Abstract: A container for pourable food comprises an initially sealed body portion for holding the pourable food and a drink spout for drinking from the container. The proximal end of a base portion of the drink spout is permanently attached to the outer surface of the container, and has an opening to receive pourable food from the body of the container. The distal end of the base portion has an opening for drinking the pourable food from the container. The drink spout comprises a lid portion initially attached to the base portion to seal the opening at the distal end by a breakable sealing portion. The drink spout comprises a connection portion permanently attaching the lid portion to the base portion. The connection portion is a flexure hinge allowing the lid portion to pivot away from the base portion after the breakable sealing portion has been broken.

Abstract: A re-closeable cap is outfitted upon an upper portion of a beverage can or a series of beverage cans in a multi-pack arrangement for providing a protective barrier atop opened beverage cans. The re-closeable caps include a unibody material construction particularly configured to comprise a cap rim and a cap plate centrally located relative to the cap rim. The cap rim attaches the re-closeable cap to a can rim. The cap plate includes a static portion and at least one dynamic portion all formed from the unibody material construction with complex upper surface landscape and cut lines. The dynamic portions are pivotal relative to the static structure for providing a can-opening access aperture for enabling a user to consume can contents and closing the can-opening access aperture for enabling the user to cover the can opening during contents consumption.

Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to systems and methods for producing a metal-containing powder useful for additive manufacturing. The metal-containing powder includes a plurality of metal-containing platelets having a defined physical geometry and a defined aspect ratio. The metal platelets may be produced by depositing a metal layer on a substrate that includes one or more recessed or raised surface features. The one or more recessed or raised surface features create a fracture pattern in a metal layer deposited across at least a portion of the one or more surface features. By separating the metal layer from the substrate and fracturing the metal layer along the fracture pattern, a plurality of metal platelets are produced. In some embodiments, a release agent may be disposed between the metal layer and the substrate to facilitate the separation of the metal layer from the substrate.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a container end closure that generally comprises a pour opening and a secondary vent opening which improves venting during emptying of contents from the container. In particular, the present invention relates to an end closure for a container having scores defining a secondary vent opening which may optionally be opened. The secondary vent opening has a significantly larger area then vents of prior art designs and thereby improves pour rate and smoothness of pour. After the pour opening is opened using a pull tab interconnected to the end closure, a consumer may selectively open the secondary vent opening by pulling back on the tab.

Abstract: A multiple-opening container is configured to facilitate the simultaneous opening of two or more material containing compartments, thus allowing for the material contents within the multiple containing compartments to be suitably mixed upon pouring into another container. As a result of the simultaneous opening and pouring ability facilitated by the multiple-opening container, the time for mixing of multiple materials, such as beverages, fluids, powders or other like contents, can be suitably reduced. In addition, the de-carbonization and/or deterioration or other side affects caused from pre-mixing of the contents can be eliminated. In accordance with another exemplary embodiment, engagement portion can comprise a snap clip and a ring portion configured for sealed coupling to a material containing compartment. Second compartment can be suitably filled within beverages or other materials, and then positioned within the container portion and sealed or otherwise coupled by the engagement portion.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing a stopper for closing a neck of a container comprises a first step of molding the stopper in one piece. The stopper includes a sealing membrane provided with a central opening, a tubular stem centered on an axis and extending from the sealing membrane around the central opening, and a capsule connected, by a tear wall, to a free end of the stem. The capsule is configured to be wedged in the stem to seal the neck of the container. The method comprises a second step in which, while the tear wall is intact, a force, in line with the axis, is applied to the stopper so as to break the tear wall and move the capsule inside the stem until the capsule is wedged in the stem.

A punch hole of the canister top which is either opened or created by a punch protrusion of the opening tab equalize the inside and outside pressure of the beverage canister in such way that the equalization of the pressure increases the beverage flow rate of the beverage canister.

Single or multiple frangible layers 415, 416 may be disposed across the access port. Single frangible layers 415, 416 are configured to prevent venting upon initially being pierced by a transfer device 43 but to allow venting as the transfer device 43 is advanced through the frangible layer 415, 416.

The end closure contains a raised bead portion for guiding and directing the opening or lifting motion of a tab portion attached to the end closure. More efficient opening features are enabled by the guided action of the tab and raised bead features.

Abstract: The embodiments disclosed describe a double opening beverage can lid system. The system includes a can lid having a pour panel associated with a pour opening and a vent panel associated with a vent opening. A tab is attached to the can lid. The tab includes a primary tab portion configured to open the pour opening, and a secondary tab portion configured to open the vent opening. A rivet hole facilitates attachment of the primary tab portion and the secondary tab portion to the can lid. A shelf is bent about 180° around a rear edge of the primary tab portion. The shelf blocks at least a portion of the secondary tab portion from contacting the vent panel.

Abstract: An end closure for food and beverage containers is provided. The end closure comprises a central panel portion having an induced buckle coin and an interrupted panel coin positioned proximate to an inner panel wall to control the buckling location on the end closure. Thus, the end closure will buckle at a predetermined location away from the score and tear panel to avoid catastrophic failure and container leakage.

The tab includes a body having a first end and a second end disposed opposite and distal from the first end, a nose portion located at or about the first end of the tab, a lift portion located at or about the second end of the tab, and a rivet receiving portion disposed proximate the nose portion. The rivet receiving portion includes a rivet hole. A rivet extends through the rivet hole and is staked to fasten the rivet receiving portion of the tab to a can end. The body of the tab is structured to be rotated about the rivet to align a portion of the tab with a secondary scoreline in the can end. A portion of the tab is structured to be depressed to sever the secondary scoreline to vent the can end.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing an easy open end includes the steps of using a laminated steel sheet with resin films formed on both surfaces of the laminated steel sheet, and forming a panel structure and a score. A score die used for forming the score includes a scoring edge having a cross section in which a tip is a curve and two sides with the tip interposed therebetween are tangent to the curve. The tip is the curve having a curvature radius ranging from 0.2 to 0.4 mm, and the two sides have elevation angles ? in a range of 0.3?tan ??1.0 to an end surface. The panel structure is formed by a motion that is synchronous with a motion in which the score die is pressed to a surface of the laminated steel sheet during the formation of the score.

Abstract: An end closure for food and beverage containers is provided. The end closure comprises a score fracture force reduction feature. Thus, less force is required by a user to fracture the score and open the opening in the end closure. In one embodiment, the score fracture force reduction feature is a collapsible form raised above the center panel and having a score line and a coined area.
