Patent number: 7313847Abstract: The CTF Flip-N-Zip slider enables the purchasers of a zipper with the CTF Flip-N-Zip slider installed to disconnect at least one side of a zipped zipper and return it to the starting position. Current fixed sliders are very hard to fix if a foreign object jams the zipper or if the zipper opens behind the slider. CTF Flip-N-Zip slider requires only that the owner disengage the lock and remove either the top or bottom plates or half plate depending on the design. This is shown in the drawings for a releasable latch pin of the slider. The owner would then return the zipper to the starting position and reattach and lock the slider and start over using the same slider. Other designs currently in consideration are push button releases, hinged plates with hidden lever, draw activated releases, etc. Sliders will be made to fit all available zippers and zipper materials.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 2006Date of Patent: January 1, 2008Inventors: Christopher Theodore Felix, James Marvin Williams

Patent number: 6383622Abstract: A formed article of fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resin which has been adapted for use in a sliding member by restoring the wear resistance once degraded by the addition of reinforcing fibers to the normal level is disclosed. This formed article comprises a fiber-reinforced resin material of a thermoplastic resin containing reinforcing fibers and incorporating therein additionally as a sliding property-imparting agent a material having a storage elastic modulus in the range of 3.5×108 Pa to 5.0×108 Pa in a service temperature range of 30° C. to 70° C. The ratio of incorporation of the sliding property-imparting agent is properly in the range of 4 to 10% by weight when the matrix resin is a polyamide-based resin or 4 to 20% by weight when the matrix resin is a thermoplastic resin other than the polyamide-based resin, respectively based on the total weight of the resin and the reinforcing fibers.Type: GrantFiled: June 3, 1999Date of Patent: May 7, 2002Assignee: YKK CorporationInventors: Akira Ishibashi, Mamoru Tanaka, Mutsuo Hirota, Yoshifumi Miyajima

Publication number: 20020050030Abstract: The present invention provides a slider for an airtight and watertight slide fastener, which guides a seal member and said slide fastener stably and smoothly and which is capable of obtaining excellent airtightness and watertightness. A body of the slider has an upper wing and a lower wing with flanges on both of right and left sides, respectively, connected by a guide post. A partition plate is arranged in the middle of the guide post to form an insertion path for a seal member on an upper side thereof and form an insertion path for a linear fastener element or a discrete fastener element on a lower side thereof. A protruding bar is integrally provided at a distal end of the partition plate toward the rear port. In the case of the linear fastener element, an element pressing portion is provided therein. This slider appropriately separates the seal member and the fastener elements and guides them to have good coupling state, so as to stably effect an airtight and watertight function.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 24, 2001Publication date: May 2, 2002Applicant: YKK CorporationInventor: Shigeyoshi Takasawa

Patent number: 6378177Abstract: A fastener for a top-filled tamper-evident reclosable plastic package is disclosed. The package includes first and second opposing panels joined along a pair of sides and a bottom bridging said sides. The fastener includes first and second opposing tracks along a top of the package. The first and second tracks include respective first and second interlocking profiles and respective first and second fins extending from the respective first and second profiles. The first and second fins are joined to each other at their respective lower ends. A preferential area of weakness is disposed along or near the juncture of the first and second fins. While the fastener is attached to the first panel, the fastener initially is at least partially unattached to the second panel so as to allow the package to be filled with a product via a fill opening between the fastener and the second panel. After filling the package with the product, the fill opening is sealed.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 2000Date of Patent: April 30, 2002Assignee: Pactiv CorporationInventors: John D. Athans, Craig E. Patent number: 6292986Abstract: An assembly of sliders for zippers for plastic bags and the like and the accumulation of the sliders for use in form, fill and seal machines is disclosed. The sliders are oriented and mechanically or adhesively joined into chains. Mechanical assembly of sliders may be accomplished by snapping sliders together or slideably mounting sliders on a strip. Sliders may be adhesively assembled together by taping, welding, gluing, or melting the sliders. Sliders and chains of sliders are accumulated in cartridges, carriers, coreless rolls, spools or trays which are then connected to form, fill and seal machines for attachment of the sliders to a zipper and attachment of the zipper with a slider to bags.Type: GrantFiled: May 10, 1999Date of Patent: September 25, 2001Inventors: Alexander R. Patent number: 6220754Abstract: A closure device with interlocking fastening strips and a slider which establishes a leak proof seal. The closure device comprises first and second interlocking fastening strips arranged to be interlocked over a predetermined length and a slider with a separator finger which slidably engages said first and second fastening strips. The first fastening strip includes a first closure element and the second fastening strip includes a second closure element. The slider facilitates the occlusion of the closure elements when moved towards a first end of the fastening strips. The separator finger extends into the closure elements without extending completely through the closure elements. The portion of the closure elements below the separator finger are occluded when the slider is at the first end of the fastening strips.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 1998Date of Patent: April 24, 2001Assignee: The Glad Products CompanyInventors: Jeffrey S.
