Abstract: A portable electronic apparatus includes a screw cover storing portion and a screw cover. The screw cover includes a thin portion and a thick portion. The thin portion is separated from the screw cover storing portion. The thin portion has a engaging claw for fixing the cover on the portion. When an operator pushes the thin portion, the thin portion is bent. When the thin portion is bent, the engaging claw is released from the cover. The cover is easy to remove from the screw cover storing portion.

Abstract: A container for shipping and storing an article such as a video cassette has a base formed by a pair of spaced end walls, and a pair of spaced side walls. Integrally molded to the base is a lid having at least one destructible locking tang formed thereon which passes through an aperture formed in one of the side walls of the base. When the locking tang is inserted through the aperture, a shoulder on the tang engages the base wall and may only be disengaged from the wall by destructibly removing the locking tang from the lid. A tear groove preferably is formed in a hinge portion of the tang to facilitate removal of the tang from the lid. Also, provided on the lid and base are a plurality of projections to provide at least one snap-fit engagement between the lid and the base to latch the lid and the base together once the locking tang has been removed. A plurality of shock absorbing tabs are formed in the storage compartment to space the video cassette from the walls to reduce damage thereto during shipment.

Abstract: A rice cooking pot for use in cooking rice in a microwave oven has a container having a top opening for holding rice, an inner lid to be put on the container to close the top opening, and an outer lid to be put over the inner lid and press-fitted on the container. The inner lid has its central portion protruding upwardly in the shape of a sheath and is formed with a big center hole extending vertically through the sheath and with small holes provided around the big holes. The inner lid has its top surface sloping downwards toward the small holes.

Abstract: A pitcher and a lid that can be locked in place on the pitcher. The upper rim of the pitcher has an outwardly extending lip provided with two diametrically opposed cutouts. The periphery of the lid has two diametrically opposed lugs each provided with a downwardly extending hook. The lid is applied by aligning the lugs with the cutouts so that the hooks can pass through the cutouts. When the lid is then turned, the hooks fit beneath and interlock with the lip to secure the lid in place. Pour openings in the skirt of the lid are offset 90.degree. from the lugs to assure that the lid is in the locked condition when the liquids in the pitcher are poured.

Abstract: A flange disc for protecting a flange having an inner annular machined surface surrounded by an outer surface with bolt holes extending through the outer surface and opening to a back surface opposing the outer surface, includes: a disc of flexible material having a size corresponding to a size of the outer surface of the flange to selectively cover the inner surface, outer surface and bolt holes, the disc defining a disc plane; and a plurality of connectors symmetrically located about a periphery of the disc at locations corresponding to at least some of the bolt holes, the connectors being integral with the disc and having, at one end, a resilient hinge portion and, at an opposite end, an engagement portion for engaging the corresponding bolt hole, the connectors rotating about the hinge portion between a transport position in which the engagement portion is in the disc plane and an engagement position in which the engagement portion is angled with respect to the disc plane for engaging the bolt hole.

Abstract: A fastener for fastening front and rear housing portions of a housing assembly theretogether. A resilient tongue member is affixed to a surface of the rear housing portion to extend upwardly therefrom. A beveled, top edge surface of the resilient tongue member defines a ramped, face surface which extends to a back-angled, force-receiving surface. A hook member positioned beneath the front housing portion is positioned to permit mated engagement with the tongue member. The hook member is permitted elastic deformation responsive to application of forces thereupon by the ramped, face surface of the resilient tongue member during translation of the hook and tongue members into a fastening position. Once positioned in a fastening position, the hook member returns to a nondeformed state, to fasten the tongue member in position thereat, thereby to fasten the front and rear housing portions theretogether.

Abstract: A can clip comprises a generally C-shape spring metal clip body having a central bight portion and upper and lower arms extending from said central bight portion and defining between outer ends thereof an opening for passage therebetween of the peripheral edge portion of a lid and annular bead of a container. The central bight portion has a J-shape formed by an upright stem and a rounded base forming the lower end of the clip body. The lower arm slopes upwardly and outwardly and away from the rounded base and has an outer end portion intended to engage the underside of the container bead adjacent the side wall of the container.

The sidewall has an inner wall surface opposed to an outer wall surface. A closure member made complementary to the open end can be removably affixed thereto. The closure member provides a downwardly extending lip having an inner wall surface opposed to an outer wall surface, one of which slidably adjoins one of said inner and outer wall surfaces of the container wall when the closure member is mated respective to the container. A fixed locking member having an inclined rail thereon is attached to the outer wall surface. Also provided is a sliding locking member having an upper flange that bears against the top of the closure member and a lower rail engaging member of a size to receive the rail therewithin to thereby force the closure member toward the container bottom when the sliding locking member simultaneously engages the closure member and the fixed locking member.

Abstract: A tamperproof-protected reclosing device includes a cover frame (3) having a downwardly turned U-shaped groove (14) into which a planar cut upper or lower edge of a container (1) is designed to be pushed and fastened. A cover element (4) is connected to the frame (3) by a hinge and is designed to be pushed into and releasably secured in the interior of the cover frame (3). The cover element (4), when the container is sealed, is pushed into the cover frame (3). The tamperproof-protection is designed as a projecting appendage (8') of the cover frame (3) or the cover element (4), and forms a tear tab (8; 8') attached by a tear weakening (10'). When the reclosing device is not broken, the tear tab locks the cover element and the cover frame against each other. The projecting appendage (8'), when the container is sealed, is folded and sealed in such a way that the o cover element cannot be opened up provided the appendage (6; 8') is not torn off from the cover frame (3) and the cover element (4).

Abstract: A two wheeled vehicle which is utilized to receive a elasticized cloth laundry bag which in turn is used to receive linen and other washables from hospitals, nursing homes, other healthcare facilities and the like. The wheeled vehicle is collapsible for storage and has a unique cover to allow an open bag receptacle to be covered when not in immediate use and has a unique hinge assembly.A two wheeled vehicle which is utilized to receive a plastic trash bag which in turn is used to receive and store household trash and garbage. The wheeled vehicle has a unique cover with vinyl foam tape attached along the periphery of the underside of the cover so that odors from trash and garbage stored therein are unable to escape from the plastic trash bag.

A top handle (66) is provided within a recess (67) in the top surface (14) of cover portion (11).

Abstract: A disassemblable container capable of sustaining pressure and disassemblable into a body and a lid and which is assembled with a leaktight seal includes a piece which is movable but integrally connected to the body and is pushed into a cavity of the lid under the effect of the internal pressure acting on a shutter and in opposition to an elastic return member. By pressing the movable piece, the shutter is brought into a pressure-release position. The shutter prevents the opening of the container when under an excessively high pressure and advantageously also serves as a safety shutter against overpressures.

A lid having a generally planar configuration is adapted to mount on the tray with its outer surface disposed in the particular plane. A fixed tab on the lid is adapted to register with the first slot, while a moveable tab on the lid is slidable between a retracted position and an extended position wherein the moveable tab registers with the second slot.

Abstract: A tackle box has a box body with a hinged lid. The box body has a deeper front portion and a shallower back portion. Correspondingly, the lid has a deeper back portion and shallower front portion. The back portion of the box body carries a stack of interconnected slidably mounted superimposed trays which can be pulled out rearwardly cantilever fashion when the lid is opened. The front portion of the box body has superimposed pull-out drawers. The box has a bail-type pivoting handle with a lid-latching mechanism which only allows the lid to open when the handle is swung forwardly from a box-carrying position. In the top of the lid, there is a removable shallow carrying case which can be used separately from the box.

Abstract: A pinch clip lid for a non-hermetic package containing an electronic component having an exposed face has a step lid that includes means for centering the lid on the package. Attached to opposing sides of the lid are side bars that have a lower portion that extends slightly inwardly to grip the package when the lid is mounted on the package, and that have an upper portion contiguous with the lower portion so that when the top portions are pinched, the lower portions release the grip on the package so that the lid may be removed from or placed on the package.

Abstract: A diaper container is provided having an exterior lid and an interior flap member wherein the lid and flap member are each provided with a filter element. The lid member is pivoted at a rear edge thereof to open the container and the flap member is pivoted at a central portion thereof and covers an opening for receiving diapers into the container. The pivotal movement of the flap member is limited in order to control dispersion of odors from the container. In addition, the body of the container is configured with its longest dimension in the front to rear direction whereby the container may be placed within narrow passages.

Abstract: The present invention is an airtight canister. The airtight canister comprises a ceramic container and an acrylic cover. The ceramic container has an open top, a bottom and an annular groove adjacent to the bottom. The acrylic cover is secured on the ceramic container by an elongated cord and a wave-shaped hook. The elongated cord has two ends interconnected by a coil spring which creates a tension on the cord, and the hook is linked to the cord between its two ends. A generally ".pi."-shaped member is mounted on the cover and has an inner chamber for retaining the coil spring and the two ends of the elongated cord. When the cover is placed onto the open top of the container and the hook is retained by the annular groove adjacent to the bottom of the container, the tension on the cord created by the coil spring will remain a pressure on the cover through the connecting member, which in turn creates an airtight coverage.

In this position, a lock can be positioned through the slot opening (42) and through an opening (41) in the tab (40) to lock the latch assembly (13) and thus the cover (11) on the base portion (12).

Abstract: An improved carrying case for personal articles wherein the case has a lower part and a cover hinged to the lower part. The lower part and cover forms a water-tight enclosure or case when a hasp releasably connects the outer end of the lower part to the cover. An inclined upper margin of the lower part carries a seal in a groove in the cover of the lower part. The concave outer surfaces for the case provide additional inner volume for containing a greater number of personal articles as well as the reinforcement of the case. An eyelet on the cover receives a nylon cord, string or thong so that the case can be worn around the neck. The hasp is of conventional design.

Abstract: Latching members made of single strips of resilient material which can be removably attached to the rim of a conventional metal garbage can receptacle at spaced locations along the rim. The resilient strips are bent in a substantially U-shaped configuration to form clips having a substantially arcuate or cylindrical bight portion with an entranceway or mouth whose width is less than the diameter of the bight so that it can be snapped over the rim of a garbage can lid. One of the U-shaped resilient strips can pivot on the lid rim so that one leg can be positioned beneath the lip or upper beaded portion of the can to preclude removal of the lid from the can when used in combination with the other, resilient clips mounted on the lower beaded portion of the garbage can lid, with a leg beneath the can bead.

The handle assembly (30) includes lobe projections (36) which are received in the groove (17) when the handle assembly (30) is rotated toward the base container portion (12 ) at which time the locking tooth projections (38) engage the rear wall (21) of the base container (12) to lock the cover (11) in place.

Abstract: A lid-to-container locking assembly for lock sealing containers utilized in the transporting, storage and disposal of low level radioactive contaminated material. The locking assembly gives visual indications of a locked, sealed condition of the container through the utilization of a closure element that is ensconced in a latched position upon the lid to be secured, as well as to the container to be sealed. Detachment of the closure element at either of these points of its locking engagement with the lid and/or container will visually indicate an open and unsealed condition.

Abstract: A latch unit for releasably latching a lid to a mating container. The latch unit comprises a horizontally disposed resilient beam which is spaced from the rim of either the lid or the container and includes a resilient finger plate which extends toward the bottom of the lid or container to terminate in a free end. The finger plate has a detent disposed at its other end with a horizontal abutment surface. A locking cage is disposed on the side wall of the other of the lid or container and includes a horizontally disposed stop for engagement with the abutment surface when the latch unit is latched. The latch unit may be unlatched by flexing the finger plate to release the detent from the stop.

Abstract: A waterproof case for a camera, such as a television camera, comprises a case body having a pair of half cases hinged together so as to form a watertight space therein, a camera mounting shoe having a screw to engage the tripod receptacle of the camera, and a back plate having a flexible retaining tongue, a camera seat formed on one of the half cases to hold the camera mount, and a locking member provided on the camera seat so as to engage the flexible retaining tongue to lock the camera mounting shoe in place so that the camera is held securely in the half case provided with the camera seat. In placing the camera in the waterproof case, the camera mounting shoe fastened to the camera by screwing the screw in the tripod receptacle of the camera is inserted into the camera seat provided on one of the half cases, and then the waterproof case is closed.

Abstract: The invention is directed to an automatic locking mechanism for a dumpster container having a hinged lid. The elements of the locking mechanism comprise an L or U-shaped securing member which is attached to one or both sidewalls of the container. The securing member pivots over the lid, and is held in place by a securing mechanism. The securing mechanism fixes the L or U-shaped securing member in a position that inhibits opening of the container lid. The securing mechanism is automatically operated by a spring or gravity operated foot piece and linkage system which pivots the securing member over the lid of the container.

Abstract: A shock resistant gasketing system (10) for a liquid container (11) has a resilent gasket (14), a base (12) which has an enclosed area (20) therein, and a cover (13). A rim (25) defines an opening (26) into the enclosed area (20). The rim (25) has a retaining wall groove (30) and a gasket seat (27) contiguous with the opening into the enclosed area (20) and continguous with the retaining wall groove (30). The cover (13) is affixable to the base (12) and closes the opening (26) when the cover (13) is affixed to the base (12). Latches (40) can secure the cover (13) to the base (12). The cover (13) has a retaining wall (50) structurally corresponding to the retaining wall groove (30) of the base (12), such that the retaining wall (50) fits within the retaining wall groove (30) when the cover (13) is affixed to the base (12). The gasket (14) is positioned on the gasket seat (27) and is impinged between the base (12) and the cover (13) when the cover (13) is affixed to the base (12).

Abstract: An apparatus wherein a housing includes a base and lid, with the base and lid including a mirror image cavity in alignment relative to one another when the base and lid are in a first spaced configuration. The base and lid are hingedly mounted relative to one another to permit positioning of a similar plurality of saw blades therebetween within the base and lid cavity. The base and lid cavity include cooperative members to align the blades in the cavity. Each cavity is provided with dimaetrically opposed relief cavities to permit manual access to the saw blades when mounted within the cavity portions of each base and lid. A modification of the invention includes oil impregnated fabric members positioned and secured to each top surface of the saw blade to minimize corrosion and adherence of adjacent saw blades.

Abstract: A reusable closure device which is especially intended for use on conventional 18.9 liter plastic bottles in common use for supplying bottled drinking water. The device includes a plastic cap with a replaceable resilient seal. A pair of levers are mounted on the cap for pivoting movement between a first position which allows the cap to be placed on or removed from the bottle and a second position in which cam surfaces on the proximal ends of the levers engage a groove in the neck of the bottle to press the cap down on the bottle. The levers are approximately L-shaped and legs of the levers containing their distal ends interengage in the second position to form a carrying handle. At the present time, the abovementioned bottles are provided with non-reusable heat-shrink plastic caps which are discarded by users resulting in environmental waste. The present invention eliminates this waste.

Abstract: A molded plastic snap hinge box comprises two halves (U, L) with a hinge (H) formed from parts integrally molded to the two halves. One half of the hinge consists of three balls (20, 24) in a row, all on ball support arms extending from the box. The middle ball is larger than the two side balls; the two side balls are of equal diameter. Two coaxial cylindrical spacers (30) are mounted on spacer support arms extending from the other box half. The cylinder ends are dished spherically with radii equal to the ball radii; the cylinders snap in between the balls to form the hinges. When the hinge is assembled the three balls are each centered on the cylindrical spacers' axis, which runs parallel to the rear edge of the box in the plane of the box opening rim. The box may be closed with a latch closure (C) comprising a plate (40) on either box half. The plates are each coplanar with the opening rim. Each plate has a hole (44) and a post (42), the post of one plate mating with the hole of the other.

Abstract: A lid opener comprises a frame having a first axis and a second axis which extend substantially in parallel. A first member is integrally moveable with the lid for rotation about the first axis. A second member is in engagement with the first member and rotatable about the second axis. Means are provided for driving the second member for rotation in such a predetermined direction as to move the first member in such a direction as to open the lid, and are constructed and arranged as to allow movement of the first and second members during closing movement of the lid.

Abstract: A rotary machine having a machine body, and a cover covering an open end of the body. The cover is mounted and fixed to the machine body by mounting hooks formed as elastic plate-shaped members on the peripheral edge of the cover which is adjacent to the open end, and the distal end portion of each hook projects from the peripheral edge and has a folded end. Mounting portions at the open end of the machine body allow the hooks to be inserted therein. Therefore, the cover can be assembled onto the machine body with ease, at improved efficiency, and at low cost.

Abstract: A disposable single-use contact lens conditioning package having two pairs of adjacent open-topped containers of a size for accommodating a contact lens to be conditioned, a contact lens sterilizing solution or cleaning member in one container of each pair, a solution for counteracting the sterilizing solution or rinsing away a lens cleaning liquid in the other container of each pair, and a cover sealed over the pairs of containers over the tops thereof and capable of being peeled off the containers for opening the tops of the containers.

Abstract: A bread pan having corrugated top, bottom and side walls permits the baking f loaves having a generally accordion-like shape, such loaves being to some degree pressable without fracture. The pan has a bottom portion and a cooperating lid with the interface there between defining a seal which may be interrupted as a result of an increase of pressure within the pan to thereby release steam during baking.

In this position, a lock can be positioned through the slot opening (42) and through an opening (41) in the tab (40) to lock the latch assembly (13) and thus the cover (11) on the base portion (12).

Abstract: A shipping and storing container including a cubic-shaped shipping unit defining an open top cavity and a rotatable cover releasably secured thereto for closing the cavity. A peripheral side surface of the container defines two vertical channels which allow the container to be releasably coupled in a side-by-side relation to a like container by relative vertical movement between the containers. The configuration of the cover prevents it from rotating relative to the shipping unit when two containers are releasably secured together in side-by-side relation. A selectively operable security latch carried by the cover prevents inadvertent rotation of the cover relative to the shipping unit when the containers are separated. Each cover further includes an upstruck handle portion which facilitates handling of the containers and interlocks with a support base of a container stacked thereabove. A first seal is provided on the cover and shipping unit to prevent tampering with the articles carried within the container.

Abstract: The access door of a chamber housing opening is secured releasably in closed position by a latching mechanism provided on each of the four edges of the door. Each latching mechanism includes a plurality of spaced apart wedges projecting outwardly from the edge of the door for releasable registry with a plurality of spaced apart wedges on a wedge member mounted on the chamber housing for movement by an hydraulic cylinder between a door opening position in which the wedges on the door register with spaces between the wedges on the wedge member, and a door latching position in which the wedges on the wedge member are moved by the hydraulic cylinder into sliding, wedging engagement with the wedges on the door, whereby to draw the door into sealing engagement with the chamber housing adjacent the periphery of the opening in the housing. An O-ring seal disposed about the periphery of the door is arranged to engage the chamber housing upon closure of the door, to seal the chamber for evacuation or pressurization.

Abstract: A panel like lid is secured to a receptacle by a pintle for pivotal movement between a closed position and an open position about an axis whereby the lid remains horizontal at all times. In the closed position, a continuous groove in the underside of the lid matingly receives a bead upstanding from the upper edge of the sidewall of the receptacle. A compression spring encircling the pintle normally urges the lid downwardly against the receptacle. In response to movement from the closed position toward the open position, the lid is cammed upwardly to disengage the groove from the bead.

Abstract: A refuse disposal container for receiving waste comprises a conventional drum, a top assembly for fixing to the upper end of the drum and a rolling support structure for supporting the drum. The top assembly can include a fixing ring or clamping band for embracing the upper edge portion of the drum and a pivotable cover to protect the drum contents from rain and the like. Abstract: An electronic enclosure case comprised of first and second case sections or so-called "shells" having mating abuttable rims. A plurality of spaced apart hooks extend outwardly from the rim on one of the case sections and are adapted for insertion into openings formed in the rim of the opposite case section. The hooks and the openings are sized and shaped so that the hooks will extend into the openings to enable the rims to abut against one another. When one of the case sections is thereafter moved in a plane parallel to the surface of the rims relative to the other case section, the hooks become latched in the openings and, there is a tight fitting retention of the two case sections so that the electronic enclosure casing cannot be unauthorizedly opened. The hooks and the openings are further constructed so that by squeezing the side walls on one of the case sections, the hooks will become released from the openings.

Abstract: A hinged instrument tray and disposable receptacle for contaminated waste. The tray is formed in two halves which are joined by a hinge so that the two halves of the tray can be opened and laid side-by-side thereby permitting access to the instruments contained within the tray. Contaminated materials or instruments can be collected in one or both halves of the tray so that when use of the instruments or materials is completed, the two tray halves can then be folded one on top of the other and the two tray halves can then be permanently locked together so as to enclose the contaminated instruments or materials therewithin, thereby forming a secure, tamper-proof disposable receptacle.
