Abstract: An apparatus for shifting the body weight of a skier from a skier's legs to the skis for enhancing the skier's performance and minimizing leg strain comprises a spring assembly including a loop of elastic rod-shaped material stretchable during crouching movement of a skier's legs between a standing position and a fully crouched position of the skier. A housing defining an elongated channel for enclosing a portion of the loop supports the stretchable material and parallel rod-shaped branches terminating in a base bend. The base bend is secured within one end of the housing. The housing also includes a socket for receiving rigid poles therein and supporting the poles in vertical positions above the skis. The top ends of the poles have pulleys therein over which a cord is fed extending from a top bend of the loop of elastic material through grommets located in a skier's pants to straps disposed about the thigh or thighs of the skier's legs.

Abstract: An apparel belt has a first tapered end-portion that passes through a conventional buckle of the belt. The second end-portion of the belt, which mounts the buckle, is slightly larger in diameter than the first end-portion, which second end-portion defines an open entrance mouth and a hollow interior volume which telescopingly receives therein a section of the first end-portion, depending upon the length of the first end-portion extending through the buckle. The interior volume may also be used for storing valuables therein before inserting the first end-portion therein.

Abstract: A garter with a concealed compartment is disclosed comprising a band with an outer covering providing the appearance of clothing. The garter's appearance allows a user to safely carry and conceal money and other valuables in the concealed compartment eliminating vulnerability to loss and theft. The garter is especially adapted for use by a woman as an undergarment.

Abstract: A vehicle internal safety belt for holding one's head to the head-rest of a vehicle internal seat or for holding one's legs together, which is comprised of two identical belt bodies connected back to back at the middle. The middle part of each belt body is formed of an elastic band so that the safety belt is permitted to flexibly extend within a certain range. Each of the two belt bodies of the safety belt has a hook strip and a loop strip at two opposite ends so that one belt body can be fastened around the head-rest of a vehicle internal seat and the other belt body can be fastened around one's head to secure one's head to the internal seat. The two belt bodies can also be reversely fastened to secure one's two legs together to prevent the legs from opening apart while one is sleeping in a seat.

Abstract: A belt construction is set forth, including an elongate flexible belt member defined by a constant predetermined height, including hook and loop fasteners at opposed terminal free ends of the belt for securement of the belt rearwardly of a driver of a motorcycle. The belt includes a plurality of securement handles slidably mounted about the belt for grasping by a passenger of the motorcycle. Each handle includes a rectangular plate-like framework, with a medially positioned central support flange defining spaced openings, wherein one of the openings includes a locking flange mounted at an obtuse angle relative to a side leg plate of the support flange for locking securement of the handle member relative to the belt during use.

Abstract: A semi-flexible back support belt with selective rigidity control. The belt is formed primarily of a multiple-ply webbing of woven polymeric material. The plies in this webbing are joined together by longitudinally extending binder yarns in a weave pattern which ties together the plies of the webbing in such a manner as to provide a hinging action within the webbing during the application of a longitudinally applied tensile loading on the webbing as provided by the tightening of the belt about the waist of the user which effectively increases the rigidity of the belt. The loosening of a previously tightened belt will decrease the rigidity of the belt. By selectively varying the user applied tensile loading on the webbing, the belt is provided with a wide range of rigidity levels.

Abstract: A finished belt simulating a leather belt has in combination a finished belt strap and a finished buckle. The finished belt strap includes an unfinished molded plastic strap having a thin plastic front layer of light color and a continuous relatively thick plastic back layer of relatively dark color, and a film of finish disposed on the exposed surface of the strap front layer. The finished belt buckle includes an unfinished coextruded molded plastic buckle having a thick flexible plastic front layer of light color and a relatively thin rigid plastic back layer of relatively dark color, and a fiom of finish disposed on the exposed surface of the buckle front layer. The finished belt has in combination the finished belt strap and the finished belt buckle with the light colors being the same, the dark colors being the same, and the finish colors being the same.

Each arm has a varying width which is greater at a center portion and is narrower at the ends of the respective arm. The brackets are joined by inserting the arm of the bracket through the V slot in the similar bracket and turning the bracket to engage the arms of the bracket in the slot in the similar bracket.

Abstract: A support band is disclosed having elastic portions and hook and loop fastener portions for encircling a portion of a wearer's body. One hook segment is positioned adjacent to the terminating end of the band and another hook segment is positioned intermediate between the starting and terminating ends of the band. One portion of the loops is positioned adjacent the starting end of the band and another portion of the loops is positioned intermediate between the starting and terminating ends of the band. The band forms a tubular support device encircling the body portion wherein the intermediate hook segment engages the starting end portion of the loops after the initial wrap of the band to form an anchor point, and the terminating end hook segment engages an intermediate portion of the loops upon final wrapping of the band, said wrappings being made with the band under tension.

Abstract: A belt assembly for sizingly adjusting the fit of a garment in the crotch region thereof. The belt assembly comprises first and second buckle closure members with an elongate belt secured thereto and forming first and second loop portions therebetween. The belt is applied to the body of a wearer with the first loop portion encircling the wearer's waist, and the second loop portion encircling the lower posterior abdomen of the wearer below the first loop portion, with the second loop portion reentrantly passing forwardly between the legs of the wearer and forwardly upwardly to a frontal proximal extremity which is fixedly secured in proximity to the matably locked buckle closure members. The belt assembly of the invention is particularly useful to sizingly adjust oversized protective garments, e.g., of the disposable type, to conformably fit the wearer.

Abstract: A suspension harness/body jacket arrangement adapted for medical applications is disclosed. The harness arrangement suspends all or part of the body weight of a patient with respect to a wheelchair's fixed seat, a bed or the floor. The body jacket is seatless, and fabricated from a mesh or fish net material which elongates and grips the patient more snugly depending upon the tension applied thereto by suspension springs. In the case of incapacitated patients confined to the wheelchair, the arrangement may be used to substantially reduce the pressure applied to the patient's buttocks, thus preventing the development of pressure sores.

Abstract: An article of clothing adapted to receive at least a portion of a wearer's body, having a rear end forming an access passage for the wearer's hand and at least one elastic member so disposed as to bias the access passage towards a substantially open position. The article of clothing, which may be in the form of a glove or mitten, may also include an opening extending substantially longitudinally forward from the rear end. A closure device, such as a zipper, may be adjacent the opening and may be selectively operated to urge the opening, and thus the access passage, towards a substantially closed position, sealing the article of clothing against the wearer's wrist or forearm.

Abstract: A belt for joggers, cyclists and other recreationists, having a forwardly shining light to reveal hazards along the path, along with an insulating, sweat producing liner on the body side of the belt, for maximum sweat production for local loss of fatty tissue. The belt also may be worn, at the option of the wearer, in a folded condition without contact of the body with the insulating material, then no longer serving as a sweat generating device.

Abstract: This invention relates to a unique safety harness particularly designed for use with all-terrain type vehicles so as to prevent possible injury to the operator of the vehicle. The safety harness includes a belly strap secured to the vehicle body with a pair of leg restraints removably attached to the belly strap and to each leg of the operator, wherein the leg restraints prevent the legs of the operator from extending downwardly from the vehicle and dangerously contacting the road or ground surface.

Abstract: A utility belt formed from an elongated strip of plastic material having a predetermined length, width and thickness. The plastic material of the elongated strip has inherent torsion resistance to thereby prevent the belt from being twisted more than 90 degrees. The longitudinal flexibility of the elongated strip is such that it can be drawn around a person's waist to form a closed loop belt. Trim molding is attached to the peripheral edges of the elongated strip and it provides stiffening resistance to torsional twisting forces. The inner surface of the belt has hollow tubing attached to one side of the trim molding and it forms a resilient flange around the periphery of the inner surface of the belt. A layer of open cell foam having an egg carton contour on its outer surface is detachably received against the inner surface of the elongated strip between the resilient flanges formed by the hollow tubing.

Abstract: A hip belt comprises a number of substantially similar pieces successively connected by snap fasteners. Each individual piece possesses a pliant construction of substantially uniform thickness and has a perimeter edge. The side edge portions of the perimeter edge of each piece impart a taper to the piece. The snap fasteners are located in the end edge portions of the pieces and enable each piece to swivel with respect to its immediately adjacent pieces. When worn, the belt assumes a configuration in which side portions are supported by the wearer's hips. Front and back portions extend from the side portions across the wearer's abdomen and lower back respectively, and they may have slight downward curvatures. In a belt for a typical wearer, there may be from eleven to fifteen of the individual pieces. Various forms of indicia and/or decoration may be imparted to the individual pieces.

Abstract: A belt package for a surgical gown is disclosed in which a belt is fan-folded within a tubular belt support and one belt end is folded over and temporarily attached to the front of the belt support. The folded over belt end includes a line of weakness situated a short distance from the tip of the belt end to form a detachable portion useful in insuring sterility. The belt end is folded over by first folding the detachable portion against the rest of the belt end at a point on the belt near the weakened line but between the line and the point of exit of belt from the belt support. The detachable portion is then folded against the belt support face by a fold in the belt near the point of exit from the belt support. The end is temporarily attached to the belt support at point between the line of weakness and the first fold.
