The base member is received in a casing which is connected to the electric saw and an opening is defined in the casing. A lever is pivotably engaged with the opening of the casing and includes a pushing end which is located beneath a bar of the cam member so that when pivoting the lever, the pushing end pivots the cam member to remove the cam head from the blade.

    Abstract: A blade attachment/detachment mechanism for detachably attaching a blade to a saber saw. An end portion of the blade is formed with a blade hole. A reciprocally movable plunger has a blade attachment end portion where a slit and a stepped hole are formed. The slit extends in a longitudinal direction of the blade, and the stepped hole extends in a direction perpendicular to the slit and intersects the slit. An engagement pin is provided in the stepped hole. The engagement pin is engageable with the blade hole to fix the blade to the plunger when the blade end is inserted into the slit. For moving the engagement pin, a knob is pivotally supported to the blade attachment end portion, and a torsion spring is provided to bias the knob in a blade attaching direction.     Abstract: A conventional ball lock mechanism has been replaced with a wedge adapted to lock a tool, such as a punch, forming tool or die bushing in a retainer block in which the tool can be accurately positioned relative to the retainer block. The tool is released by moving the wedge away from the retainer block. The inclined surface of the wedge may be inclined upward or downward at an acute angle to the vertical, or the wedge may have both upwardly and downwardly inclined surfaces. The upper portion of the tool is preferably non-circular and is held within a tool cavity formed when the wedge is disposed in the retainer block. One surface of the wedge (its tool-mating surface) is adapted to correspond to the surface of the tool in contact with the wedge. The assembly of wedge slidably disposed within the retainer block is preferably used with a hardened backing plate rather than being secured directly to the die shoe.

    Abstract: In the first embodiment, the distal end of a reciprocating plunger of a power saw includes a longitudinally extending cavity receiving a block-like wedge member. A spring in the cavity engages the wedge member for urging the same outwardly of the cavity. These slots are inclined with respect to the longitudinal axis of the plunger and cooperate with the pin to form a cam to urge the planar surfaces into clamping engagement with the blade under the influence of the spring. The blade may be released by forcing the wedge inwardly of the cavity under finger pressure. In a second embodiment, a similar block-like wedge member cooperates with a U-shaped member mounted on the plunger.

    Abstract: An improved punch retainer is disclosed in which a backing plate extends over a relatively large surface area to dissipate force from a punch. A punch retainer body and the backing plate are permanently connected to each other and include passages which are finally ground after the two have been permanently connected. With this arrangement, it is ensured that passages within the backing plate and retainer body are all properly aligned during formation of the punch retainer. Since the backing plate dissipates force over a relatively large surface area, the punch retainer may be used in heavier applications than prior art punch retainers. Punch retaining plungers are spring-biased into the bores and counterbores by means of a transversely split cap plate which is secured to the side face of the main body member. Cylindrical punches may be exchanged in the sockets by retracting the plungers against the compressive force of individual springs such that the punches are received within the sockets and retained by spherical heads of the plungers within the undercuts of the punches.

    Abstract: Apparatus for installing anchors in the earth using rotational power and axial thrust from a power source includes an elongated torque tube for enclosing a guy rod of an anchor and having a lower end portion adapted to drivingly engage the hub of the anchor. A drive coupling is provided for detachably interconnecting the power source to drive the torque tube and install the anchor, and the coupling includes a body having a socket for receiving an upper end portion of the torque tube and an upper end portion of the guy rod. The socket has flatted side walls formed with radial ports which are positioned to face apertures that are provided in a torque tube which has been inserted into the socket. Lock pins are slidably mounted in the radial ports and are biased toward the center of the socket. The lock pins are adapted to project into the apertures of a torque tube when fully seated in the socket and also engage and hold the guy rod of an anchor as it is driven into the earth.

    Abstract: A quick-connect tooling system for releasably locking a tool to a spindle. Additional shoulders are provided on the lock and spindle for retaining the lock in a released position for facilitating the insertion and removal of the tool holder relative to the spindle. The system is arranged so as to engage the retaining shoulders as an incident of urging of the lock to the release position, the collar being concurrently rotated to permit such disposition of the retaining shoulders.

The tool shaft received in the tool holder has a transversely extending recess receiving the driving element in its extended position, whereby the tool shaft is locked in the tool holder. Adjacent to the free end of the tool shaft the said recess defines an abutment surface cooperating with an inner surface part of the driving element in its extended position so as to prevent axial withdrawal of the tool shaft from the axial bore of the socket member.

    Abstract: An adapter member is arranged to be connected between a portion of a machine and a tool to enable quick attachment and removal of the tool to the machine. One end of the adapter member connects to the machine portion and the other end terminates in a reduced diameter section defining an annular shoulder. The tool itself is provided at one end with an entrance bore telescopically receivable over the reduced diameter section of the member so that the one end seats against the annular shoulder. The entrance bore to the tool includes a first axially directed camming surface which depresses the pin or projection when the tool is telescoped over the section. A crescent shaped groove within the bore in turn runs transversely to the axis of the bore and receives the pin or projection, the same snapping into this groove when the entrance bore is fully telescopically received over the reduced section.

    Abstract: A tube has an open end and an outer circumference and is formed with a transverse incision which extends inwardly towards the axis and is inclined longitudinally of the tube towards the open end of the latter. A sleeve surrounds the tube with clearance and is formed in its inner circumference with a substantially radial slot. A cylindrical locking member extends normal to the axis of the tube through the incision, being freely slidable therein, and has end portions projecting beyond the tube into the slot. A biasing spring normally biases the sleeve to a position relative to the tube in which the locking member is prevented from sliding in the incision because of the fact that its end portions are received in the slot of the sleeve, until the sleeve is displaced axially of the tube against the force of the biasing spring to a position in which the locking member can freely slide in the incision.
