  • Patent number: 5697140
Abstract: A sunshade mounting bracket assembly for mounting a sunshade to a vehicle without the use of tools or fasteners. The bracket assembly includes an outer bracket, an inner bracket, and an elbow to which the sunshade is attached. The outer bracket is mountable to an apertured panel such as the sheet metal interior roof of the vehicle. The inner bracket includes resilient locking prongs which define an interior hollow into which the elbow is inserted. The resilient locking prongs are structured to be insertable into an opening in the outer bracket. After their insertion into the outer bracket, the prongs engage the outer bracket when the inner bracket is axially rotated relative to the outer bracket from a first rotational orientation to a second rotational orientation for use. During their engagement with the outer bracket, the prongs are compressed radially inward to compress the elbow maintained within the hollow, which results in rotation of the elbow relative to the inner bracket being frictionally resisted.

  • Patent number: 5682664
Abstract: A panel-mountable pressure switch having an external adjustment lever has a mounting bracket with a right-angled flange attached to the switch housing. The bracket has a cam shaft rotatably mounted on the bracket for adjusting the lever position with the end of the shaft extending outwardly through the bracket flange. The panel has a non-circular aperture formed therein and a plurality of tabs formed on the bracket flange are inserted into the aperture and the bracket is rotated to secure the flange against he surface of the panel. A releasable locking tab on the bracket flange snaps into a separate aperture recess formed in the panel to prevent reverse rotation of the bracket and removal without user depression of the locking tab.

  • Patent number: 5680700
Abstract: An electric-motor fuel pump that includes a housing with a fuel inlet and a fuel outlet, and an electric motor with a rotor responsive to application of electrical power for rotating within the housing. A pump mechanism includes an impeller coupled to the rotor for corotation with the rotor and having a periphery with a circumferential array of impeller vanes. A pair of plates oppose the sides of the impeller and a split ring surrounds the periphery of the impeller to form an arcuate pumping channel around the periphery of the impeller. Inlet and outlet ports at opposed ends of the pumping channel are operatively coupled to the inlet and outlet in the pump housing. Channels extend radially inwardly from the pockets in each side face of the impeller, and are interconnected by through-passages that extend through the impeller. A vapor vent is disposed in one of the side plates for sequential registry with the impeller through-openings for venting vapor from the pumping channel.

  • Patent number: 5661891
Abstract: A conduit assembly which has an inner sleeve and outer sleeve which are proportioned to be concentrically mounted, each of which has a longitudinal slot of approximately the same width is disclosed. The conduits are circular, and a detent is provided on the larger of the conduits to accept and nestingly receive the slot of the smaller conduit when the same is rotated to form a complete circular encasement of the wires or cables which are passed through the conduits. The method of the invention contemplates the steps of forming a hole through a wall, such as a firewall, thereafter, optionally, passing the wires through, or passing the inner and outer sleeve through, and then once the wires are in place, or in anticipation of the wires being inserted, rotating the inner sleeve within the outer sleeve until the sleeve slots are approximately diametrically opposed and the central sleeve slop is secured in the detent.

  • Patent number: 5662026
Abstract: A novel clip system for cookware is disclosed relating to a cooking utensil having a first portion and a second portion which are easily and securely joined together to form a unitary body. The first portion of the cookware utensil has a lip configured to cooperate with a lip on a second portion of the cookware utensil to prevent relative movement of the first portion in a first axial direction. The second portion has at least one stopper to cooperatively engage the lip of the first portion so as to inhibit relative movement of the first portion in a second axial direction. The lip and stopper configuration thereby provides an efficient and cost-effective means for securing the first portion into locking engagement with the second portion to form a unitary body.

  • Patent number: 5624623
Abstract: A thin-walled, cup shaped container molded of polypropylene, or other suitable material, is formed with a tamper-evident band initially positioned outside the lip at the top of the container wall. The lower edge of the band is connected to the container by spaced frangible bridges. A lid closes off the top of the container and has an outer and inner skirt respectively fitting outside and inside the container lip. The upper end of the band is formed into an annular inward projection overlying the periphery of the lid. Forming the retainer projection is accomplished by bringing a heated tool in contact with the band to heat the same until near its melting temperature. The tool has slanted walls converging at a radius and shaped to bend the projection approximately horizontally inward. The lid cannot be removed without tearing off the band.

The upper edge of the cylindrical band extends above the level of the container lip. Subsequent to molding and preferably before capping, the band is curled inward by application of a curling tool. The container lid is axially applied, the outer edge of the lid displacing the curled band outward. The resilience of the band and bridge permits outward deflection and immediate restoration of the curl to its initial position. The curl prevents removal of the lid without fracture of the bridge and removal of the tamper-evident band.

Abstract: In a pinion shift device for a starter of the type employing a semicircular ring-shaped shift plate, the device is constructed such that the shift plate is easily assembled to a shift lever to be suitable for automatization, slide contact portions between the clutch body and the shift plate and/or between the shift flange and the shift plate are less subjected to overflow or exhaustion of grease and give rise to a smaller extent of wear, and thus service life of the device is prolonged. A semicircular ring-shaped portion of the shift plate is loosely fitted in an axial gap between a clutch body and a shift flange integral with a clutch sleeve. A recessed groove for storing grease therein is provided in at least one of paired opposite side faces between the semicircular ring-shaped portion of the shift plate and the clutch body as well as the shift flange. The shift lever and the shift plate are both molded using resin.
