  • Patent number: 9212022
Abstract: An adjustable mandrel for use with cored, or coreless rolls of stretch film is disclosed. The mandrel comprises a cylindrical shaft and a sheath. The shaft and sheath each comprise slanted regions that slide against each other when the shaft is moved relative to the sheath, and this sliding movement causes the radial displacement of the sheath such that the mandrel expands to press against the inner surface of a roll of stretch film. The displaced sheath portions retract when the shaft and sheath are disengaged and can be moved from the roll and reused. The even pressure exerted by the mandrel across the roll prevents deformation of the roll and waste of the film.

  • Patent number: 9150381
Abstract: An expansion device configured for securely holding a rolled material when the rolled material is handled on roller is disclosed. The expansion device includes a roller spindle, two expansion members, a fixing sleeve, a clamping nut, and a locking member. The locking member moves toward the expansion members, so that the two expansion members expand toward the fixing sleeve, and protrusions which are formed on the expansion members are pressed outward through fixing holes of the fixing sleeve, and then resist against an inner surface of rolled material inside a rolling hole formed therethrough the rolled material. Thus, the rolled material is held securely by the expansion device.

  • Patent number: 8844859
Abstract: A reel-to-reel assembly is provided. The reel-to-reel assembly includes, but is not limited to a supply spindle and a wind-up spindle. The supply spindle receives a supply reel having a length of ribbon wrapped around the supply reel. The wind-up spindle receives an initially empty wind-up reel. The wind-up spindle includes an adjustment mechanism for varying the outer diameter DO of the wind-up spindle from an initial outer diameter DOi to a final outer diameter DOf which is larger than the initial outer diameter DOi.

  • Patent number: 8033496
Abstract: A rolled body holder includes a center shaft member serving as a lead screw connected to a handle, a cam member screwed to the center shaft member, and a plurality of segments which form a cylindrical body covering the center shaft member and the cam member. The cam member includes a plurality of rails, and each of the rails includes a cam surface with a radially varying height. Each of the segments includes a follower part fitted to the rail and relatively slidable along the cam surface and an outer surface part on which multiple projections are formed. When the cylindrical body is inserted into a paper tube of a rolled body and the handle is rotated, the center shaft member is rotated to move the cam member in the longitudinal direction. Then, a portion of the cam surface, which is higher in the radial direction, is brought into contact with the follower part, and each of the segments extends in the radial direction so that the projections bite into an inner surface of the paper tube.

  • Patent number: 7770838
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of releasing a reel awe, which is hydraulically restrained by a self-locking effect by means of inwardly located wedge surfaces of expansion elements. Removal of a coil from a reel awe is achieved, without problems, by lifting off the self-locking effect of the expansion elements at least partially or completely by applying longitudinal vibrations acting in an axial direction. The invention also relates to a correspondingly formed device.

  • Publication number: 20090308968
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a dispenser for use with rolls of film material, particularly coreless rolls. The mandrels of the dispenser can move between a retracted position wherein the dispenser has a reduced diameter, such as for when the dispenser is being inserted into a roll of film, and an increased diameter, such as for when the film is being dispensed from the dispenser. The mandrels have sections which are joined by various spring configurations and are formed as being axially slidable with respect to a central shaft with lug elements. As the mandrel is slid along the central shaft, the lug elements deflect the spring configurations outwardly so as move the mandrels radially outwardly and increase the radius of the dispenser.

  • Publication number: 20040094655
Abstract: An expanding mandrel is useable for rotatably mounting a strip of material that is wound around a sleeve or core. The expanding mandrel includes an ejecting device that is useable to strip the sleeve or core from the mandrel. The ejecting device includes at least a first part, which is rotatable about an axis together with the sleeve or core, and a non-rotatably mounted second part. The first part can strip the sleeve or core from the mandrel by actuation of the second part. That second part is a piston which can be driven by a fluid under pressure.

  • Patent number: 6405970
Abstract: A core shaft having lugs protruding from its outer circumference to grip winding cores such as a paper tube is provided, wherein the movement of the lugs within a shell of the shaft is inhibited thereby to secure concentrical gripping of the winding cores with the core shaft and to prevent from decentering and vibration or runout of the winding cores, eventually enabling a smooth winding or unwinding of a sheet material.
