are interchangeable and may include different letters or words thereon allowing the wearer to communicate a message. The decorative strips may be attached over belt loops on a garment such that the belt loops are not visible when the apparel belt is worn.

Abstract: A belt adjustment assembly is provided having a belt body and a removable buckle including a latch. The belt body comprises a tongue end having a plurality of openings, and a buckle end having two longitudinally spaced slots, and fastening snaps. By moving the buckle from the belt and inserting the latch of the buckle through one of the slots, the functional length of the belt can be substantially enlarged or reduced to a desired length within a matter of seconds, without the need to punch additional holes in the belt.

Abstract: A safety apparatus for various size passengers and tandem riders on unenclosed variable speed motorized and non-motorized vehicles which includes a dual belt configuration, a primary belt worn by the driver or front passenger which girds the waist and two (2) secondary belts attached to the primary belt, each having mounted thereon a handle, the position of which is adjustable around the waist in a manner to maintain the secondary belts in equidistant positions comfortably and effectively relative to the middle of the driver or front passenger's back.

Abstract: A device which improves the method for identifying athletes during sporting activities, particularly practices and physical education classes, comprised of a wide colored garment worn around the midsection of the participant. An elastic belt having cloth panels attached and hanging therefrom is pulled around the waist of the participant and fastened by means of hook and loop or other simple attachment. It provides freedom of motion when worn, while being easy to put on and remove. The highly visible surface area is nearly continuous and allows teachers, referees, participants, scorers, coaches, fans, and the like to differentiate between the various athletes.

The upper jacket or torso covering section has arm outlet and resembles a shortened version of a conventional jacket. The lower section has a belted portion or some other user fastening device and at least one storage liner pocket into which the folded upper section may be stowed and then worn like a belt. There may be storage pockets made of two flapped front pockets.

Abstract: A body harness for securing to and movement of a victim from harm's way, comprising an elongated belt for extending around the chest of a victim and under his armpits, having a quick lock-quick release buckle to rapidly buckle the ends of the belt together around the victim's chest and to rapidly unbuckle the ends for removal of the harness after the victim has been moved to a safe location so he can be quickly transported to a hospital for observation and treatment, and having an elongated hand grasp loop that is long enough to extend from its connection to the belt around the victim's chest in the direction toward the victim's head to a location beyond the victim's head where the rescuer can feel for, locate and grasp the hand grasp loop to drag the victim to safety. The hand grasp loop is attached to the belt at a diagonal so it extends diagonally in the direction toward the victim's head when the belt is secured around a victim lying on his back.

The belt comprises a longitudinally stretchable strip which is wrapped around the torso of the body and secured with a hook-and-loop fastener component. The hem of the upper garment can be tucked under the inner surface of the belt from the lower side of the belt to form a bloused hem.
