  • Patent number: 9377073
Abstract: A flexible support shaft (10) configured to be arranged on a first object to flexibly support a second object moving relative to the first object is provided. The flexible support shaft comprises a first connecting flange (20) for being mounted on the first object, a compression spring (30) having one end arranged on the first connecting flange, an elastic member (40) configured to be embedded by the compression spring to change the elasticity of the compression spring, and a second connecting flange (50) arranged on the other end of the compression spring to support the second object. Because of the design of the compression spring and the elastic member thereon, the flexible support shaft acts not only as a support but also as a shock absorber for the second object in relative motion. Furthermore, since the compression spring is embedded in the elastic member, the elastic member changes the elasticity and rigidity of the compression spring.

The isolator and damping device are used to isolate structures and thus to mitigate earthquake effects on structures. These devices extremely reduce transmitted energy to an isolated superstructure, so that protected structures by means of the devices described herein, may have small or no damages. The isolator has a spherical base fixed to ground via a footing, middle part that responds to the moving base by rotating around the center of a small concave or convex, causing the superstructure to move upwards and downwards vertically, and a top part connected to a superstructure. The damping device consists of a base receives vertical displacement from the superstructure, dampers and springs to dissipate more energy, restrict maximum horizontal displacements and might help returning the superstructure to its stationary position in smooth way.

Abstract: This invention relates to a support or hanger utilizing a conical spring washer or set of conical spring washer displaying variable load characteristics. When installed, both types (support or hanger) allow for small movements in pipe, ductwork or equipment (PDE), thus, allowing for the thermal growth of PDE. Conventionally, helical coil spring supports are chosen to meet the load capacities of PDE but are reluctantly used because of their large size. By using conical spring washer s, the size of the support is substantially reduced making it a more useable device. A smaller, more compact design proves to increase the support/hanger's application making it more stable to place under piping and even under reciprocating motion equipment like generators and pumps. For small displacements, it is found that this invention behaves in the same manor as a conventional helical coil spring support under the same applied loads.

This support provides vibration-isolating systems for shipboard mounting of these marking machines. The US Navy has imposed strict one-man, short-time requirements to mount and unmount electrostatic marking machines on a ship's deck. A key feature of the present embodiments is a double-threaded stud that lifts the machine off the floor onto the isolation mounts while securing it to the mount which is bolted to the ship's deck. The present configuration satisfies the new Navy mandate.

Abstract: A method for machining particularly spectacle lenses by means of a machine which comprises at least one cutting unit and at least one turning unit in a common working space, wherein at least two spectacle lenses are machined at the same time in the working space, one of said spectacle lenses being cut while the other is turned. The machine frames of the cutting unit and of the turning unit are essentially decoupled from one another in terms of vibration and/or at least two machining units of the machine comprise workpiece spindle units for generating a transverse movement of the spectacle lens to be machined with respect to the respective tool, the workpiece spindle units being arranged essentially perpendicular to one another. As a result, it is possible for spectacle lenses to be machined in an extremely short time with high machining performance and with high surface precision and quality.

Abstract: A mouse tray apparatus includes a substantially planar mouse tray pivotally mounted at a bottom mid-portion thereof to a base such that as an operator moves a mouse over a top surface of the mouse tray, a weight of the operator's hand on the mouse causes the tray to tilt downward in a direction corresponding to a location of the mouse on the mouse tray. A bias force can be provided to resists tilting of the mouse tray away from a horizontal position, so that as the operator moves a mouse over a top surface of the mouse tray, a weight of the operator's hand on the mouse overcomes the bias force and causes the mouse tray to tilt.
