Abstract: An expandable, externally-threaded collar member which is adapted to cooperate with an internally-threaded cap member to form a closure for a container. Advantageously, the expandable, externally-threaded collar member can be applied to the top, neck portion of the container by merely sliding said collar member over the rim of the container. Once in place, the container can then be sealed by applying the internally-threaded cap member to the externally-threaded collar member.

Abstract: A cap for receptacles provided with an inside stopper, wherein the inside of the side-wall of the cap is threaded so as to fit on the threaded side-wall of the opening of the receptacle and the inside stopper is provided with a side-wall whose outside diameter is equal to or slightly greater than the inside diameter of the opening of the receptacle and is provided with a flange on the upper end of said side-wall and having an outside diameter smaller than the inside diameter of the cap. The inside stopper is securely attached to the cap so as to be free from slipping out therefrom.

Abstract: A digestion bomb assembly for chemical treatment of organic and inorganic substances comprising an inert container including a cylindrically shaped threaded container portion and an inert cap or closure including a cylindrically shaped threaded cap portion dimensioned and configured for cooperative screwing engagement with the threaded container portion. The container further includes a rim portion and the cap further includes a sealing portion defining a surface correspondingly disposed for sealing engagement with the rim portion when the cap is screwed substantially fully onto the container. A collar is disposed in substantially surrounding relationship to the cap and container to provide structural support thereto.

Abstract: A generally cylindrical container is symmetrical both axially and radially and has an opening at opposite longitudinal ends for dispensing its contents. The interior of the container is tapered at either end into pouring spouts, while the exterior is tapered slightly inwardly toward the middle of the container for easier grasping and has broad end sections for stable standing and stacking on end. Increased wall thickness at either end weights the container to increase stability in an upright position. End caps screw onto the container over the end openings thereof, sealing against leakage.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a container which has a removable screw cap. Said screw cap comprises an outer sleeve, a portion of which is provided with an internal screw-thread arranged to cooperate with an external screw-thread on the container, an inner cylindrical spigot or plug secured at one end within the sleeve by a bridge portion and arranged to fit inside the container, a plurality of flanges or rings on the spigot or plug, the said flanges or rings being arranged to make an interference fit with the inside of the container and a closure diaphragm closing the spigot or plug. The instant container is useful in diagnostic work, for example, to contain blood samples.

Abstract: A twist closure or screw-type cap is disclosed. The closure which has internal threading is for fitting onto a container having external threading. In one embodiment the uppermost thread turn of the internal threading of the cap terminates a distance spaced from the crown plate of the cap. In a further embodiment the cap is provided with a stopper which projects into and seals the opening of a container when the closure is positioned on the container, and characterized in that at least one beadlike enlargement is provided on the threading of the cap and/or container in the region of the beginning of thread commencement.

Abstract: Cap liner construction in the form of a sandwich and so arranged that a compressible intermediate layer of relatively great thickness is disposed between two relatively thin non-resilient layers. The cap liner is sealed to the cap. The intermediate layer can be squeezed beyond the periphery of the material for making a better seal. Another embodiment discloses a two layer liner bonded to the cap.

Abstract: A sealing closure assembly for a container mouth including a closure cap and a sealing member having a sealing portion which sealingly engages with a releasable locking fit with the mouth of said container and a cap engaging portion slidably engageable by an axially outwardly facing shoulder of the closure cap. The sealing portion of said sealing member remains in place in sealing relation to the closure mouth for a portion of the rotation of said closure cap means when the same is rotated in a direction to unthread the same from the external screw thread means of the container and is forced from sealing and locking engagement with the container mouth by the shoulder of the closure cap solely by the force created by the further unthreading of the closure cap means from said external screw thread means of the closure cap means.

Abstract: A bottle cap made of Teflon and the like has a relatively thin end closure portion for engagement with a bottle end and an annular back-up flange is spaced axially of a peripheral marginal portion of the closure portion, and a resilient insert is disposed back-up the backflange and the marginal portion of the closure portion, whereby the closure portion is resiliently yieldable to effect a tight seal even with irregularly shaped bottle ends.
