Abstract: A game set for simultaneously playing at least two interactional games on a single chessboard which comprises two or more subsets of pieces wherein each piece in each subset has a different size than the corresponding piece in the other subsets and is fractionally shaped in order to combine with at least one other piece from any other subset on a single square of the chessboard. The game in which a particular piece is currently operating is indicated by a color-coded ring insertable over a stub projecting from the top of said piece. The base of each piece is tierce-shaped with at least two adjacent sides defining vertical planes intersecting each other at 120.degree. whereby at least two bases can be contiguously placed in a circular pattern on a single square of the chessboard.

  • Patent number: 4227696
Abstract: A board game comprises a board containing a plurality of playing areas which contiguously form diagonal rows. A plurality of sets of pieces are positioned on the playing areas and are movable thereon. Each piece includes an indicator which, when oriented in the direction of one of the rows toward a piece of the other set, places the latter piece under attack. Each piece originally is oriented on its associated playing area out of the direction of the rows so as to be unable to place a piece of the other set under attack. Each playing area has a smaller attack area therein oriented at an angle relative to the playing area and corresponding in shape to the pieces. Accordingly, when a piece is turned to an attack position, it is aligned with the attack area. The sets of pieces are initially set up on the playing areas to form mutually facing pyramids with the front piece of one pyramid laterally offset relative to the front piece of the other pyramid.

  • Patent number: 4226419
Abstract: A chess type game played by two players on a playing board having 64 squares. Each player has four rectangular pieces called North, South, East, and West and a number of three different colored pins. Each piece has four directional vectors, an orientation indicator, and five pin openings in its head. Each piece can move in four directions as indicated by the vectors and the movement of each piece is different from the movement of another piece. Three basic play actions are score, restrict movement, and force movement. A game objective of scoring a specified number of time on the playing pieces of the opponent, scoring one time on opponent's special playing piece, or capturing the opponent's special playing piece is selected before play by the players. Special rules to accompany the selected game objective may also be selected before play by the players. The game may vary depending on the selected game objective and the special rules selected for the game by the players.

Abstract: A chess-like board game for use by two players comprises a checker board having a peripheral checker playing area with rows and columns of bilaterally alternating colored spaces. A central playing area comprising a checker area with rows and columns of bilaterally alternating colored spaces of a different color (i.e. blue) indicating the sea. The checkered areas are aligned both in rows and columns for movement of pieces along the outer peripheral area or through the central area. A set of chess-like pieces are provided on each side of the playing board including a plurality of different pieces having different moving characteristics. Each side of the board is provided with a marked area indicated as the target area for occupation by pieces of the opposing side. The central playing area (i.e. the sea) is provided with pieces functioning as boats for movement of the playing pieces across the sea. The boats may move only when occupied and then according to the characteristics of the piece occupying the boat.

  • Patent number: 4200293
Abstract: This invention relates to games, and more particularly, to a chess-like board game. The game comprises, in the first embodiment, a gameboard having disposed thereon a playing field including a generally square area of individual checker-like squares forming said playing field. The squares form increments of travel for uniquely configured marker members. Each player is given a set of marker members, and each set has identification means for identifying the marker members of that set which belong to a particular player. Each marker member has eight sides with means disposed adjacent each side for indicating the number of squares that marker member may move in a predetermined direction. The game also includes chance means which is operable by each player for identifying the square upon which each of the marker members which belong to each player is placed at the inception of the game.

  • Patent number: 4198055
Abstract: A board game type game apparatus is provided by a game board having a plurality of defined stations and a plurality of playing pieces which interact with the playing stations to indicate in which direction and for how many stations a playing piece may be moved on subsequent moves. Each playing piece includes a plurality of apertures in its upper surface and a movable substrate mounted below the apertures having a predetermined pattern of light and dark areas. The pattern in combination with the apertures determines the direction of moves and the number of stations which that playing piece may be moved. The game board includes a mechanism for moving the substrate relative to the apertures so that, after each move, new information may be provided to indicate a different direction of travel and number of stations to be traversed on a subsequent move. Opposing playing pieces are captured by a proper move which terminates on a station occupied by an opponent's playing piece, which is then removed from play.

  • Patent number: 4194741
Abstract: The square game board has a peripheral pattern of alternating playing squares and non-playing squares in a checker board pattern together with a central four-sided ring of playing squares surrounding a central-most non-playing area. Die is provided to chance control the number of moves and forward or backward direction of moves in the peripheral area and/or the number of moves in and the peripheral direction within the ring, only if an opponent's piece cannot be jumped, which jumping is mandatory. Occupation of the four corners of the ring will permit removal of any pieces from the players back row, with the object being to remove all of your pieces or occupy only the four corners of the ring.
