  • Patent number: 11738579
Abstract: A device for introducing patterns by radiating a wound continuous substrate. The device provides patterning during continuous roll-to-roll movement without material slippage and with minimal distortion by providing a dancer roll between a processing drum and an unwinder roll on one side, and a winder roll on the other side, for tautly guiding the continuous substrate along a contact surface of at least half of the circumference of the processing drum in order to drive the continuous substrate without slippage. The dancer rolls are adapted to tautly guide the advancing substrate web and returning substrate web with a constant force, and an equilibrium is adjustable between a defined counterforce and the constant action of force on the dancer roll by a stabilization device, and is maintained constant by a controller based on measured deflections of the dancer roll by controlling the rotational speed of the unwinder and winder rolls.

Abstract: A dress pack manager for use with a robotic arm having an end-of-arm tool supplied with power or working fluid via a dress pack. A pair of rollers are spaced apart such that the dress pack may pass between them, and such that rotation of the rollers applies friction to the dress pack and causes the dress pack to move. An electric motor rotates one of the rollers in both a forward and backward rotation and is torque-controlled to maintain a constant tension applied to the dress pack by the rollers.

Abstract: A general winding and feeding apparatus includes a rotating shaft on the upper side of a standing wall of a base, and a motor is connected to the rotating shaft in the standing wall. A swing arm extends across a traveling material and is situated at a suitable position on the standing wall. Digital variable frequency methods may be used to drive the motor, which operates in conjunction with light-coupled sensors to detect the traveling speed of a material on the swing arm and sense a swing position of the swing arm. Feedback is generated in real-time to modify the speed of the motor, and the constant speed travel of the material can be achieved while being either wound or unwound.

  • Publication number: 20110006148
Abstract: A tensioner for controlling tension in a continuous web being wound onto a rewind roller after the web is processed, for example after printing on labels carried on the web. The tensioner receives the web from a processor and has a slack sensor between the processor and the input of the tensioner. The slack sensor indicates when the slack is a selected minimum, and the web is clamped by the tensioner. After a selected time, which is before the slack sensor indicates a maximum slack is present, the motor driving the rewind roller is stopped and the web is unclamped. After unclamping the web, the rewind roll is again driven at a speed to take up more of the web than that which is driven by the processor, to wrap the web around the core until the slack sensor indicates the slack in the web is at a minimum.
