Abstract: A container usable for lyophilization, storage, and reconstitution of medication having only two parts, one of which is a plug component having a flow path terminating in a side outlet port and a second of which is a barrel component. The barrel component has a spiral mixing channel near its distal end in which powder medication is stored and upon reconstitution, yields a gradient concentration. The inner wall of the barrel includes a longitudinal diluent groove. To connect the plug outlet port with the longitudinal diluent groove, the plug or barrel has a 360° distribution groove encircling the plug and connecting to the plug outlet port. Regardless of what rotational orientation the plug has to the barrel, the diluent will always reach the mixing channel.

Abstract: A supplement dispensing closure couplable to an outlet of a container, such as a water container. When the closure is coupled to the container, liquid exiting the container through the outlet flows through a supplement retention area that retains a dissolvable supplement body inside the closure as the liquid flows therethrough and dissolves the dissolvable supplement body. A user may select one or more dissolvable supplement bodies and insert them inside the supplement retention area for dissolution in the liquid as it flows through the supplement retention area. The closure may include a selectively openable and closable cap portion. Optionally, the closure includes a filter configured to filter one or more components from the liquid before or after it flows through the supplement retention area.

  • Publication number: 20120152770
Abstract: A closure assembly has a closure cap (2) adapted to be fitted to the neck of container to close the container. The cap (2) has an upper wall (4) and a cylindrical skirt (5) depending therefrom. A reservoir (7) is formed on the underside of the upper wall (4) radially within the skirt (5) and has a dispensing opening (9). A closing member (3) is fitted into the closure cap (2) to close the dispensing opening in the reservoir. When the closure cap (2) is removed from the container, the closing member (3) remains held within the neck of the container and is separated from the closure cap so that the dispensing opening is opened and material contained therein is dispensed into the container. The closure cap is provided with sealing means for directly sealing against the neck of a container such as an annular wall (12) extending downwardly from the underside of 43 the upper wall of the closure cap (2) to fit sealingly into the neck of the container.

  • Patent number: 8177059
Abstract: The present invention concerns a closure for a container (1). The closure contains an additive to be added to the content of the container (1) at the first opening of the container (1). The closure comprises a cap (2), an insert (4) and a lid (11) covering a compartment (15) receiving the additive. The compartment (15) is defined by a doomed or conical center part (5) of the insert (4), an inner wall (14) of the cap (2) and the lid (11). The additive is added to the content of the container (1) in that the inner wall (14) of the cap (2) leaves a sealing contact with the center part (5) of the insert (4) when the cap (2) is unscrewed, giving access to openings (10) of the insert (4).

  • Patent number: 8141730
Abstract: A closure for a multiple component container includes an insert (12), a piston (20) and a cap (10). The insert (12) and the piston (20) define a reservoir and the insert (12) comprises a fixed cylindrical wall (26) and a movable wall (32) connected thereto and movable with respect thereto by the action of gas pressure within the reservoir. The movable wall (32) has a discharge aperture (36) formed therein. The cap (10) comprises a closure plate (14), integral with whose outer edge is a depending skirt (16), by means of which the cap may be secured to a container. The closure plate (14) cooperates with the piston (20) such that movement of the closure plate towards the insert (12) results in movement of the piston also in the same direction. The piston (20) forms a sliding seal with the internal surface of the fixed cylindrical wall (26). A valve member (22) is integral with, the piston (20) and is slidably received in and seals the discharge aperture (36).
