Producing Internal Cavity, Aperture, Or Opening Patents (Class 228/161)
  • Patent number: 4164311
Abstract: A ferrous or like metal attachment or coupling, such as a heavy round lug, includes a generally cylindrical body having a beveled base and a divider land or keel extends diametrically across the base and projects downwardly therefrom and divides the beveled base into two generally coequal component weld surface areas on opposite sides. The body of the metal coupling is positioned at a desired and preselected point on the external surface of a metal pipe or tube whereupon the metal coupling is preliminarily welded to join the divider land or keel to the external surface of the metal pipe or tube.

  • Patent number: 4146165
Abstract: A procedure for joining parts by brazing-diffusion byEffecting a primary machining on the parts to be assembled in order to prde reservoirs for filling metal,Arranging a strip between the parts or deposit a coating on one of the parts,Filling the filling metal reservoir with a metal powder,Holding the parts together and providing pressure on the surfaces to be joined by means of screws or the equivalent,Placing the assembly within an enclosure containing a controlled atmosphere which is heated to cause, first, the filling metal to flow and, second, diffusion to take place, thenPerforming a secondary machining to eliminate the retaining screws and if possible the reservoirs.

  • Patent number: 4131225
Abstract: A skid steer loader comprising an improved loader main frame and including an operator's compartment designed to present a low profile vehicle particularly suitable for low clearance applications. The loader main frame includes a center compartment partially defined by a pair of longitudinally extending, laterally spaced side beams. The engine for the vehicle is mounted at the rear of the center compartment and is acoustically enclosed by structural elements of the frame. A seat pan mounted on the side beams overlies the engine and transmission and separates the operator compartment from the center compartment. At a forward end of the center compartment an elongated transmission case forms a partial bottom wall and also encloses the chain and sprocket drive system of the vehicle. The side walls of the transmission case are displaced from the side walls of the frame, enabling the operator to straddle the case, thus reducing height requirements for both the operator compartment and the overall vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4100929
Abstract: A new and improved method and apparatus for plugging a branch line connection from a main line connection includes welding a suitable flange connection to the main line across from said branch line, tapping the walls of the main line from the flange connection to the branch line and positioning a plugging member adjacent and in said branch line wherein the plugging member seals against the inner surface of the main line which is normally smooth and also enables the pressure in the main line to further enhance the seal by enabling the pressure from the main line to exert pressure on the rear of the plug to seal against such main line immediately adjacent and around the periphery of the opening of the branch line.

  • Patent number: 4023611
Abstract: A method of connecting a pipe to a pressure conveying element, especially a pipe plate, a pressure container, and a collector, according to which the pressure conveying element is within the region of its intended connection with the pipe provided with lips. After the pipe provided on its inside and outside with a lip has been introduced into the pressure conveying element, the pipe is at its outer lip connected to the lip of the element by a complete through weld. Subsequently a centering bushing is introduced into the pipe and is clamped therein so that the outer surface of the centering bushing together with the inner surface of a bore in the conveying element--which bore is substantially coaxially arranged with regard to the pipe--forms a flat annular trough, whereupon the space between the outside surface of the centering bushing and the inner surface of the trough is filled with welding material.

  • Patent number: 3972464
Abstract: A method to provide a sealingly bonded filter housing comprises the steps of bonding a first end member to a first end of a body portion, forming an aperture in said body portion, and bonding a second end member to a second end of the body portion, to provide a sealingly bonded filter housing.
