Abstract: Systems and methods for generating a dual deterrent information object (IIO) are provided. A method includes analyzing a dual deterrent IIO to determine a first code, wherein the dual deterrent IIO comprises an IIO comprising a plurality of tiles and an associated mark, wherein each tile in the plurality of tiles represents a data element encoded by color, intensity, or both, and the associated mark comprises information related to the IIO. The first code is confirmed, and, if the first code passes the confirmation a new code comprising a bitstream is generated. The bitstream is overwritten on the plurality of tiles, wherein the dual deterrent IIO is the same size after writing of the bitstream. A new associated mark related to the dual deterrent IIO is generated and the associated mark is overwritten with the new associated mark.

  • Patent number: 8579198
Abstract: A laser scanning device is described. The device includes a laser for projecting a light beam. A mirror is optically coupled to the laser. The mirror reflects the light beam onto a target. A detector generates an analog signal in response to detecting a reflection of the light beam from the target. A processor is capable of modifying a scanning parameter of the laser scanning device. The processor processes the analog signal to generate a digital bar pattern and can embed the scanning parameter in the digital bar pattern.

  • Patent number: 8573498
Abstract: A printed cash letter includes a machine-readable identifier, such as a barcode, identifying the cash letter. Upon printing, information from the identifier is read and stored in a first record. To determine whether the cash letter is a duplicate, a check presentment module compares information from the identifier with information in the first record. If information identifying the cash letter already exists in the first record, the cash letter is a duplicate. To verify cash letter printing, information identifying multiple cash letters to be printed is stored in a second record. Upon printing a portion of the cash letters, information read from identifiers on the printed cash letters is compared with information in the second record. If the second record includes information regarding a cash letter not identified in the information scanned from the barcodes, then the check presentment module identifies the cash letter as having not been printed.

Abstract: One embodiment provides a system for printing a document from a portable device. During operation, the system obtains the document to be printed. Next, the system obtains a document optical code that identifies the document. Subsequently, the system displays the document optical code on the portable device in such a way that the document optical code can be scanned and recognized by a scanner associated with the printer. Next, the system allows the printer to retrieve and print the document based at least on the document optical code.

Abstract: An imaging device, a manufacturing method of an imaging device, and an information code reading device configurable not only to simplify their optical system and to reduce their costs, but also to suppress fluctuations of resin lenses and deterioration of lens performances due to its expansion. An optical system has a second lens made of resin and the other lenses made of glass. The power of the resin lens is small in comparison with that of the glass lens, wherein each power is set to be small in comparison with that of the optical system. In the lens frame structures, the lens holding part and the imaging element holding part are separately constituted, the lens holding part and imaging element holding part are fastened through the intermediate member, expansion coefficients of the lens holding unit and the imaging element holding unit are different so as to control the coefficients.
