  • Patent number: 4560152
Abstract: A powered work clamping device includes a housing having an upper chamber and a lower chamber, and a piston in the lower chamber connected to an index rod which projects into the upper chamber. The index rod is axially movable but not rotatably movable, and is biased to an upper position. A plunger extends from the housing and has a work engaging member at one end with a piston at its other end disposed within the upper chamber. The plunger is mounted on the index rod for axial and rotative movement, and is biased to a retracted clamped position. To unclamp a workpiece, hydraulic fluid is directed to a valve assembly within the device which sequentially delivers fluid first to the upper chamber to extend the plunger and then to the lower chamber to axially move the index rod and its piston to swing the plunger.

Abstract: A device for the accurate positioning of the LWL fiber ends of LWL components, particularly of LWL switches and plug connectors in which a support surface is provided with a guide slot arranged at right angles to the surface for receiving the support part of LWL fiber ends. The accurate positioning of the LWL fiber ends takes place by means of a sliding part which presses the LWL fiber ends by spring force against the support surface of the device and the boundary surface of the support part. The lengthwise positioning is made possible by contact of the fiber end faces against the stop surface of a spacer. Such devices are useful for the manufacture of LWL components, particularly of LWL switches and plug connectors in telephone engineering.

  • Patent number: 4519280
Abstract: A device for making miter cuts in workpieces includes a saw guide pivoted to either a bottom surface B or a top surface A of a board. The saw guide includes two plates spaced above the board surfaces by a pivot assembly and a swing assembly. Almost any commercially available circular power saw may be accommodated by placing the saw base on the plates, positioning the saw blade within alignment slots in the assemblies, and adjusting rails on the plates against the saw base. A keeper on one of the rails prevents the saw from jumping out of the saw guide. When the rails are properly adjusted, the circular saw blade will travel along a saw line between the plates from alignment slot to alignment slot. The top surface A of the board has a straight edged backup adjacent a planar work area. 90.degree. and 45.degree. stops on the top surface reliably and accurately position the saw line normal to or at a 45.degree. angle to the straight edge and aligned with 90.degree. and 45.degree. slots in the backup.

  • Patent number: 4508327
Abstract: A hydraulically actuatable swing clamp, particularly for the clamping of objects on the table of a machine tool, includes a housing with a piston arranged therein, the latter having a piston rod extending in sealed manner out of the housing. The piston rod carries a clamping arm which in addition to a pure axial clamping motion, performs a swinging motion, effected by a guide device. The guide device includes a normally non-rotatable control bolt arranged on the housing extending into the piston, and at least one cam groove developed in a guide surface between the control bolt and the piston. The cam groove has a helical groove section for the swinging and simultaneous lifting motion, and an axial section for the pure axially directed clamping motion of the clamping arm. A guide member, preferably a ball, arranged on the piston or control bolt, extends into the cam groove.

  • Patent number: 4175728
Abstract: The present disclosure describes an improved clamp for use with belted cables in the assembly of electronic equipment. In performing its clamping function, the device is adapted to engage the chassis structure upon which the cables are to be routed and terminated. The clamp design is characterized by its effectiveness with a single flat cable or a bundle of such cables. An increase in the clamping pressure exerted upon the cables results in a proportional increase in the force with which the clamp engages the chassis. This assures that the clamp will remain firmly in place during the assembly operation. Moreover, during such operation, the clamp may be easily removed to permit the addition of another cable and then reapplied. Finally, when the wiring of the cable bundle has been completed, the clamp may optionally be removed for use at another location or permitted to remain permanently in place.

  • Patent number: 3940122
Abstract: In a quick acting clamping device a pair of pressure levers are mounted in a cylindrical housing for displacement between an unclamped position and a clamped position. In the unclamped position the pressure levers extend obliquely to the cylindrical axis of the housing and in the clamped position they extend parallel to the cylindrical axis. Movement of the pressure levers between the clamped and unclamped positions is provided by mounting one end of each of the levers in a pressure piece. The pressure piece is located in a bore in a piston mounted in another bore within the cylindrical housing. The bore in which the piston is mounted extends transversely of the housing, while the bore in the piston extends in the direction of the cylindrical axis of the housing.
