  • Publication number: 20020067000
Abstract: The subject MILITARY BOARD GAME includes a playing board with a top surface having primarily linear orientated pathway(s). The playing board may also have peg hole(s), or track(s), that seat playing pieces having pegged, or slotted, undersides in the pathways to prevent inadvertent movement during game play. Players utilize the pathway for progressive or regressive movement en route to a final destination at one end of the pathway. This movement is regulated by a number of factors including designated spaces, card play and rolling dice. The first player to successfully traverse from one end of the pathway to the other is the victor of the game.

  • Patent number: 6260848
Abstract: A modified game of chess compirsing four individual armies is disclosed herein. There can be two, three or four participants. A gameboard is modified to comprise seventy-two alternating smaller squares of equal dimensions for a total of 144 squares, but of two distinct alternating colors. The gameboard has a border with linear groups of designation marks for initial pawn movements. The methodology is novel in that two, three, or four participants, each initially with his or her own modified army of chess pieces, can form or dissolve alliances with other armies. Armies may also, by checkmate, control one or more defeated armies. The result is a modified game for experienced players.

Abstract: A game of skill includes a playing board having a perimeter surrounding a playing area divided into equally sized boxes, wherein each box is marked with an identifying element, such as a geometric shape and/or symbol of a particular color. The identifying elements dictate the permitted direction of movement of corresponding playing pieces along avenues formed by the arrangement of identifying elements within the boxes. Scoring points are indicated at the juncture of four box corners, identifying the center of four adjacently positioned boxes in a square area. The playing pieces are provided in contrasting colors to identify each player. Each player is provided with four sets of playing pieces, the playing pieces in each set being of a particular group to identify the permitted movement of the playing pieces of that group. Each player is further provided with scoring pieces of contrasting color. When a scoring point is surrounded on three sides (i.e.

Abstract: A game for play by one or more players. The illustrated game includes a selection surface for each player. Each surface faces a player area where the associated player would position herself to observe the surface. A liquid discharge mechanism is selectively operable to direct a liquid discharge toward the player areas. The selection surface has a plurality of sites or locations. At the start of each game, a group or some but not all of the sites on a selection surface are predetermined, but the player associated with that surface does not know which sites have been predetermined. The players may take turns selecting sites on their surfaces with the objective of selecting the predetermined sites. As one player makes selections, the discharge mechanism is directed toward the other player's play area, and when a predetermined selection is successfully selected, the opposing player may receive a liquid discharge or spray.

  • Patent number: 4902017
Abstract: A war simulation board game utilizes a playing board having a grid pattern of square segments, each square having a centrally located circular target zone. Game pieces simulating war vehicles move on the grid pattern according to a spinner. Opposing players "fire" on each other's game pieces and headquarter zones by placing the tip of an ink marker on a target zone of a square occupied by one of their game pieces and orienting the marker in a vertical position, supported by an index finger contacting a butt end portion of the marker. The player then applies an external force to the marker forcing the marker tip to freely slide away from the target zone and forcing the marker to leave contact with the player's index finger as it falls in an arcuate motion. The sliding marker tip forms an ink line segment simulating a projectile shot path on the board surface. If the resulting ink line segment passes through a target zone of a square occupied by an opposing game piece, the "shot" is scored as a hit.

Abstract: The disclosure is of a three-person chess game and board having a central playing area in the form of an equilateral triangle bordered at each of its three sides by a rectangular playing field or area having at least two rows of eight squares each according to at least part of the conventional chess or checker board. Each rectangular field is contiguous with its side of the triangle and moves are made from the rectangle into the triangle and subsequently into either of the other rectangles according to prescribed rules. At least some of the moves are dictated by an element of chance, such as the roll of one die. The rectangles are identical and three conventional chess sets are used, albeit these may be of contrasting colors as may be the markings of the chess board squares as well as the smaller triangles into which the basic central triangle is subdivided.

  • Patent number: 4634129
Abstract: A board game is provided and includes a checker-like game board having a plurality of rows of differently colored playing spaces. Differently colored playing pieces, both of a single color, and two colors, are positionable on the playing spaces in accordance with playing space-playing piece color coincidence. For adult play, movement of the playing pieces to like-colored playing spaces on the opponent's side of the game board is accomplished by playing piece movement, and jumping of the opponent's playing pieces; with the single colored playing pieces having greater freedom of movement in the manner of "kings" in checkers. For play by children, movement of the playing pieces to like-colored playing spaces on the opponent's side of the game board is accomplished by playing piece movement in accordance with sequential "throws" of multi-colored cubes.

  • Patent number: 4534567
Abstract: A board game in which a horizontal playing surface is defined by an array of hexagonal spaces, each space abutting the adjacent space, and a number of vertical walls disposed along lines formed by adjacent hexagonal spaces. Player start spaces are provided and a target is located on a site remote from the start spaces. Available paths of movement from space to space are limited by the walls but the player token has a marker movable parallel to the planar surface and transverse to the playing surface to pass over a wall. Both the player and the target may attack each other when they are on an aligned file of spaces, however, the target is further required to be facing the player token in order to attack. The playing spaces include defense zones armed by the presence of a defense playing piece in the form of a missile silo or cannon and activated by a chance drum borne by the target along with a number chance drum.

  • Patent number: 4486021
Abstract: A game which uses two (2) sets of player pieces, one set for each player. The game is played with two (2) players, each opposing the other. The playing pieces are arranged on a playing surface, or game board, which is comprised of evenly spaced checkered squares thereon. Each player has the same number of playing pieces evenly distributed on a portion of half the board and facing the player tokens of the opposite party. The object of the game is to capture the player tokens of the other party by either eliminating and taking the player token of the other party or completely surrounding and immobilizing it. A player can capture an opponent's token by placing two of his tokens on the same square that one of his opponent's tokens is located. A player can immobilize an opponent's token by placing two tokens on all squares adjacent to the square on which the opponent's token is located. The games includes dice for indicating the advancement of player tokens in a selected direction.

Abstract: A solar system conquest game has a game board including a plurality of movement paths that form a first set of concentric circular orbits and a second set of orbits intersecting the circular orbits at pre-selected locations with these orbits defining movement paths for playing pieces corresponding to each player. The intersections define exchange points where pieces may change orbits. A set of cards determines additional pieces to be entered onto the board by a player, and dice determine the number of movement steps to be traversed by a player during his turn, and a second set of dice controls the outcome of a confrontation between playing pieces. The game board may further be divided into a number of sectors, and a set of instruction cards influence events in a particular sector for all players having pieces located therein.

Abstract: A board game apparatus comprises a game board having a playing area divided into a plurality of cartels. Contest tokens are movable about the playing area between adjacent cartels for occupying a cartel, challenging opposing players to the right to occupy a cartel, and for defending such a challenge. A resource calculator designates at least two resources, generates a production and a consumption index for each resource, and provides instructions for exchanging surplus resources. A common market place is provided for exchanging a quantity of one resource for a quantity of another resource. A chance apparatus determines the right to occupy a cartel challenged by a player, whereby in playing the game, each player receives resource tokens in accordance with the assigned production index for each cartel which the player occupies, and must balance production and consumption of each of his resources.
