Each shredder/detangler includes a base and at least three generally planar and substantially identical paddles arranged in spaced and generally parallel relation relative to each other. The paddles extend from the base at an angle and projects away from the rear face of the chipping disc. The paddles on each shredder/detangler have a continuous elongated linear cutting edge for impacting with and further reducing and cutting the size of the chipped material engaged by the paddles. Each shredder/detangler further includes an impeller at a distal end of the base.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 22, 2009Publication date: July 22, 2010Inventor: James A. Cornelius

Patent number: 7744025Abstract: An orifice plate with an outer grinding section and an inner grinding section is disclosed. The outer grinding section is the main grinding section leading to the main material collection stream, and an additional grinding section is present in the inner section of the orifice plate to remove useable material from material swept toward the center of the plate by the action of a rotating knife assembly on the plate. The useable material obtained at the inner section is also led to the main material collection stream.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 2006Date of Patent: June 29, 2010Assignee: Weiler and Company, Inc.Inventors: Christopher E. Patent number: 7744026Abstract: A food mill including a container having a first flange and an opposing second flange, and a blade assembly removably connected to the container. The blade assembly includes a support arm having a first end defining a slot engageable with the first flange, and a second end including a latch. The latch is movable between a first condition, where the latch is disengaged from the second flange, and a second condition, where the latch is engaged with the second flange.Type: GrantFiled: May 5, 2006Date of Patent: June 29, 2010Assignee: Helen of Troy LimitedInventors: Paul Gregory, Alexandre Hennen, Conor McNamara

Patent number: 7735762Abstract: A knife system of a disc chipper, the knife in said system being clamped to its operation position between a wear plate and a press block. The wear plate is supported to the knife disc adjustably for the inclination with respect to the surface of the knife disc. The adjustability is provided by means of a hinge and an adjustment strip. The hinge strip is located adjacent a knife and the adjustment strip is located at the next chip opening. A convergent space is provided for the adjustment strip. The adjustment strip is correspondingly wedge-shaped and has a position adjustable and locking means.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 2009Date of Patent: June 15, 2010Assignee: Metso Paper, Inc.Inventor: Arvo Jonkka

Publication number: 20100127107Abstract: A wood chipper includes a housing having an inlet opening and a discharge outlet with a chipper disk rotatably mounted in the housing and having a chipper knife mounted on a front face thereof adjacent a chipper slot extending through the disk. A plurality of fins are mounted on the back face of the chipper disk. An inlet hopper is connected to the inlet opening and a blow back shield is mounted in the upper end portion of the hopper with the shield including an outer layer of clear synthetic material extending across the hopper and an inner layer of synthetic material extending part way underneath the length of the layer of clear synthetic material. The inner layer may be provided with a safety warning thereon which is visible through the outer layer of clear synthetic material. A discharge chute is connected to the discharge outlet which has inwardly angled plates around part thereof. Vent holes are provided in a wall of the housing which add air flow to the wood chipper when it is being operated.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 21, 2008Publication date: May 27, 2010Inventors: Donald Ryan Grant, Stephen A. Patent number: 7721981Abstract: A mechanical control mechanism for the feed of a brush chipper is disclosed. The feed control bar has four positions: (1) forward or feed, (2) neutral, (3) reverse, and (4) stop. The hydraulic control valve has the three usual positions: (1) forward or feed, (2) neutral, (3) reverse. A function of the feed control bar is to provide the three function of the hydraulic control valve, plus the fourth in a fashion amenable to emergency situations. To these ends, the control bar has an extreme rearward position wherein the feed mechanism is stopped. The only permissible change to the stopped condition of the feed mechanism is to reverse the feed. Until a reset lever is manipulated, the hydraulic control valve cannot be put into a forward feed position.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 2009Date of Patent: May 25, 2010Assignee: Vermeer Manucaturing Co.Inventors: John T.
