Abstract: A molded plastic container assembly comprising an open top container and a closure which sealingly fits on the top of the container. A collar is integral with the container sidewall just below the top rim to provide a space into which the lower edge of the closure skirt extends to prevent removal closure until a tear strip formed in the collar is removed. The tear strip in the collar extends fully through one corner of the container assembly and at least half way toward both of the adjacent corners to provide substantial area of access to the closure lower edge as well make the tear strip to large to present a choking hazard to small children.

Abstract: The invention relates to a capsule closure, the cap of which comprises a receptacle (2) that is formed on the interior of the lid and that fits into the interior of a corresponding nipple part (3). An associated film-sealed container capsule (8) can be locked into the interior of the receptacle (2), with the film facing downwards (9), so that the sealing film (9) lies against the inner diameter of the cap (1). A circular shoulder that projects inwards (10) is configured in the interior of the nipple part (3) below the inserted container capsule (8). Several fixed and/or displaceable piercing and/or cutting elements (12) are formed on the inner edge (11) of said shoulder (10). A tamper-evident strip (15) is supported on a shoulder (17) that projects radially outwards below the lower cap edge of the attached cap (1). Once said strip has been removed, the cap (1) can be pushed down onto the nipple part (3), causing the piercing and/or cutting elements (12) to cut open the film (9).

Abstract: The invention relates to a foolproofing device (12) equipped with pins (14-1 and 14-2) placed around the neck of a container (10), the container containing a product for pharmaceutical, medical or other use intended to be used by an extraction system (30) screwed onto a threaded support which may be the neck of the container itself or a sleeve (16) placed on the neck of the container, the screwing operation and thus the use of the product by the extraction system being possible only if the notches (34-1 and 34-2) of the extraction system coincide with the pins of the foolproofing device. According to a main characteristic of the invention, the foolproofing device (12) is characterized in that it is integral with the threaded support (16) of the container by means of connecting parts (18) between the foolproofing device and the threaded support, the connecting parts being broken when the extraction system coinciding with the foolproofing device is screwed onto the threaded support of the container.

  • Patent number: 6536616
Abstract: The neck of a container has a smooth seal surface engaged by the inner skirt or plug of a cap. Such surface is free of trim and parting line flaws which are characteristic of blow-molded jars because the surface is formed in such a way that the seal surface is not in contact with mold parting lines and further the trim (excess plastic) of the neck is located away from the sealing surface. In one form of the disclosure, above the sealing surface the neck wall slants outward and then bends upward-inward in a short, tapered stretch about 18 degree to the horizontal which engages the underside of the cap disk to compress against the disk or a liner or foil. Other forms of seal surfaces are disclosed In another form of the invention, above the seal surface the neck extends outward and then upward and then inward in a flange which is trimmed along a line which has a circumference no less than the circumference of the seal surface.

  • Patent number: 6530493
Abstract: A single piece injection molded flip top cap for a beverage (or any other non-beverage) container is comprised of a base portion and a lid portion. The base portion forms a substantially large opening to allow for liquids to freely flow through the cap. When the lid is in the closed position, the contents of the container are sealed within the container. By pressing up on a thumb lever, the lid is flipped to an open position allowing the contents to be poured from the container without removing the cap from the container.

  • Patent number: 6523710
Abstract: An improved tamper resistant bottle cap and neck for bottles which hold liquid. The bottle cap of the present invention includes a circular cover, a skirt depending from the periphery of the cover, and a tamper evidencing lower portion. A raised ring formed on the outer and upper surface of the bumper roll typically used in blow-molded containers protects the lower edge of the cap from tampering by making the lower edge of the ratchet ring in the case of a thread-on cap (or the lower edge of the removable portion of a skirt in the case of a push-on cap) less accessible to potential tamperers. Thread-on caps with helical threads and a ratchet ring, or push-on caps with skirts having removable lower portions, may each be equipped with an arched or curved pull tab. The pull tab in each instance is designed to accommodate a raised ring on the bumper roll of the neck of a blow-molded bottle.

  • Publication number: 20030034347
Abstract: A tamper-resistant closure includes a cap provided with several cap retainers adapted to engage an annular ridge surrounding a discharge valve mounted on a can and a removable tamper band coupled to a lower edge of the cap to define an undulated frangible tear line between the cap and the tamper band. Several band retainers are provided on the tamper band and adapted to engage the annular ridge. The band retainers cooperate with the cap retainers to help retain the closure on the can while the tamper band remains coupled to the cap. Once the tamper band is removed, the cap retainers engage the annular ridge on the can and cooperate to retain the remaining cap on the can.

Abstract: A bottle cap (10) having a top panel (12) and a downwardly depending skirt (14). Skirt (14) includes an angled upper portion (20) and a generally cylindrical lower portion (22) with an exterior bead (24) thereon. Angled upper skirt portion (20) extends from a perimeter bead (23) down to a locking bead (34), which allows upper skirt (20) to transfer an application force from perimeter bead (23) radially to locking bead (34) in order to push the locking bead down around the upper crown (42) of a bottle neck (40).

  • Publication number: 20020190021
Abstract: A tamper-evident, snap-on, screw-off closure is used with a specially shaped container neck. One neck has double lead external threads and, below the threads, a conical wall having external ratchet teeth. The closure has an upper skirt having internal threads mating with the neck threads. A conical lower skirt is connected to the upper skirt by a plurality of frangible bridges. The lower skirt has internal ratchet teeth to mate with the neck ratchet teeth. The cap skirt threads are double pitch and slightly over 360° in length. When the cap is applied to the neck it snaps on in two stages. The lower skirt has a tear tab which, when pulled, fractures the lower skirt on a vertical line. Continued pulling on the tab sequentially fractures the bridges. Another neck has a neck stretch with multiple neck threads and a locking wall below the neck stretch with a plurality of external teeth.

  • Patent number: 6488165
Abstract: The closure of the present invention provides a seal a variety of neck configurations, including substantially new and different neck profiles. The top of the cap, which may or may not include a valve, has side wall depending from the top of the cap and a skirt extending further downwardly from the side wall. The inside surface of the cap has an elongated sealing flange extending downwardly and outwardly from the underside of the top of the cap. The lower tip of the sealing flange is preferably disposed outside, in the radial direction, of the inside diameter of the latch bead formed at the base of the side wall of the cap. The length of the sealing flange, its position on the underside of the cap and the length-to-basewidth ratio of the flange keep it from becoming misaligned or twisted. The inside surface of the wedge-shaped sealing flange is preferably disposed at an obtuse angle from the plane of the top of the cap.
