  • Patent number: 8800134
Abstract: The present invention relates to a positioning device for positioning an element to be crimped in a crimping tool, for example a wire end sleeve or an electrical connecting plug. The invention further relates to a crimping tool for crimping a connecting element to be situated in a pressing axis. To allow the element that will be crimped to be brought into the pressing axis, the positioning device has a retaining unit for retaining, about its periphery, the element that will be crimped. The retaining unit has a retaining opening which encompasses the pressing axis coaxially. The positioning device further permits the positioning of the element that will be crimped within the pressing axis, in order, in particular, to ensure the necessary insertion depth of the element to be crimped in the crimping tool. For this purpose, the positioning device of the invention has an axial stop, with which the position in the pressing axis of the element to be crimped can be defined.

  • Patent number: 8776366
Abstract: After melted enamel coating is discharged, a fusion process of electrical wire-to-wire connection is carried out inside a crimping connector. In the conductor connection method based on the fusion process, a plurality of enamel-coated conductor wires are inserted in the crimping connector prior to the start of the fusion process. Further, a temporary crimping process that provides the crimping connector a temporary crimping by mechanical pressurizing means is also performed. Addition of force at both end parts or either end part of the cross-section orthogonal to the axis of the above crimping connector may cause expansion, which needs to be suppressed with external force. At the same time, the cross-sectional areas corresponding to both end parts or either end part should preferably be as small as possible. The temporary crimping is applied to the crimping connector for this purpose.

The crimping press (1) further includes biasing structure (15, 18) for applying an initial force between the first and second crimping tools (11, 13), this biasing structure being oriented in the same direction as the crimping force and acting to already effectively preload a force before the crimp production process (D). This initial preloading force may be of such magnitude that bearing surfaces (5a, 6a, 6b, 7a) of the drive (3 . . . 8) lie against one another without play before the crimp production process (D).

Abstract: The present invention is to provide an apparatus for crimping a terminal to an electrical wire, which have respective part numbers, and allows miniaturization of the apparatus. The apparatus includes a base, a drive portion, a plurality of applicators, a plurality of connection/disconnection portions and a control device. The drive portion drives the associated applicator to crimp the terminal to the electrical wire. The connection/disconnection portions each are disposed in one-to-one relation ship against the respective applicators. The each connection/disconnection portion is positionable at a connection and a disconnection position, where a driving force is transmitted to or released from the associated applicator. The control device controls the associated connection/disconnection portion so that the applicator corresponding to the part numbers of the electrical wire and the terminal can achieve crimping with the driving force from the drive portion.
