  • Patent number: 8491827
Abstract: A method for producing a flexible, three-dimensional coating structure with a surface curvature on the front side and an impression on the rear side for a flexible switch or a flexible user interface. The method is essentially characterized by the following steps: introducing an uncured, transparent casting compound into a compression mold with an impression that forms the shaping of a surface curvature; introducing a counterpunch that penetrates at least partially into the impression, so that the casting compound is distributed in the gap between the shaping of the surface curvature of the compression mold and the surface of the counterpunch and fills this gap; introducing energy into the casting compound, so that the casting compound cures to form a substantially self-supporting, flexible, transparent surface layer with a surface curvature on the front side and an impression on the rear side.

Abstract: A feed channel spacer for a spiral wound membrane element has inlet and outlet edges that are thinner than the rest of the spacer material. The edges may be made thinner, for example, by passing the edges of a sheet of feed spacer material through a pair of hot rollers or by compressing the edges of the sheet in a heated press. The thinned edges of the feed spacer material are located in the element between glue lines applied to the permeate spacers of the element. The thin edges allow a greater membrane surface area to be provided in a given element diameter. A feed channel spacer may also have an area with obstructions to create micro-mixing effects. These obstructions may be provided on a feed spacer sheet of constant thickness, or one with thin edges.

  • Patent number: 8354049
Abstract: An antibacterial measure using titanium oxide includes mixing titanium oxide in a resin to form a coating resin, and then coating a key surface with the coating resin. This method requires formation of a coating layer on a resin molding and thus increases the number of the production steps and cost. Furthermore, in the method, a coating film containing an antibacterial agent is scraped off light by little at each time of keying, and thus the film is finally completely removed to lose its antibacterial function. A conceivable measure against this includes directly mixing a resin and an antibacterial agent. However, titanium oxide used as an antibacterial agent degrades a raw material resin. It has recently be thought that photocatalytic apatite as a substitute for titanium oxide also causes chalking, and an antibacterial coating layer has been formed on a surface of a resin molding.

  • Patent number: 8133417
Abstract: Disclosed is a process for the preparation of shaped articles such as, for example, sheeting, films, tubes, bottles, preforms and profiles, having high transparency and low haze comprising immiscible blends of one or more thermoplastic polymers selected from polyesters, polycarbonates, and polyarylates, and a copolyamide or a transamidized, homogeneous blend of a least two polyamides. The components of the immiscible blend which have refractive indices which differ by about 0.006 to about ?0.0006. The small difference in the refractive indices enables the incorporation of regrind into the polymer composition to produce transparent shaped articles. These articles may have one or more layers and can exhibit improved excellent barrier properties and good melt processability while retaining excellent mechanical properties. Metal catalysts can be incorporated into the compositions to produce shaped articles having oxygen-scavenging properties.
