Loose Grinding Body Comminutor (e.g., Ball Or Rod Mills) Patents (Class 241/170)
  • Patent number: 4096666
Abstract: An abrasive finishing machine comprising a cylindrical tub and a rotating base has annular sealing members attached to the tub and base of which the stationary sealing member is formed with axial ports for the injection of cooling fluid under pressure to cool and lubricate the rubbing surfaces and to wash intruding particles back into the tub.

  • Patent number: 4050897
Abstract: An apparatus that comprises (a) a fluid-tightly closeable materials-treating or reaction chamber with at least its body portion substantially completely enclosed by a temperature-control fluid chamber provided by its being surrounded by a temperature-control fluid jacket, (b) means to rotate the jacketed chamber end over end about an axis substantially normally transverse to its central axis, (c) divider-baffling means dividing its temperature-control fluid chamber into a plurality of, such as four, substantially similar and independent control-fluid compartments or quadrants, (d) temperature-control fluid ingress means which enable feeding temperature-control fluid into such quadrant while the reactor is rotating, (e) means in each compartment or quadrant to affect the flow of fluids through it to provide substantially uniform overall heat transfer from each of them; and (f) fluid egress means to enable discharging heat-control fluid from these compartments during the rotation.

  • Patent number: 3987967
Abstract: The proposed method of working materials comprises the action upon a material placed in a chamber by a plurality of magnetic elements of a magnetically hard material placed in the same chamber and moving chaotically under the action of an alternating magnetic field produced by an electric winding in the space where the chamber is found. The method of the present invention is characterized in that the magnetic elements are placed in the chamber to form a layer whose height is selected within the limits: ##EQU1## WHERE A IS THE AVERAGE SIZE OF THE MAGNETIC ELEMENTS, CM;h.sub.c is the height of the layer of the magnetic elements, cm;B.sub.r is the remanent induction of the magnetically hard material, gausses;.sub.I H.sub.c is the coercive magnetic force of the magnetically hard material, oersteds;.rho. is the density of the magnetically hard material, g/cm.sup.3 ;g is the acceleration of gravity, cm/sec.sup.2.

  • Patent number: 3933316
Abstract: A mill for crushing or comminuting material such as mineral ores. The mill includes a cradle mounted on fulcrum pins carried by a support frame. An upwardly concave arcuate wall of the cradle carries a relatively large diameter roll member having a hollow interior in which a second smaller diameter hollow roll member is carried. Slots are formed in the first roll member to comminuciate material into and from the interior thereof, and a slot may also be formed in the second roll member to communicate material into and from its interior. The lower portion of the cradle is supported in offset relationship from the fulcrum pins by means of compressions springs mounted on the frame.
